I think it depends on how smart someone is.Bitcoin is actually much more traceable than cash
NBC: Cryptocurrency is not actually perfectly designed for crime. Just ask the crypto cops.
If you send me bitcoin and it gets deposited into an online wallet, yep, I am going to get caught. Because I am not a criminal and my personal information is already connected to that wallet, I am not trying to hide it.
BUT, there is ways to hide it still. If I have a cold storage and it's not connected to a wallet, apparently I can deposit into a 'mixed' transaction, then pull it out into a new address and it would be impossible to trace at that point.
I was able to google this information with the knowledge I already have of bitcoin, which is not a lot, but enough to know to ask the right questions to find out how to do it
The FBI has not been able to connect the bitcoin address to anyone according to the press conference today and well.. they haven't arrested anyone. They have had 3-4 days. It is not connected to anything online that requires KYC, which requires verification of the person holding the account. IMO
