I don't understand leaving the mat or the rest of the lantana branches, either. Why not collect everything anyway? Let the lab decide what's of evidentiary value. What's the harm?

Technically, she was kidnapped, even if she was near death. Legally a 'kidnapping', to be added to the list of charges by the prosecutor.
Yes, she was kidnapped if taken while stile alive. iMO
Also, if she died in the house before taking her, it’s not kidnapping. It’s burglary, murder and moving a corpse.
Lots more charges if ransom or extortion. IMO
We don’t know if she made it out of the house alive.

The terrain is called 'Nature'. The earth is hard there, the temperatures high, the plants are those that are able to grow naturally in the environmental conditions. Nothing to do with wild west or choice. Also, nothing is definite, which is why there is an investigation. Crime happens everywhere, and from one podcast I saw with a local LE person, policies were in the general area, to allow free bus rides, and this LE guy pointed out that criminal minds can now travel free, from the city to the suburb/rural areas, and vice versa. Not my own opinion, but perhaps another piece of info. Many love the area to live in. Different strokes for different folks.
Thank you for explaining, much appreciated to have locals here. JMO

But following that line of reasoning, the house would be "possessed" for eons too. We know they are not. So, i dunno. jmo
True.
I don't know, maybe with the vehicle if it's been fully processed it's no longer in police possession, and when Nanos says it's still part of the investigation he means on paper or digitally, within a report.

Given her age and health issues, I would imagine they had a key to her house. It's not uncommon. I believe it's been clarified that the timeline surrounding the Sunday morning phone calls was that they were closer together. They were not at the house for an hour. It was only a few minutes before they called 911. Here is the updated timeline.

We were told friends called the family when she didn't arrive to watch church with them. With this timeline, it is fuzzy (probably intentionally) on exactly when the family was contacted. Possibly to protect the privacy of who called, or to cover for an earlier misspeak that made it seem the family was there for an hour before calling 911. The timing of the 911 call will be a matter of public record so they can't fudge that. The only room for fudging is really when the call came from the church friends.

I really "blame" LE for making AG & TC such a focus for people. If that original timeline had not had them at the house for an hour before calling 911, I don't think that would have happened. MOOooo
Glad they updated their info to show AG called 911 right away, probably when she saw the bedroom, disheveled with blood droplets. JMO

Maybe there was no sign of struggle and they got all they could get. No need to keep it but also not wanting public focus back on the family/someone close they just don’t say much.
Struggle or no struggle the doormat was walked on by perp and also Nancy blood trails at this point . So by taking the door mat it would enable forensic to see if her blood was also seeped into the black carpet on the doormat . Tbh it doesn't appear to have even been lifted up as the position is the same in any footage we have of the door

For all we know Nancy could have stored a key beneath it and perp lifted the mat to access it imo moo and speculation

To add to this. All standard, nothing to see here. IMO

A sheriff said a car was processed as part of standard investigative practices as officials continue to investigate Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

“The car that was at the home, it’s just standard investigative practices. It’s part of the search warrant scene. The court orders, we pull it out of there and do our scene processing with the vehicle,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a press conference on Thursday.

Nanos did not state who the car belonged to.

Isn’t this referring to Nancy’s car? The article title seems misleading. Sounds like he’s referring to the car in the garage.

I agree with @su5ie on this. Crime scene protection and control was poor. I watched a video yesterday with a retired detective, and another who is now a criminal justice professor.

- this one posted yesterday

He said he wouldn't have bothered with crime scene tape for a case so closely followed. He would have surrounded the house with chain link fence panels and made everyone sign in and out for some time. He said you don't now what you don't know and it's common to come back to a scene several times. He also explained that one reason they often return to crime scenes is to rule things out for trial. For instance, checking AG & TC's house for blood so they can say at trial that they checked and there was nothing. The old rush to judgment thing.

