Something I want to add because there’s been talk about the people not being natives to USA or ransom being from across seas… my grandma recently passed away and we found out she’d been scammed out of a lot of money via bitcoin. When the cops got involved, they said they couldn’t do anything because the account did not belong to someone in the US. Either those cops lied to us (hopefully not lol) or the ransom really did come from someone domestic.
