It seems we are in really insane territory for me to even be asking this question, but how would blood drops be able to be staged? You would need to collect the blood somehow and then you would need a dropper of some sort... and you'd have to do this quickly before the blood coagulated. Would a high school biology teacher have EDTA tubes at his house? It seems unlikely. On the other hand, the blood spots are just too neat-- there are no smears and no shoe prints and the blood doesn't continue past the front porch. If I had to guess, the blood was put there at the same time the camera detected motion.
Also, I watched the entire press conference again and the sheriff did say that they had recovered the doorbell camera. So the perpetrator did not take it, as many have assumed. If you look at the mounting bracket it doesn't look like someone tore the camera off... same for the wood trim... and you would expect there to be damage there, if someone had tore it off (unless they had the security screw driver, which is tedious and time consuming to use). They simply disconnected the WiFi/Internet somehow, maybe by disconnecting the router... but then a CourtTV reporter mentioned an adjacent neighbor had experienced her cameras disconnecting that same night. So maybe cut at the common source for both houses. This would explain the 1:47am disconnect and then no motion detected on camera until 2:12.... the perpetrator had to hike behind the house to disconnect and then to NG's house. Has anyone looked at where the communication/telephone easements are on the property?
The SIL may be a tech nerd; we have no idea what his interests are aside from his band.
