Either this case will be solved and we’ll all be blown away by the investigative techniques reveled in court docs. And many of us, myself included, will owe some apologies thinking this was mishandled.

IMO, I think FBI worked with HL on his last statement - it was very put up or shut up. Nothing really left for the writer to say at this point, MOO.

Hoax or not, clearly the writer wants media attention. TMZ kept giving it. The last video HL made seem to signal that’s not happening anymore.

IMO, I think FBI convinced the family the notes (hoax or otherwise) are a dead end, for now at least. Family done cooperating with writer, not putting out any new videos. TMZ were the only ones still reacting. The last video made it seem like they wouldn’t anymore unless ransom not guy gives up what they know.

I’m not totally convinced that all the notes were a hoax just yet. We know at least one was. TMZ/FBI were, imo, right to stop giving the writer(s) attention tho. There could possibly be negations taking place behind the scenes. Regardless, imo the public doesn’t need to know or give this psycho the media attention they may be craving. I also believe the noose is tightening. They most likely have a really good behavioral and geographical profile idea of who they’re looking for and I do believe that they have suspects, even though that’s being denied at this time. Time may have been on the perps side in the beginning but not so much anymore. They’ll want all the T’s crossed and I’s dotted before they make an arrest. It’s coming. What’s done in the dark always comes to light. Prayers for Nancy and family.

It is said that Nancy Guthrie still drove her vehicle. I would not be surprised if she, like many seniors, did not like to drive at night. As we age, often our night vision becomes poor.
Maybe they usually picked her up, but on that particular night someone was cooking and someone was running late getting home or in the middle of a project. Maybe they told her they would be delayed picking her up. Perhaps she volunteered to take an Uber knowing one or both of them would give her a ride home.
Unfortunately, we don’t know what their regular routine was so we can keep on guessing, but we won’t know until someone tells us.

If you watched BE's interview with CeCe Moore, she had stated that she's worked with the lab in Florida and has confidence the lab can get the job done and that it is a good lab. In most if not all investigative genetic genealogy cases, that have been solved---its been by a private lab and not the FBI lab.

So, we should not knock the expertise of the FL lab, because in my opinion, it appears they may have 2 male DNA profiles they are trying to separate.

MOO - I am certainly no expert on DNA and not saying I have any knowledge or insight to suggest what specifically makes this separation complicated but here’s what came to my mind when i heard this. Separating mixed DNA can be complicated by several things including whether or not it is transfer DNA and what percent of the sample each person contributed. But one of the things that could also make it more complex is the possibility of the contributors being related to one another which really complicates separating each individual’s dna because they would have multiple shared markers. Many of us have long suspected multiple perps were involved in abducting NG. If there were two of them and they were brothers and each contributed equally to the sample they would share about 50% of their DNA in the sample which would be more complex to separate and if one contributed significantly more DNA to the sample than the other I would think that might make it even more challenging to separate and come up with 2 distinct DNA profiles of 2 unknown individuals. And what if there was a 3rd contributor? And what if that person was a cousin of the other 2 meaning there would also be shared markers but about half as much? I think of it like sorting socks - if I have identical twins it’s pretty easy to match them. If I have some black ones and some white ones, it’s pretty easy to separate them. But if I have several pairs of black socks which are slightly different in their designs it is more complicated to separate them. Not necessarily impossible but certainly means I have to take more time and a closer look to do so. A lab has to take a closer look at mixed DNA and perhaps use more than one method of separating the sample and use different - more expensive - equipment. Again MOO

I remember in the Delphi case, one tip that came in, was entered into the database and was missed for years. Thus the delay in identifying the perp. I believe it was due to who it was reported to, how it was entered, sorted, cataloged or something to that effect. JMO because I didn't follow that case in depth so I'm going off memory.

When I read the headline about LE telling people to stop calling 911 with their suggestions, opinions, theories, or whatever they were speculating on, it made me think of how the tips are being tracked.

In this case the sheer volume of tips have to be entered into software, at least I would think so. I know from working in Excel for decades, sorting data and putting it into tables and picking pieces out to put into a chart, is very involved.

I wonder if they have people entering the information, someone verifying it was not only entered, but entered accurately and sorted and maintained with proper spellings of names, streets, etc. It has to be overwhelming and very stressful on the data team.

Good post. I was trying to address this yesterday. Pretend I am one of these average everyday citizens who "see things". Not a psychic who does card readings etc. for profit, just a person who gets "flashes" I'm not, just pretending for the sake of explanation for this post.. However, these people exist. So, I call up. I give them my "theory" I don't say.."sometimes I see things". My call will go into the nutso, not to be followed or believed, pile. Who sorts out credible vs psychic vs possible, etc? I believe the name of the perp has already been called in. It exists in one of those data sheets. It was NOT considered actionable. If the DNA becomes a dead end, then this case will grow cold. manpower of the amount needed in an ongoing basis just wont be available. JMO

Hello folks...new here. I used to post on the EARONS forum. Got away from this fascinating stuff for a while but...can't stay away.
Regarding Nancy Guthrie...

My instinctive thoughts are:
1. Not a bungled burglary.
2. Not a ransom situation
3. Not a revenge on the family or the celebrity daughter.

This is, I believe, was a case of an offender with severe psychosexual issues, whose preferred victim(s) is an elderly woman. Nancy led a pretty open life. She was easy to find and surveil. She was incredibly vulnerable.

So on a night of a full moon, he struck. More accurately, he and his submissive sidekick (and likely) sometime sexual partner struck. (Partner probably a very dependent submissive male.)

The time within the house was the dominant partner doing his thing. Once completed...they could not leave a human with his DNA. So they exited with her. And no, Nancy is not with us.

Such offenders are not unknown...there was a guy in Philly a few years ago who selected elderly females.k
I'm sorry to write these things-but they make sense to me and explain a lot of why nothing has turned up.

I hope I'm wrong. But I "knew" long before EAR was arrested that he was a cop, and then, a former cop. Based to a great extent on his ammunition selection.

I "knew" in 2004 that BTK was a local code enforcement officer. It just made sense to me.

Has this subject done this or something similar before? Almost certainly. What we know of the crime shows too much complexity and preparation for a first timer.

Will he (they) be caught? Probably. Eventually.

I would suggest that the bodies of any young men in Arizona who suffered a violent death in the near future be examined as a possible reference point to this crime. Tracing their network of acquaintances may lead to the dominant. Why do I say this? Partners, even dependent/submissive ones get antsy. And the dominant one would take care of business.

Cece Moore w/ Parabon is Ashleigh's guest and really explains the blood evidence and states that Nanos made a great choice in the lab because the lab can do all types of analysis, unlike the FBI's lab. Really important listen. She states the first person to make a statement against his choice owned a competing lab.

Also, Ashleigh states that a source told her the blood pattern outside was the same inside.

I found something interesting: apparently separating DNA is not new but there are many variables that can complicate it. This AI summary was very helpful to me. It becomes more difficult with more than 2 contributors, small amounts of DNA, degraded DNA, and equal amounts of DNA contributed by multiple people. Now I'm concerned the decision to send the samples to FL could end up making the case go cold.
