I am dubious of the kidnapper/ransom scenario. I'm sure there have been kidnappings/ransoms over the years and I may have been living under a rock these last few decades, but the last high-profile kidnapping case I can remember is Patty Hearst (gosh I'm showing my age!) Even the Jon Benet case was not a kidnapping even though there was a ransom note. I believe that with the advanced investigative techniques we have now, cameras everywhere, trace DNA, device tracking, license plate readers, etc. criminals feel it is just too difficult to pull off a high profile kidnapping with ransom. Perhaps crypto/bitcoin has changed the scale somewhat, and has made it easier for kidnappers to receive funds. I don't really know enough about it to say.
Data has been successfully "kidnapped" and held for ransom recently, but this is quite different and less detectable than taking a human being, holding them somewhere while waiting for the ransom without being detected, and then releasing them once the ransom is paid. I suspect the note is a hoax.

I don't think it's political. I don't think this had anything to do with SG covering the Olympics.

I think it was committed by at least one, and probably two, people who had worked around the premises. I believe they knew who SG was and thought they could extort money from her by kidnapping her mother.

I'd be looking at any and all contractors and employees who worked for her, especially contractors who recently performed short-term work, like redoing a chimney, redoing a water heater, temporary landscaping and needing to work inside the home.

Just my musings.

Completely agree.

My guess is they are smart enough to not be found yet by the local LE or FBI. I'm sure we would have heard something by now if they found them? Maybe?

If the bitcoin address given has been used before, they may be able to use it to track the owner if they used an online wallet in the past. I believe all online wallets require verification of personal information and would be traceable. If they are using a new, never used bitcoin address and a cold storage (offline/no online wallet), then there is nothing to trace.

I know enough about bitcoin but by no means a pro lol

The email, a burner phone could have been used to set up and email, with or without a VPN, I am not sure how easy it would be to trace. Even using public wifi may help hide their personal information? But not sure. That would be pretty smart.

all JMO
Not identified that we as the public know of.

I think about the recent Tepe case. They had tons of evidence and knew exactly who they were searching for very early into the case. They did not release any information until the arrest besides the security video. Even then, they knew exactly who was on that video when they released it to the public.

If it was a contractor who decided to try this to make a quick buck, that can easily be identified by LE and they can easily be tracked down. Typically that kind of person takes things from the home, or kidnaps the person just long enough to take them to an ATM to get money and then either let's them go or kills them. If this is truly a kidnapping/ransom situation, then I suspect it is a group that is highly sophisticated and have been planning this for a long time and picked her because she was an easy target.

Laying here needing to go to sleep and just can't get this case off my mind. Part of me feels like this has nothing to do with SG. But my mind keeps bouncing around all the scenarios. In my opinion, if she was taken from the house and was deceased when taken, it would be clear to investigators. The droplets of blood look similar to the blood droplets of my German shepherd mix female dog when she is having her cycle. (She needs to be spayed, but single mom here and money is tight. She's never around other dogs and stays in the fence or inside) Was that door the primary entry/exit door? Do wild animals wonder up to houses there? We don't know if there was blood inside right?
Ugh...so many questions and just worried for NG's safety. If she wasn't a sweet lady, someone would've already spoken out. So I think she really is a precious person.
Just my opinion and thoughts

thanks for that info! So, it's possible the camera was removed before they even went into the house IMO

I have done a quick search and I'm reading that even with the camera being removed, it's possible the server would still delete the footage. So basically, 8 hours later, the footage would be deleted. Maybe that is what they are trying to recover. Kinda like a deleted file on a computer or phone is never truly deleted. I hope so.

Did they say if a home alarm was in use?

Quoting my own post because I just realized in the article it says that mahjong is a 4-player game.
So I wonder who else made up the foursome.
It sounds like mahjong was her last activity of the night vs. dinner.

ETA: Does anyone here play mahjong, and if so, is it a game that can only be played with 4 people, or can 2 people play?

JMO.

There is a version of Siamese mahjong, which is played by two people. There is a version in Eastern Asia that includes three people. As with most games, all depends on whether you grew up in the place where the game was born, or bought in a store and learned specific rules. If you grew up with it, there are many local variations we may have not heard about, different rules, even.

I think the fact that the note hasn’t been called a hoax already is a good indication at least the info provided is legitimate. Why allow the ransom note story 12 hours of coverage if the info is wrong. Is there a benefit to not discrediting it?
If they say it's a hoax, the media will probably release the note. They may not want that to happen -- might encourage copy cats and discourage legit leads. JMO.

It looked like drops of blood to me, not angled since they appeared to be mostly round. As if it dripped from a cut hand or something like that, I did not see anything that looked like spray, but the video was not very clear.
If you zoom in you can see the tiny spray drops. I thought that meant impact of some sort, either sharp or blunt. Would dripping blood cause all that tiny spray?
I’d love to hear opinions. I’m just a forensic files watcher and really don’t know lol

BREAKING NEWS....TRYING TO VERIFY NOW!!!! Will check back in a few minutes!
Notes from the video (all of this info comes from Banfield’s unnamed LE source):

- The cameras were Nest cameras and were smashed

- Nancy’s son-in-law is being “heavily looked at” as a potential suspect — police have towed the car belonging AG and impounded it as evidence

- Blood was found inside

- Her Apple Watch was left in the home

- The back door of the home was left wide open

It may very well be him. My gut from the beginning said it's a family member. Just my gut feeling tho.

Edit; after looking closer at this man, tommaso cioni, he gives me bad vibes along with Annie. Idk i just hope i'm wrong. I cannot imagine me or my husband hurting my mom in any way.
I hope for a good outcome but i fear the worst, sadly 😢

Oh no! Surely not!

does this mean they did some surveillance before committing this crime?
I would think so or at least have knowledge from spending time there themselves or being told by someone who does spend time there. Nothing about this is random or unplanned, imo.
