LOL I love your choices. This video was 90% eulogy. That bothered me. Now is the family's chance to scream that their mom needs their heart med or pacemaker is hasn't been monitored and needs to be by this Friday or XYZ...

No urgency. Just a eulogy. I think the sister that lived closer would have taken the lead in this kidnapper video; but no. Think she was too frazzled; and maybe for good reason. The body language between those three was strained for sure.

i think of it differently. they weren't humanizing nancy for us at home, they were humanizing her for the alleged kidnappers. emphasizing that she's a person with a family, not an ATM or means to an end. and having the famous, wealthy, media-trained child deliver most of the message makes sense too. IMO

I was thinking about how prevalent kidnapping for ransom is in Mexico. The boarder city of Nogales, Mexico is about 60 miles from Tucson. I believe the U.S. State Department advises to reconsider travel to many areas of Mexico due to high crime, cartels, and violence.
Express Kidnappings target individuals that are known to simply be able to pay the ransom.

The statement surprised me. It seemed like with the rumors about SIL, and then the flurry of activity, that there must be something there. But the family really seems to be taking the ransom note seriously, and it explains some of the visits and rumors of today in a different light. For the sake of the family, I truly hope that everyone is being truthful. And that Mrs. Guthrie is alive and well. That poor family.
Your tagline says it all...

My heart just breaks for the family, and most importantly for Nancy. I so want to believe she is alive, but it’s hard. Filming that video probably took a lot of tries for them to hold it together. ❤️

But how? They literally ask for proof of life in the video.
I picture it like in the movies, where a photo is taken of the Loved One holding a newspaper with the current date displayed. Surely there must be other ways, but at the moment I can't think of anything.

Seeing lots of comments like this. They’re exhausted and scared and grieving. I’m not sure why they’re expected to show up in any other way than how they did.

It would also potentially open a new line of communication - one that could be monitored or analysed or whatever.
Yes, I agree with this. The goal would be to encourage the abductor/s to keep in contact with the family, news outlets, etc. in hopes that eventually they make a huge mistake somewhere down the line that leads to their capture.

Between reports of police having shown the letter to Savannah, hostage negotiatiors at the house, and now the video they made, I really wonder if it actually is an obsessed fan and they made a demand for savannah to make a video. Man this is so weird and heartbreaking

All I can read is the blurb at the top (No subscription) but that's all I need to see. :(

someone on NN was on with coumo and saying that depending on the type of pacemaker appliance Nancy has, there is a chance a doctor can literally log into her pacemaker to see how it's functioning?

could this be the way they could know if she is alive? or am I not understanding... ?
I tried to do a little research and it appears that most often the pacemaker is synced to an app on the smart phone.

I think the video was so jarring because nothing in my true crime obsessed brain thinks this is a ransom case. Savannah was a lawyer and worked at Crime Tv, surely she must know that ransom is highly unlikely here.

The sister talking to the mom like she left voluntarily also really threw me. My mouth was hanging open during that.

Even though I thought the video was slightly weird, I think it could also be that we “know” Savannah and her personality since she’s on the news and is well known so we can tell she’s being sincere. We do not know Annie and her normal personality or how she acts so it’s harder to gauge her statements.
Agree 100% and also want to add that people react differently to shock and trauma.

Even if this is scripted and the family was told how to feel and what to say. You can still see the body language which can’t be hidden or faked. I teach body language classes in trauma crisis and grief, and this is what we call “forced unity.” The family is not all on the same page, and perhaps it is simply because they didn’t want to do this video. But to me, it is very obvious the body language shows bigger uncertainty.

IIRC, Thursday was the deadline to pay the Ransom, though also IIRC, the ransomers said they would not harm Nancy until Monday, they the bitcoin needed to be in the account my Monday, ostensibly giving more time to pay if they missed Thursday. (Edited because I had the specifics wrong)

I respect that and you must be a great human! Lost my mom at 83; but HAD my mom been abducted and 4 days had gone by and she had meds that kept her alive within a 24 hour period, THAT would be the message. When you're that age, and you're on life sustaining drugs, THAT'S what you drive home. I think the three know she's dead and LE are setting this up to get one of them to crack.

Quite upthread, it was discussed whether or not a body could have been concealed within a tank. It's not without precedent:

A Michigan woman who went missing in 2021 was located three years later in a sealed chemical tank on one of her husband's properties.

Not saying it's related, just pointing out that there is a precedent. JMO
