Is this media, over saturation normal? It is almost embarrassing, because I can see the POC community being justified about why many women in their community disappear, with zero to none media attention.

Absolutely abnormal. Mostly because it involves Savannah's mum making it high profile!

The craziness of it all adds to the intrigue - no case like it - one for the history books!

If the ransoms were all a hoax, how are LE so confident there is no threat to the public? Nothing seems to add up.
The only way I see that confidence is if they have a very good idea of who the perpetrator is and it’s someone in NG’s circle (in other words, it wasn’t random)

Or…maybe they aren’t confident? Idk.

Remember the chief in the Idaho 4 case didn’t think there was a threat yet we know now it was a random stranger crime. There absolutely was a threat to the community at the time he said that.

It would seem that if the family felt confident about paying the ransom before today's "5pm deadline", they would lay low and hope an exchange would be made. The fact that SG is on instagram, hours before, begging the public for help, seems like it could "piss off" the supposed kidnappers and make the deal go bad. LE probably would not recommend it. Which makes me fear...they have nothing. Or they now think the ransom letters were a hoax. It just alarms me that if they really were hoping to appease a kidnapper's demand here, they wouldn't encourage the public hours before to look for something, see something, say something. (Because that's not just saying "if you see Nancy" - it's saying be on the lookout for a culprit who can be identified.)

Poor girl -- she looks beaten down.
"She needs you. All of you"
If this has been discussed previously, forgive me as I've just gotten home from work.

This sounds like she's addressing someone she knows her mother knows. The person that is responsible for her death is losing it imo. To me, it seems like SG knows who this person is and is reminding this person that NG is counting on this person to do the right thing. She needs "All" of this person (not the one who made the mistake, or the one who is shameful, but the the whole person, who has good and caring sides too and needs to bring her home to make things right.)

Has someone posted the transcript

Also, she's had a week with this - to get used to the reality of what's happened and formulate a plan of action. She is an attorney by training and obviously a very intelligent person. I would guess that as the shock begins to wear off (somewhat) the critical thinking skills soar.

"she graduated magna c-u-m laude in 2002. She received the highest score on the Arizona Bar exam in the year she took it, according to Washingtonian magazine."

I think she looks resolved today, not defeated like in the previous video. I think she's regaining strength and feeling more grounded with a plan (though still facing a great unknown) rather than being so lost.

My heart continues to be with Nancy's loved ones.

For some reason, I feel like it was already paid.
If it was paid to the wallet that TMZ has been watching I would think TMZ would have announced it. It's possible there was a different deposit wallet in the 2nd message because they didn't want everyone in the public watching that wallet for the deposit.

100% this! There is no way she would be putting this video out just as money is exchanged, or while the perp is supposedly transporting NG back. It looks like negotiations failed, or it was discovered to be a hoax, or LE are circling in on the real perp or.... there is simply nothing right now (but then why would they categorically say there is no risk to the public?!)

Just Googled as I'm Canadian... AZ has the death penalty and possibly for kidnapping resulting in death sounds like.

Do they think the perp skipped state to avoid that if getting caught? I guess they could still get brought back to AZ for trial?
Feds have the death penalty if the victim is killed as a result of the kidnapping, and the feds can charge if the crime crosses state lines.

If Nancy didn't have her medication for 9 days would she even still be alive now?
I have pondered this quite a bit. One thought I had was that it might be easier to obtain medications south of the border. Many years ago I went to Tijuana to buy a skin medication. I was able to buy it without a prescription. Perhaps I'm being a Pollyanna here, but I hold out hope that her captors obtained medication for her - somehow.

  • #15,192
That was my first thought. ^^^
Not so sure anymore.
Anyone employed for cleaning, cooking, yard work, etc., would know quite a bit regarding their employer.
But how would they think they'd ever get away with such a crime ?
They'd have to know they'd be looked at first ?
Not much information out there, however I'd imagine LE have questioned them all and come up with nothing so far ?
Jmo.
They'd also probably be unable to work if they're holding her, so they would have to have a means to sustain themselves. They would have gone "all in" on getting $$ from the abduction because their livelihood is gone/diminished. Even losing one client (NG) would be a substantial loss in income, no matter how slight that income. In neighborhoods like this, I bet 90-100% of households have people helping with their households, and the neighborhood would typically be filled with workers throughout the day. I know mine is.

I guess my point - the local hired help would be losing everything -- and not even demand a ransom for multiple days?

Nancy Guthrie is the mother of a celebrity. I'm sure that if Oprah Winfrey or Whoopie Goldberg's mother were abducted, media coverage would exceed coverage of this. Most white women who are abducted do not get this kind of coverage. It's the celebrity connection that triggers the interest in this case, not the race of the victim.

It's not difficult to obtain medication other than by legal prescription. Ms Guthrie could tell xxx what she needs and they could get it - hypothetically. Not saying this is what happened but is def possibility.

Savanna said, “we will pay”. I don’t think she would lie.

What if ….they have already paid the ransom and she’s not been released. Savanna is asking for help looking for her.

Transcript:

"Hi there everybody. Um, I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare. Um, I just want to say first of all thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt, my sister and brother and I. And that our mom has felt. Because we believe that somehow, some way she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place.

We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly, around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken and we don't know where. And we need your help. So I'm coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers but no matter where you are, even if you're far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there's anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement. We are at an hour of desperation. And we need your help."
Google the bold terms + "movie" - the results will shock you 😨

It's very possible. A significant surge of energy can come from having made a major decision like that, it's done, and people can experience relief and have renewed energy. I think we see that in Savannah today. Make-up on, head held high, energy to continue the fight to find her mom.
But they don’t have NG back! Do we have confirmation that the bitcoin has been funded? I totally understand SG’s message and feel tremendously for her and the family, but I wouldn’t send a message out, seeking information about the abductor if I still had hope. I have to guess they’ve chosen not to send the ransom.

Or...between the time she said "we will pay" and the actual payment being made, it was determined that this ransom demand was a hoax.

If they've paid to the Bitcoin wallet address given in the ransom note, we'd know all about it. TMZ and at least two other stations have the wallet address. Bitcoin transactions are public.
