For some reason, I am leaning towards the ransom being legitimate. At first, I agreed with others that it seemed like an opportunistic scammer, but the police are still taking it seriously. The details included in the ransom would be easy to verify or dismiss, and the fact they are still investigating it this deeply says to me there’s something in there that aligns with what they believe happened. I think it’s safe to say we are all individuals here, with different views and different habits, which don’t make any of us right or wrong.

I have the phone numbers of many of my parents’ neighbors since I live so far away from them, and they are sick and in their 90s.

But I also had phone numbers for all my daughter’s friends growing up, when it was still just landlines, and I have phone numbers for my eldest granddaughter’s friends, too, of course all cell phones now.

That’s what works for us.

Personally I am not a Banfield fan, but that’s just me. I have no idea if her info is correct or sensationalized.

We all share the identical hope that somehow, someway, Mrs. Guthrie will be rescued alive.

I don’t expect that, unfortunately.

I record the Today show every day and have done so for years, and it was what I watched while getting ready for work in the mornings. I don’t feel that I “know” Savannah, but I cannot conceive of her leaving Arizona while her mother is in jeopardy or worse.

FWIW I have my elderly mother's neighbors’ numbers as well. They have mine too.

That's an excellent point. Makes you wonder if the watch was a consideration for the perp or if they just got lucky.
Did the perp know perhaps that she did not sleep with her watch on?

Well, ANYONE "MAY BE" a person of interest, but if LE has no evidence then they have no one to charge. I'm curious about, if it is true that the brother has arrived in AZ and is actually staying w his sister and husband, wouldn't that be a bit uncomfortable given the AB suggestions about the husband? What gives? jmo
Savannah is also staying at her sisters house

Researching the area, it seems there are neighborhoods that are golf cart friendly. If a vehicle is not able to access the back door that was left open, a golf cart might be able to navigate through. JMOO.

It seems like whoever did this knows a lot about NG and her house. The perpetrator(s) apparently must have known that her cameras were not backed up to the cloud (which at this point I assume is the case, otherwise the police would have uncovered all the footage by now). The perpetrator(s) also must have known the locations of all the cameras. I wish we knew definitively whether she has a dog, because if it was a stranger, the dog might have been aggressive (versus someone that the animal was familiar with). I have a hard time believing someone carried her out of the house. I feel like she went against her will, forcibly perhaps, but alive. I also wish we knew whether the blood by the front door belongs to her or someone else. And seeing the photos of the blood makes it more difficult for me to understand the amount of time that elapsed before calling 911. Hoping for more updates soon.
Not sure if this has been 100% confirmed but yesterday on CNN one of her neighbors was being interviewed and mentioned that she used to have a dog but he said he thought the dog may have passed away. I am seeing mentions of a poodle however he mentioned another type of breed in his interview.. This was the same neighbor that mentioned he would see NG when he would be out walking his two dogs.

Have they said whether the cameras were removed/disabled/smashed (not sure which?) before or after she was allegedly taken from her house?
IIRC the sheriff stated at the PC yesterday that they were still waiting for the company to send them the footage. Hopefully by now they've been able to review the footage, although whether LE discloses their findings might depend on the stage their investigation is in.

Given how unpopulated that area is I wonder how many cell towers there are in the area to pinpoint location.
I lived in Tucson for years and have children that live there now, so I'm confused by the mentions of being rural and unpopulated.

Catalina Foothills is a suburb of the Tucson metropolitan area. I wouldn't consider it unpopulated, it's merely an upscale neighborhood at the base of the mountains with large desert lots, larger homes, and suburban. It's close to trails, resorts, golf, etc.

It's merely 7 miles from the University of Arizona which has 50,000 students.

@BrianEntin
Police and what appear to be feds just showed up at Nancy Guthrie’s house. They are staging in the driveway and appear to be planning to do some kind of search.

This is why I thought it was weird they turned over the house so soon.

It’s very common for law enforcement to return to a scene like this after gathering more information (lab results, tips, etc).

Assuming of course they plan to enter the house.

If he does not believe that the husband had anything to do with it, then they're fine with staying there.

It's dark out there at night (very dark) and the homes are set back from the road with landscaping in front. If vehicles are on cameras footage and if the cameras are detailed enough, it may be possible to apply software and filters to enhance the footage enough to ID a particular make and model..IDK but to my way of thinking it would be more beneficial to use geofencing and see who was in the area the 2 weeks prior through to that Sunday morning. Everything we use from phones, cars, watches, etc leaves a digital footprint. It takes time to gather and analyze all that data.

If someone known to her was on the way to her home to harm her, they'd probably leave their phone at home?

Isn’t this the second search today or am I confused?
They were in the neighborhood but I don’t think they were at the house.

Maybe she was attacked by like one or more Bobcats at her front entryway while opening the front door to get inside. This could explain some blood at entry way inside and outside home plus the smashing of front door cameras. She could have left the apple watch charging when she went to dinner which is why she was not wearing it. The son in law dropped her off after the dinner event 1/31/26 and perhaps he did not walk her inside the home and make sure all was sa fe and secure for her to get to bed. The daughter lived 10 mins away and posted in past about Bobcats at daughter's Tucson property.

But they wouldn’t take the cameras

And maybe, even if the brother was suspicious of the BIL, he'd want to stay there to see what he could find out?

I don't believe that the SIL is a suspect imo and here's why.

This investigation has not been labeled as a murder investigation. Investigation timelines like the Idaho murders are completely different because police had victims DOA. Getting radio silence from the police is normal for a murder to build a case for a suspect.

When dealing with abduction your number one priority is to recover the victim ALIVE. This gives you enough leeway to detain and interrogate anyone you may think has whereabouts of the victim since they are in immediate danger. If LE seriously thought the sister and her husband knew where NG was they wouldn't be seen driving around today.

This makes me wonder if they verified details of the ransom. Hence why the sheriff stated he believes she is still alive in his recent interview.

Unless LE believe NG is no longer alive and have yet to announce it to the public.
