The car thing doesn't necessarily mean anything, I don't think Gannon's family ever got his Nintendo Switch back from LE even though it had nothing to do with his killing.

Sometimes things just go into the black hole of an investigation and take forever, or never emerge. And this is still an active investigation without a publicly identified suspect. They're going to hang on to things for as long as they can until they're absolutely of no importance to any case they want to build.

MOO

We don't know what the LE is keeping close to their vests

But the law does not allow you to hold onto any vehicle without a cause

Most likely, it's a number in an evidence list that might be on hold for a future court case

I am sure AG wants her car back

Someone else could have touched her car, even when it was parked outside her place

So if he was injured that many days later I wonder how injured it was to begin with, whenever and however he injured it. Not saying anything about it being connected to Nancy because we are not allowed to assume anyone injured themselves doing anything unsavory.
The blue Dodge Charger in LD’s driveway with significant front-end damage may have been wrecked the previous week. That may have been the reason for the purchase of the RR. The wrecked Charger was clearly visible when Brian Entin (or Brian Enron, as my phone insists on calling him) walked up that driveway a couple of days after the raid. It was later towed.

Michael Ruiz (Fox News), on 16th February, posting on X:

“UPDATE: A neighbor tells DuganRamire that the car was towed at the direction of State Farm — NOT law enforcement — because it was totaled in a crash last week.”

Link to post on X.

A possible explanation for a swollen hand? Can’t say for sure.

Definitely could have a Tyvek suit on under there.
On a recent podcast that featured a retired long-time AZ detective, he mentioned the prickly pear and other cactus/barbed plant matter often being a deterrent to both bad guys and searchers in a residential crime. It occurred to me that what appears to be layers of clothing were seen as necessary protection, no matter whether Lantana Man arrived on foot through the pervasive areas of vegetation or whether he planned for a potential run through the cactused landscape afterwards. Only me speculating.

Did you see it on the news? I want to see it.
I found it on YouTube by Googling his full name and Culver's and then looking for clips that appeared to show him in them... not just the RR being towed away or the sheet being used to cover it. It was this YouTube page called 'Tier Talk / From Prison to True Crime.' The footage he posts in the video is from Fox News... it is not his own footage.

I went back to look at the footage after recent comments on lantana man’s gait and movement patterns, because I’m a former personal trainer who tends to pick up on those things but had never noticed anything unusual in the video.

What I see now is someone stepping in a way to avoid making noise. I don’t see an injury or compensating patterns—IMO—I see him lifting each foot in a way that just slightly increases the air time and reduces the number of steps needed. Hence someone’s comment upthread about spacewalking (my term)—if you wanted to make as little noise as possible, you’d walk like an astronaut, too. MOO

TMZ
Thank you for that info, I haven’t actually noticed ‘injury’ but I’m a bit slow 🙄

However as you explained about the attempt to be very quiet, it occurred to me that perhaps there was no accomplice inside at that stage - or ‘inside’ yet, as the attempt to be very quiet with those steps would be to not alert NG. ( no way neighbours would be close enough to hear footsteps, and since the perp wasn’t worried about footsteps on the gravel, it seems there was no concern that NG would hear from that distance.
Did they know she wore a hearing aid I wonder .

* Why would they want footsteps to be that quiet ?
Did that model ring security doorbell record sound when motion activated ?
Was that feature enabled or disabled ?
What might recorded footsteps give away ? Oh, quite a lot apparently:

Although ‘he’ initially came into the perch head bent / face hidden, the perp wasn’t concerned about being seen on camera when he straightened up and was using the lantana to disable the camera.

* why was it crucial to disable the camera at front door ?
I think that points to:
NG was taken out the front door, which seems to be supported by the presence of blood on the porch
( slight detour - front on to the house pics seem to show a timber ramp or something going to the porch, but I can’t see it in pics showing the perp )
Did not want to show all perps involved / how many
Did not want to show NG’s state
Did not want to show the get-away vehicle which will have been on camera if it was at porch entry.

