AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

So earlier today - One of the sorta-news outlets had an article titled something like "Family member being interviewed in their $684K Home". May have been Daily Mail.

Wonder if they borrowed money from Mom to put a downpayment on that property... and now they are behind on their mortgage. Somebody with the ability should check to see if it's in forclosure.

I had been holding out hope that she was still alive but if Banfield’s info is correct, I don’t think so. I cannot imagine what SG is going through.

Same! I did not think a family member would be involved.

The family being involved would make this like the movie FARGO west coast. Most certainly not making light of this or being disrespectful. Prayers.

Could it be that the SIL was about to get served with divorce papers? Which would likely result in him getting deported? MIL was no help to him keeping his marriage together? Could be rage against Annie.

The above is just me spitballing. MOO.
Not to be insensitive, but I hope there's a chance the husband concocted some plan on his own and Annie wasn't involved. 😞 Assuming Banfield's claim about the husband is correct.

Horrible, devastating situation regardless, but daughter choosing to do something bad to her own mother is even sadder and more unthinkable...

Maybe it’s a pipe dream though, IDK how possible it is for him to have done something to her without Annie knowing. 😕

Same. I hope the sister is not involved.

I'll wait for someone more reliable than Banfield, but it will be sad if it's a relative.

About a year ago my elderly parents were watching tv, when they saw a torch flickering around outside and catching the window, my mum opened the curtains and a man was stood at the window wearing a high vis cost (that alone could have given her a HA) anyway only the week before we had installed ring doorbells and cameras all around the house and as you can talk through the speaker to outside my dad asked what they were doing, they said they were from the gas board and had badges (means nothing these days) they said a leak had been reported near their home. They asked my dad to go outside but he refused. This was at 11pm… I felt that Ring / video doorbell was crucial and I am so glad my dad didn’t open the door…
You have a very smart dad 👍🏻

What a turn of events. Could her daughter also be involved? Whoever went to the house didn’t call the cops for an hour. How could they miss all that blood and the camera missing? The back door wide open? Indoor camera’s smashed? Blood in the house? Nancy not home but her phone etc. was all there? MOO.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

A daughter being involved in mother's kidnapping would break my heart, though. Hopefully it is just SIL, if that. But that makes it a stupid crime, doesn't it?

I understand Annie and her husband were there so maybe dispose of evidence or stage something in the house like breaking down the door? Just speculating here

Assuming Banfield's report is accurate, you would think LE would only give Banfield this info if it benefits them. Is LE trying to smoke out something by having this info released? JMO.

If I was Samantha, I don't think I could bear to stay in my (probably murdered) mother's house. Although it's no doubt preferable to staying with her sister and brotherinlaw. I'd rather be in a hotel, I think.

The writing was on the wall in regards to the direction this case is heading. What a terrible loss for Savanah, she loved Nancy so deeply.

This article references the cameras ‘were’ present …it’s just sounding more like an inside job. There’s also a gem show in Tucson. I don’t know if that’s relevant, but the sister is in the jewelry business. As for the cameras…maybe removed while she/they went away on Sat. Seems it would be someone who knows a lot about her and her house.

I think Nancy was taken to Mexico - injured but alive- and that her kidnapping is cartel related.
The wording with the Thursday/ Monday business for paying or killing Nancy sounds to me a lot like what someone from a country with a large number of kidnappings (Mexico/ Venezuela) would say. This isn’t their first rodeo. They could also be moving Nancy around to various remote houses in Mexico if she is alive.

I really want to believe that Nancy is alive and will be retrieved alive.

Yesterday I was convinced this was a perverted deviant who attacked Nancy but today I think this was a targeted kidnapping to extort money from Savannah (who they know has deep pockets.) I’m not fully convinced that this was an inside job- could just be someone that found out Nancy lived in Tucson and did some snooping.
After all, a lot of private information was shared on several occasions on a major TV network with millions of viewers. Somebody could have seen this and started spinning their wheels.

In any case, I’m praying for an Elizabeth Smart miracle for Nancy.
She’s tough and mentally strong and will fight to stay alive imho.
And this happens how often??

Most kidnappings to Mexico involve non-custodial parents.

If cartels are involved, it doesn't look like this.....
