This is STRANGE, very strange to leave out of the timeline. I can only think they are leaving it out to coax a family member to set the record straight. Of course it should be very easy for LE to confirm, but I think they want a certain family member to at the very least get uncomfortable.
yes, it's like constantly saying the ransom notes are "well written"; when you have a writer in the family. Just my opinion, but it seems odd to me.

Inmate lookup is no longer accessible for Pima County (Tucson). I've been checking it on and off throughout the weekend and this is the first time I've seen this message. Can check for yourself here. Personally checked for myself in Chrome and Firefox incognito.

They do where I live.

Judge denies request to dismiss murder charges in PCH crash that killed 4 Pepperdine students

imo
Interesting (sad situation, of course, but interesting that they're charging murder)...

CA Penal Code: Murder

"(a) Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus, with malice aforethought."

IMO

The other thing is the strange messaging about who dropped Nancy off in the evening? Why did the sheriff change to "let's go with family"?

$6M won't take that long to get her hands on if it's all invested in a brokerage. You can have your money available in 1 day. I recently bought a house for cash so I know how long the process takes, but that'll have to be JMO. So as far as liquidating... it just takes 1 day for the settlement of stocks and/or funds to occur. As for the crypto part... that appears to be even quicker.

On average, though, it takes around 10 minutes for a transfer to confirm on the blockchain. But, again, this can vary. SOURCE

What's going to suck is the tax hit she's going to by cashing investments out. And what's going to really suck, in the event she can somehow get her money back in the end, is that if she has to liquidate an IRA, Roth, Traditional, or Rollover... she can't get that money back into those accounts. What sucks about that is if you can buy and sell to your hearts content in an IRA, with NO tax consequences, but you can't do that in a taxable brokerage account. Change your mind and sell some stock to buy a different stock? The tax man holds their hand out. So no changing your mind if she can get that money back. It has to go into a taxable IRA. I don't think the IRS is nice enough to allow her some grace and just put it back. But who knows? Maybe there is some sort of loophole she could utilize.
Or, she borrowed against it. I think there are those that would lend it to her, then she can work with her husband at a later date to avoid a big tax hit (or other fees).

I think that greatly depends on what the motive turns out to be and who did it. Regardless, it will be a long time before she feels like anything approaching normal, for sure.
If it is the SIL why would that stop her from having her career. She would need time off to grieve but the SIL isn't going to come after her. If the perp is gone she will have to move on with her life and keep busy. Sure she has enough to retire but wealthy people live a certain way so they keep going to keep the lifestyle and that takes working. She also likes her job so that would help her get back to somewhat normal.

No, I looked up who lived in the house they were knocking on today (present and prior). Still lists as their present address but I do not think that is the case. And their profile is on LinkedIn as well as documented large tax liens (since resolved) on the county website. Could just be a random coincidence but it sure got my hamster wheel turning as it raised my eyebrow. That is why I asked earlier if LE was seen going to any other house today. It says it had to do with a trespassing complaint.
Nice sleuthing! That is curious! IMO

I think if it is SIL, she will be fine. A period of time away and then she could return, similar to Jennifer H. If, however, this is an actual kidnapping and ransom with some larger macro factors, I think a return to anything like normal will be impossible and she may be encouraged to retreat from a public facing role.

Does anyone know if AG house had video cameras or rings? If so I assume they would have checked them...to verify timelines?

  • #13,331
This is not a suggestion to go sleuthing people connected by association so please don't take it as such, nor is this about specific politics or kicking off arguments about that side of things either....but AG (and I suppose then also TC) is connected to a very very active activism network of a particular type. One of the things I know about networks of this particular type is that they often contain many individuals who are highly skilled in tech, especially digital, web, cybersecurity, dark web, hacking / ethical hacking etc.

I've never believed that the skillset required to pull off a ransom campaign like this was particularly rare to begin with... and now I'm having thoughts. Not all bad thoughts either, because some of the scenarios in my mind now lean more towards NG maybe being okay, and potentially making it home.