Just some of my thoughts

Interesting article from Vulture that focuses on profiling of the perp in this case with Mary Ellen O’Toole, Dr. Tyron Pope, a retired New York Police Department sergeant supervisor in the detective squad and assistant professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and Marlon Marrache, a retired LAPD internal-affairs sergeant and public-information officer.

Do we know definitely that the ransom note writers did not provide “proof of life?” Further, do we know definitely that the family did not pay the ransom? I don’t know how we would know this information definitively. LE is not required to tell the general public the truth while an investigation is in process. I think it’s very possible that the ransom was paid, but Miss Nancy was not returned as agreed. When her family then additionally offered the one million dollar reward, they were (are) hoping that someone with knowledge will come forward.
The longer this has gone on, the more I’m feeling very strongly that this was a kidnapping for ransom, and it was committed by, or paid for, by a group or individual. Why they have done this, I have no idea. I just pray for her safety and for the family, as I can’t imagine what they are going through.
My amateur opinion only.

One of the biggest reasons to NOT go out the front door is that there is a bigger chance of being seen by neighbors, security cameras act.
In my opinion using the back door to exit the house would allow the perpetrators(s) to use alternate routes of escape from the backyard.
As for blood on the front porch, the perpetrators could have dropped blood from a container that they brought with them (could have been animal blood). This tactic may have been used to confuse investigators during the initial phases of crime scene analysis.
Certainly LE could eventually figure out that it wasn’t NG’s blood but the time required to get back test results would give more time for the perpetrators to leave the Tucson area altogether.
Just my opinion.
I’ve been interested to see just how neighbours houses, entries, cameras etc relate to that of NG’s house ( I’ve looked for detailed area photos but can’t find )

The reason for that interest is that none of my neighbours can see into my entry. If awake & looking at 2am, they would see a car in driveway or outside. But if no car in driveway, front door cameras would not pickup a vehicle. … this case has me thinking I need to do some serious upgrades.

As an aside, there was a ruckus on my street the other week just after 11pm. A female voice going right off, at top of her voice and uttering every imaginable profanity, for 10 mins or so. I asked neighbour ( who is closer to where it originated) if he heard it, and he said No, I would have been asleep.

With everything that has been theorized, I can't help but go back to the actual scene of the crime. We have no idea about the inside or back of the house. They are keeping that under wraps. But I cannot get over the fact that they basically left the front "as is." They did not take the front doormat for further testing of fibers or blood stains. Perhaps they got all that they needed from just doing something there, but that just doesn't make sense to me. Also, let's not forget, as far as we know, in the beginning they did not have any video of the perp on the front porch, so they would have no idea about why there was Lantana all over the porch. There was blood, so why was not every piece of Lantana picked up and brought into evidence for testing, again for fibers or any DNA that the perp might have left behind, because again, no video means they didn't know he was wearing gloves. Everything should have been removed and brought in for testing, including the Nest bracket, which they originally took, but it was many days later. The actual doorbell is another, they don't know that it was touched.

Again, they might have the most outstanding forensics team in the world, I am just a guy observing from the outside. Perhaps all of that stuff was tested thoroughly, but wouldn't they want to present any of that for evidence later if there was a trial? My last thing that boggles my mind is that it appears that the whole driveway is not really paved, but consists of dirt and maybe rock. I have heard nothing of any testing for tire marks or anything. The whole crime scene is bizarre. BE just walked up filming the blood stains. Pizza delivery guy just walks right up. Elderly care just steps into the blood scene and leaves a card. I have kind of posted all of this before but it just doesn't seem right. I am NOT questioning or bashing LE, it just doesn't make sense to ME.

Not definitively, but of all the people at the three outlets known to have received the original note (KOLD, KGUN and TMZ), plus all the various presenters and former FBI people who’ve made clear that they’ve read it, there is one who would surely, I think, have said something about proof of life being mentioned: Harvey Levin. I don’t think he is biologically capable of keeping that kind of thing a secret. He may not have divulged details, but he’d have said something about it.

