AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I’m more curious about how this Friedman guy from the Showbiz site got this info.
LE was probably not ready to release that information about the son in law. Even TMZ didn’t have that info, and they are usually the first.
VERY early on someone
Is anyone watching Ashleig Banfield? The information is unconfirmed, but it's very interesting!
Someone posted the BIL's pix on this site early on as a POI (but not stated by LE).

Glad WS is doing the only one thread thing.. trying to go back in time to find a particular thread at the time of arrest (for example) was very hard to do.

the house + retirement is prob substantial.
We don't know what NG's get worth is? Could be many millions as I am sure she is wisely invested.

What was the event or dinner that they attended that night? I wonder if hurtful words were exchanged and someone (perhaps under the influence) returned to take vengeance upon her.

can someone update us on what the outing was and who was there?

This is my first post sorry I'm new to this. Is there any chance that this lady willingly went with? I understand the reports that she was taken against her will, but I'm just curious if there was any motives on her side to join

For me, that's a hard no. As an example, the blood outside her front door could suggest she was injured while being controlled. We of course don't know what the inside of the house looked like. IMO

To my knowledge - None of the specifics have been made public yet. I think the mahjong info came from one of her church friends.

Random thought but ... Does the lack of search and rescue indicate that LE have significant hope/information that Nancy is alive and being kept somewhere?

When she was first reported missing they began searching the area.

Then something made them stop and put resources elsewhere.

Given how strange this situation is, I reckon their evidence that she left that house alive is very compelling.

Perhaps if it is a Canoe Man situation?

Ie a scam they are all in on??

Every theory should be considered IMO at this stage, since there is no Occam's Razor.

At least, not based on what info they have released so far.

I agree. I think there is hope.

I also think LE knows way more than yesterday's presser let on. Just a hunch (and hope).

And yet their car was towed by LE, according to the Banfield report.

Hearsay at this point and if true, most likely volunteered to police- not under warrant- because as cooperating family members, you say “take anything you want”/you do anything to help move the investigation forward and locate your beloved mom.

If Annie and her husband are innocent (and my heart and mind tell me they are beyond innocent) there is IRREPARABLE and IRRESPONSIBLE damage being done by Banfield
and consequentially on this thread- which is currently doing a lot more damage than throwing salt in the wounds of those who love Nancy the most and who care for her LOVINGLY and REGULARLY from nearby and have done so devotedly for MANY years.

I hope Savannah has the good sense to hire the best possible attorney for her sister and brother in law quickly if this is seriously the direction that this is turning in.

Maybe there is a garage door opener for Nancy’s garage which is normally in Annie’s car and has been misplaced/ they are checking to see if it was taken from the car?

I’m honestly flabbergasted by the irresponsible reporting of someone who is basically slandering close family at this point.
I’ve seen what these cases can do to innocent family members by the time they are “officially cleared” years later and it’s beyond ugly.

Did you know that burglars will often come knock or ring at the door, and if nobody answers, they figure it's safe to go on in.
Burglars would rather take the path of least resistance so if windows and doors are all locked they probably wouldn’t get very far regardless if they tried knocking or ringing first. And if you open the door to a stranger whose to say they wouldn’t strong arm their way in. Nah I’m not answering the door if I’m not expecting a visitor or a package.

How often does kidnapping of an 84 year old happen. Period. ?
How often is the mother of a famous news anchor kidnapped. Period?
How do you know exactly what a cartel would do or not???
I simply stated an opinion/ option.

Secondly, I think it’s despicable what is being said on this thread about Nancy’s son in law. I think it is honestly victim bashing and blaming someone who thoroughly loves his mother in law and has been left devastated. Of course they are looking at the closest male. In this case he’s a quirky, sensitive academic who might well play mahjong with his mother in law on a regular basis and may cook her lovely dinners regularly too.
In my opinion, he’s a wonderful son in law. Europeans take care of their own in many cases and cherish their elderly a lot more than some other cultures who want them out of sight/ mind.
Whoever said he will be deported should remove their nasty post. He’s very obviously a contributing member of our society. I have the greatest respect for teachers and this one is intelligent enough to teach advanced placement biology classes. He is a gifted, kind person from what I’m reading.
To be fair, we should not be investigating or looking deeply at him because he has not been named as a person of interest
Anything else may not be at this point true at this point

If the SIL is involved, the timing and contents of the ransom note make more sense to me. I don't think it's a true ransom note, but an act of desperation to send police in a different direction.

I'm beginning to wonder if all of the statements and wording up until now wasn't just to mislead the suspect but also to provide an opportunity for them to watch the SIL and how he responded. I'd expect that the whole family has been together this weekend - he would be pretty much cornered, IMO.

I wonder if the medicine pleas were to coax him into taking the medication from the house and bringing it to wherever she is.

Concerning, though, if he's the kidnapper and has been with the family and not with NG. IMO that would point to a non-relative also being involved (someone who could be with NG/not with the family without raising suspicions), or to NG being deceased.

The police pretend they don't know anything, like in the Tepe case. There's a lot of talk that the sister's car was seized by the FBI.

What’s usually the clause in life insurance policies for disappearances? I think suicides aren’t paid out if I recall correctly but is there some kind of waiting period if the person just disappears?

moo
I think they make you have the individual declared deceased before they pay out death benefits.