If I recall correctly, he said a lot of what we were seeing of them returning to AG and NG homes was that rather than because they doubt their story. MOO and his opinion. ;)

I’m honestly not sure if they have AG car. We have pictures of NG car, CP car, and LD car. When was AG car towed? Where’s a picture of AG car?

Multiple people have asked me what the status is on Annie Guthrie’s car after it was taken for processing in the case.

I asked PCSD today and just received this response:
“All we can say at this time, the vehicle is still part of the investigation.”

--Has Derrick Callella ever met AG/TC? He texted/called them on their cell phones. That is a fact. Not opinion.

One thing that may link these 3 guys is bands/music. <modsnip: Rumors and/or information stated as fact without a link to support is not allowed> JMO.

This is an image of a potential match of an orally held flashlight perp may have had in his mouth in porch footage

It is cheap and powerful and small enough to not cause it to fall out of the mouth and long enough to not touch part that was inserted in the mouth therefore no transferred saliva onto glove

It's just an example and not a verified match and purely speculation on my behalf

Thank you for that info, I haven’t actually noticed ‘injury’ but I’m a bit slow 🙄

However as you explained about the attempt to be very quiet, it occurred to me that perhaps there was no accomplice inside at that stage - or ‘inside’ yet, as the attempt to be very quiet with those steps would be to not alert NG. ( no way neighbours would be close enough to hear footsteps, and since the perp wasn’t worried about footsteps on the gravel, it seems there was no concern that NG would hear from that distance.
Did they know she wore a hearing aid I wonder .

* Why would they want footsteps to be that quiet ?
Did that model ring security doorbell record sound when motion activated ?
Was that feature enabled or disabled ?
What might recorded footsteps give away ? Oh, quite a lot apparently:
“Acoustic footprint of human footsteps”? Great find, @Warshawski !

Is that the man who was arrested for a hoax ransom note?

Again, it’s the context. Not HER vehicle, THE vehicle. I’m not trying to be hard headed or argumentative. I promise and I do sincerely apologize if my questioning this is frustrating anyone. It’s not my intention.

I get it… but NO ONE has ever confirmed it’s AG vehicle. Nanos did not say who it belonged to in this interview. AB is the one that reported it was taken because her inside source told her that.
Not one picture of it being towed, no sensational headline, no make or model, nothing. Just THE vehicle was processed. I get it, yes there’s a “possibility” a vehicle belonging to her is in their possession. Maybe not, too. They won’t elaborate on this subject at all or identify who it belongs to. They seem to dismiss any questions away very fast any time it’s brought up. Idk. It’s off. It doesn’t make sense. MOOoooMOOooo

Yes. I appreciate the response. They never confirm they have it in their possession…. Just that it’s part of the investigation. It’s very ambiguous and why why why no picture? It’s so strange to me that there’s no photo evidence or picture of what her car even looks like, make model, anything but yet we know what everyone else’s cars look like and have tons of photos available on all of them. It’s just odd. Very odd to me. Moo
And where is hubbys car? Surely he has one. Why take just one car - because that’s the one NG was supposedly last in?

We agree especially since the perp had a flashlight in his mouth and would have most likely drooled aka DNA.

Yes, he threatened the family directly through messages asking for Bitcoin.
Is that the man who was arrested for a hoax ransom note?
I just was going to link the charging documents. Probably been discussed here before but there were no “extra” items included by FBI for details, meaning they didn’t mention anything we didn’t already know about condition of the home. No mention of blood inside.

Derek Callella texted both AC and TC “Did you get the bitcoin, were {sic} waiting on our end for the transaction”.

Data reviewed also shows he called a family member of NG three minutes after the text messages that lasted 9 seconds.

No mention of WHO that family member was or WHAT was said.

Also noting the above calls AG as AC indicating she is married.

True.

If that were the case i’m not sure why he wouldn’t just say it’s been processed and released back to the family like he did with the house. Especially since it would have fit with his statements that the family had been cleared.
