I think it’s a casita/guest house for family members or guests to stay in. I hope they looked in it too, I’m sure they did.

That is interesting and it's something I've been considering. Most people are sure this is motivated by money/ransom, and maybe it is, and probably still the most likely motive, but I'll say it doesn't fit the typical ransom case.

No clear line of communication. No proof of life. Why haven't they provided this by now? Why haven't they given some type of definitive proof they are the actual kidnappers? I mean, we're almost two weeks into this and LE still doesn't know with 100% certainty the ransom notes are from the actual kidnappers.

The fact that this case doesn't exhibit the usual steps that ransom cases take has left the door open for me that there is some other motive here. And one of those possibilities I wondered about was did Savannah Guthrie have some obsessed stalker fan... he went to that house expecting to kidnap Savannah and not her mother? He was surprised about who was inside, and then kidnapped her as some sort of demented consolation prize? This doesn't seem super likely either, because I figure if someone was after Savannah and didn't find her there, they'd just flee. But nothing about this case fits the typical makings of what you usually see in these types of cases.

If he was a stalker fan, he would know she lives in NYC. If he knew NG was her mother, I think it was because he knows someone who knows the family. He could just as well be the gardener's SIL as NG's SIL. I think it is someone who is tangentially connected, which can be hard to connect.

I don't think kidnapping was his regular job, for sure. I trust LE when they say this isn't a typical case, but I think a typical kidnapping would be very hard to do now (thinking of Lindburgh, Patty Hearst, and a local bank VP kidnapped from a tiny town in SC in 1976). I imagine that the kidnapper was already panicking after taking NG, but when her disappearance was made public, I bet that just added to his panic.

so many vehicles in that screenshot at house across the way, outlined by red arrow. If that is current was the house being worked on, etc you see no cars anywhere else

Far, far back in this ginormous thread, it was stated and sourced many times that the dried blood spots identified by LE as NG DNA began at the front door and continued along the driveway.

Yes. we've known for awhile the blood drops go down the walk.

Something isn’t adding up. An anonymous tip isn’t usually divulged to stir up drama like this. Also, I don’t believe you can get a search warrant for a home based on the shape of someone’s eyes.

So many things aren’t even making sense right now in this case. I’m not even sure releasing the security footage right away was a good idea. It’s wasting time when the public isn’t really going to recognize someone based on the pics given.

I’d recognize someone dressed like that if it was someone i knew well. If it was my brother, my son, or my best friend’s husband, my brother in law, or my husband’s best friend, for example. I’d recognize any those aforementioned people in my life even if they were masked.

Given that up until yesterday, we didn't know there was a blood trail going beyond the initial spot on NG's porch that we had seen from the beginning, I would wonder what else has been known from the beginning that we don't know about yet.

If I recall, BE originally reported (several days ago) that there was a blood trail going from the front door, down to the sidewalk to where it hits the drive/road. I think for some of us here since the beginning, it was on the first few pages of the thread. He noticed it as soon as they released the scene....the first time.

This looks similar to a fireplace I had at one of my houses. It was a fireplace w/o a chimney and venting was through this structure. Just a maybe, it does not look 100% identical.

And I was shocked to find the address for Nancy very easily publicly available, still! The Today Show featured an 8-minute segment in November, showing her going back to Tucson. It included her mom on camera, and the information that she still lived in Tucson. That, coupled with her very easily available online street address, could've encouraged some criminal opportunists...

It is not hard to find just about anyone’s address. They can hide it through LLC’s but trust me, still very easy to connect dots and find out who lives where.

While I still think abduction is far and away the most likely intention(whether it be ransom or otherwise) allow me to play devil's advocate for a second and provide an explanation for why someone would be abducted even if it were not the original intent.

Say this individual broke in for other means. Whether it be robbery or even expected someone else to be in the house. Then they run into Nancy and are like oh crap, I did not expect this. The intruder could be thinking in that moment "What do I do? I can't just flee and leave her here. She'll call the cops. And in a neighborhood that is not very dense and late at night, I'm likely going to be one of the few cars out here on the road at this hour, I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb when cops patrol the area, so I gotta just grab her and take her with me to prevent her from calling the cops."

Again, I still think abduction was likely the intent here. But by chance it wasn't, that could be a reason why it ended with her being kidnapped anyway.

My current thoughts on the case
1. This is wild and I wonder what's really going on behind the scenes.
2. I'm still shocked that I have not seen any search dogs in the neighborhood or search of all the tanks, etc. (Thanks to all those who have shared pictures of the neighborhood. It doesn't appear isolated and the areas of vegetation without houses, doesn't appear large. ) Edited to add- I see it's been posted that dogs have been used. Looking for more info here.
3. I'm still on the fence about the ransom letters. I'm leaning towards them being from an opportunistic individual or group, rather than someone directly involved. (People will steal and scam folks even when they're down. For example, people break into homes while families are away attending loved ones funerals. That is low.) Any info that was given in them might have been gained from reports, videos and pictures shared from the scene.
4. Because their has been no word from authorities on "proof of life", I don't believe Nancy is still alive. If she were, I feel a picture or video would have been sent somehow.
5. I have no theories on who is actually involved in this.

I expect those cute family stories in the media will be a thing of the past. This is just too scary and people in media (at least for many years) will remember it.

Great closeup on the sleeve. At that zoom level it almost looks like there's pilling on the sleeve, which makes me wonder if it's a fleece-type jacket versus a windbreaker.

I initially thought windbreaker because it makes more sense with the reflective strips but it does look textured here.

My thinking too, I'm trying to imagine why the perp would walk up with no backpack and no gun, see the camera ad then go put on the (stuffed full) backpack and weapon to return and disable the camera. IMO everything about this case is weird including this part.

I think the picture with the suspect NOT wearing the backpack doesn’t come from FBI? I think it’s throwing people off that the suspect at some point was at the front door with no backpack and then miraculously had a backpack.

Actually I can faintly see the stripe in that photo as well.

The stripe looks much too narrow to be the chest strap of a backpack.

Most, if not all, backpack chest straps have a connecting latch right in the middle of the chest where the two sides of the strap come together.

I don’t see that here.

OK I think you guys are right that the stripe is on the jacket and it's not the backpack. This pic shows pretty clearly that the stripe stops at the zipper.

The pic with no backpack has to be BEFORE, because after he disabled the camera, it would stop recording anything, at least from the location on the doorbell.

exactly. so approached door with neither backpack or weapon, presumably sees camera. Then returns with both backpack and weapon, rather ineffectively attempts to cover the camera with stray foliage plucked from nearby and then later disables it.

JMO Doesn't seem well planned or necessarily targeted to me when viewed in that light.