I got from that... it was decided not to specifically say TC dropped Nancy off in a (useless) attempt to thwart speculation of last person to see her, as opposed to family group being the last to see her.

Was it not said she was doing online bible study with the church not a sermon per se that she missed ,maybe some one with better recall can clarify this .

650 odd pages in I'm losing my marbles 😅
That was what the Daily Mail reported on Wednesday. I felt at the time that the DM was not reliable and posted that.

The article cited "a source" saying Nancy hadn't attended services in person since Covid. No name, no description of the who the source was in relation to Nancy.

It provided no source for its statement that the church livestreams services and it's not possible to know who is viewing. It used the passive phrase "It is understood. . . ."

Both claims, that NG viewed remotely and that nobody can tell who is watching are contradicted by more credible sources today. I'm sorry I don't have links from today because they were shared by other WSers and there are too many pages for me to locate them.

I just looked at St. Andrew's website, though. St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Viewers can watch the livestream after providing their names. The church offers a Live Chat, which means congregants can see who else is on and communicate in real time. In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether Nancy's absence was noted at the church service or a congregant online. It seems established that a congregant contacted Nancy's family when she was missed. MOO.

Curiously, however, a source has now told the Daily Mail that the elderly mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, 54, had not been at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church for years.

Ever since the Covid pandemic, she has been worshipping 'online'.

It is understood that St. Andrews does not have a large-scale Zoom call for online viewing, as some religious organizations do.

Instead, the church's 9am and 10.45am services on Sundays are live-streamed and it is impossible for other participants to know who else is watching.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said a congregant called Nancy's family at 11am on Sunday after she failed to arrive at church.

I wonder if SG has Kidnap & Ransom insurance?

Yes that is possible. Why do you think he wants videos?

It increases the possibility he will be detected and arrested. The only thing he should want is the money hitting his bank account.

Unless he is sadistic, controlling, attention seeking? Also narcissistic and thinks he can get away with the crime no matter what.
Maybe to see the pain and suffering being inflicted? Very sick minded person.

So an attempt to protect TC from further speculation?

From CNN.

Saturday, January 31

  • Guthrie takes an Uber to her daughter Annie’s home at around 5:32 p.m.
  • Family members take her back home, with Guthrie’s garage door opening at approximately 9:48 p.m. and closing at 9:50 p.m.
Sunday, February 1

  • Guthrie’s pacemaker app data shows it disconnected from her phone at 2:28 a.m.
  • Relatives check on Guthrie at 11:56 a.m. after finding out she was uncharacteristically absent from church. They discover that she wasn’t home.
  • Relatives call 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report her missing.
  • Pima County Sheriff’s Department patrols arrive at her home by 12:15 p.m.
Tuesday, February 3

  • Several media outlets, including TMZ and CNN affiliate KOLD-TV, receive purported ransom letters demanding millions of dollars in bitcoin for Guthrie’s return. One note includes a first deadline of 5:00 p.m. Thursday and a second deadline for next Monday.
Wednesday, February 4

Thursday, February 5

  • The first deadline mentioned in the purported ransom note passes at 5:00 p.m.
  • Savannah Guthrie’s brother Camron issues another plea on social media at 5:00 p.m. local time, the first deadline given in the ransom note. “We need you to reach out and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward,” he says in the video.
Friday, February 6

Saturday, February 7

If that is the case I'm thinking it is,then it also needs to be noted the driver was breaking the law by traveling at such an excessive speed. Reckless driving puts others in harms way. A deliberate act. IIRC he was going over 100 mph and ended up killing four college students. There are always circumstances relevant to the charges....JMOO
Exactly.

They must be so annoyed with the journalists and would be journalists. I don't blame them for calling the cops for someone in their yard.

She most likely does, but under NBC's policy. I would imagine it covers anything that happens to her off-air, similar to major entertainment industry figures.