He made it clear that the note contained two pieces of information about the crime scene. Over time, details slipped out about one of them. He said nothing about proof of life.

The first few Instagram posts by SG, CG, etc. all spoke of needing to know that NG was alive. If they’d had proof, they wouldn’t have taken that approach.

All speculation on my part.

Some interesting points at Nancy's house. There are 6 points of entry to the inside

Front door, garage, 2 balcony back doors, blue door, patio doors on the side of the house, with a 4ft pony wall

We don't know factually from the sheriff if it was a Forced Entry
So this should have been addressed by the sheriff in the beginning

We know when Nancy was dropped off at home, the garage door opened up at approximately 9:48 p.m. and closed (9:50 p.m.) as the home's smart garage system recorded the activity

But the timeline of Nancy's disappearance doesn't quite fit the puzzle

At 11.56 pm, the family checked on Nancy 12:03 pm, the family called the emergency number 911

Then the sheriff said around 11. am ish.
Well, then that's around 60 minutes

But how did they get in to check on Nancy?

If the family entered through the front door, they would have seen the blood and called 911 straight away

If they said we used the garage to get into Nancy's house

The LE would have that data point at a certain time (the home's smart garage system)

Well then, the LE would be asking what you were doing in there for that amount of time etc.. ?

A search warrant was then issued to impounded AG car as part of the investigation

But you can't impound someone's car without a reason and not give it back; the law does not allow you to do that

Unless it has some evidence-based value

As normally it's 10 days to hold the vehicle, it's now a month in

The vehicle is still of interest to the LE in this case, and a judge has approved the continued holding of that vehicle

I just can't understand why AG's car would still be part of the investigation after all this time.

It may have been used to transport NG home but it should have been cleared since whoever dropped NG off and the time was much earlier, as far as we know from the time she actually disappeared.

Drop off was evening hours and it seems nothing criminal transpired till the early morning hours.

Surely by now they know where that vehicle was driven and when it was returned home and by who, why the heck would they continue to hold it once they had that information? Which should have been proven within days if not hrs.

To me it makes no sense, they should have been able to tell very quickly whether or not that vehicle held any evidentiary value. Add that to the fact that they also apparently have NG vehicle it makes you wonder why those two vehicles would hold any significance whatsoever. They should have been processed and released extremely quickly if alibi's checked out etc. Such a weird case.

The Nintendo switch would be much more significant, in that investigation Letecia Stauch made statements about his connection to it and how he would take it with him etc. It was personal property of the victim very similar to a victims phone.

A vehicle belonging to a relative that has reportedly been cleared isn't quite the same thing imo.

And here is an archive link to that same Vulture article in case anyone can't get past the paywall:

Thank you, I don’t know how to do that!

And permission from mod to use a Vulture article, due to the serious interview with FBI BAU.

At around 7:52 in one of the press conference video, the sheriff is asked:

“Any tire tracks or any footprints around the house?”

And he answered, simply: “No.”

Probably. Looking at the excellent screen grabs in this post by @diggndeeperstill made me think that the bite light may have been underneath the perp’s face mask. Not the ski mask but a face mask, underneath. Others have suggested the idea of a second mask many times upthread.

When the light is on, it may be shining through the thin face mask. When it’s off, we see a mouth and what look like teeth but what we’re seeing could be the type of mask that covers completely covers the wearer’s mouth. I say that because there’s no sign of a light being held in his mouth when that light is turned off.

Could all be my misinterpretation of the screen grabs.
Yes I have been reading about the double mask idea. This would explain why this guy was so nonchalant about being seen on camera? He knew he could not be recognized with two masks on?

I cannot picture how he could hold a bite lite in his mouth with two masks on, especially when the first one completely covers the mouth. I agree that it looks like this could be the case, but is the light small enough to be held almost entirely in his mouth? I was thinking something like a pen light, but maybe a bite light is smaller?

What does a bite light look like? I can’t find one online.

Somebody wants that car. It could even be the FBI

Nancy's car could have come across the offender/s at some point, so there could be fingerprints, DNA, etc

And that's understandable
