Agree she will be found out in the desert somewhereI think there’s just no way she’s nearby. They’ve been over that area numerous times, with multiple rounds of searches utilizing people, dogs, drones, helicopters, etc.
If this was planned and is a true kidnapping for ransom, they could have filled the prescriptions ahead of time, especially if they're common meds. They certainly seem to have thought of everything....And at the press conference yesterday, the Sheriff stated that they have been checking with pharmacies to see if any of NG's prescription medicines have been refilled. So it seems to me that LE know that her prescription medicines were left behind.
I just had a horrible thought.
The plea from the family included we will pay if you indeed have Nancy.
What if they paid anyway out of fear and without proof of life, and they are getting Nancy's body back ?
I'm late getting back here, but I think the ransom letter may have been a diversion to muddy the waters of what really happened. Divert attention from someone who either worked in or around the house or from family however close. I'm not sure what day it was received by the two news stations then TMZ.I am squarely on the fence, but admit I'm starting to discard the ransom-letter theory. Why didn't the perp send the ransom note right away? When did the first news station receive it?

it actually did indeed say "again" - confirmed reliable source!again? lol
They could be simply verifying that the people sending the emails have actually been on her property. If that's the case, they know they need to invest more man power to determine who is sending them.Wondering how they will provide CURRENT proof of life with something in the house?
I don’t think family would pay if kidnapper says she died, location of body. All this manpower suggests more than just verification of something in the note. Perhaps they now have potential location of a body... a kidnapper might stand to benefit not only from ransom money, but from a discovered and deceased NG...

Some additional details we can release: 13 News received the new note this morning. We sent the IP address where the note came from to law enforcement. It is NOT the same IP address as the initial note, but it appears the sender used the same type of secure server to hide their IP address. The new note contains something the senders seem to think will prove to investigators they’re the same people who sent the first note.
It has got to be a LE strategy. I remember the sheriff saying in one of the early press conferences that the home had been "handed back over to the Guthrie family" which seemed an extraordinary thing to do when it is a known crime scene with blood on the porch, the "assailant" at large, and the victim missing. If they did hand the house back over, my assumption is the police have been re-securing the scene periodically to monitor the actions of specific family members.I wonder if the securing, releasing, securing, releasing and now securing again is not just messy police work. Possibly early suspicion of inner circle person(s) and wanting to see if they might do anything or move anything or take anything. The notion that not allowing access might not potentially move the investigation forward.
So true that the elderly are so vulnerable to financial predators. My parents both had histories of falling for scams in their 80s. I got wind of one of them during their months of communication to my father, and I couldn't even convince him that it was a scam. Even the bank couldn't stop him (and THEY tried) from sending thousands of dollars out. After my mom died and my father started to decline further, we took control of all bill-paying, umbrellaed all accounts under one managed fiduciary, got rid of his computer (never really used it but it did contain a ton of financial information), cancelled all credit cards but one and took it, froze his credit with all bureaus, changed his address to mine and took his cell phone away and replaced it with a landline connected to his facility so he would only be receiving calls from family and friends. It was a lengthy process, but the peace of mind was worth it. I even tried to go after one of "recipients" with help from local police who spent months tracking the money pickup to a particular bank in CA. Unfortunately, CA declined to take the case because they don't take directives from Florida detectives or judges.
Yes, I was just talking to my sister about that. That Nancy Guthrie didn't want to mess with the cameras except maybe the doorbell one
Makes me wonder if the abductor tossed something out the window on their exit? Maybe something unidentifiable to them, but something personal of NG’s say a piece of jewelry? Purposely tossed for a moment like this?
i do not understand why this level of detail is being released.Mary Coleman

This is my trail of thought too. Jmo.It has got to be a LE strategy. I know it's not funny, the situation, but THIS comment is hilariousThis is a really poorly written statement by the FBI IMO. Did they lay off everyone with access to their Canva and Grammarly accounts?
Coincided with the start of the Olympics. You are assuming the SIL (if indeed a suspect) is acting alone, evading the obvious monitoring of LE right now. That is not possible. Assuming SIL is involved (unknown), they could have proxies who took over and are now actioning "the plan" with no involvement from him at this time. In other words, SIL put the plan in motion and the proxies took it forward. But I honestly do not think SIL is involved - as much likelihood as SG herself is involved!
Likely not related, IMO. Yes SG was supposed to be there but....olympics and missing mom of a commentator aren't adding up IMOCoincided with the start of the Olympics.
