AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Was Just thinking this exact thing-
3 separate events!?😳 The first ransom note was not delivered until Monday evening I think… after news that she was taken Sunday. Could it be a horrible crime against Nancy occurred, then a separate, opportunistic ransom demand? Then rounding out this mess: the idiot scammer. Poor Nancy. Whatever happened to her is a thing of nightmares.
Could even be a simple crime or horrible accident occurred (w/ NG being disposed of) and a random email "ransom" (with only details of the crime scene used as proof) was a cover-up/distraction. Stranger things have happened.

What if she was transported in it? It's a possibility. Now I am wondering about why the garage door really opened and shut in the course of minutes around 9 ish that night.
Remind me. How did they have the time stamps from the garage door? 'Aybebit can be opened from a phone? Yet she had no security system /subscription cameras?

On paper who can bring in writing analysts, they can examine the paper and where it is sold from...etc...

Using the computer to send ransom notes is so much hard or nearly impossible to trace.
Three days later? And why send to the news media rather than the family or someone related to the family with readily available contact info if they thought they could send electronically without being caught?

I haven’t seen anything about how they have those times either.

I'm feeling really hopeful about the cameras taken from the roof today by FBI. Albeit it should've been done 6 days ago.

Anyone know if these are also Google Nest? Or is this a different kind of camera?

This is the second news outlet saying that a letter was well written/structured. That stands out to me.

Are they playing to the ego of the person who wrote it? Are the letters structured in some sort of particularly striking way?

I just don't think that even a "well-written" ransom note would make me publicly comment on the fact that it was well written. Seems like a given that an adult who planned a kidnapping and led law enforcement on a week long wild goose chase could put together some paragraphs.

Maybe the kidnapper is waxing poetic?

MOO
I’m still catching up but you’d be surprised how few people can write well. I worked with Ph.D.s who would lift sections from Wikipedia.

Assume it’s one of those new type of systems that you can open the garage door from a phone app?

I could be wrong. I was referring to LE. I thought early on I heard from them that SIL dropped her off and then that changed after AB released her ā€œinfoā€ and they reverted back to family.

Pretty sure articles said the SIL Tommaso dropped off NG alone that night and was the last to have seen her.

I'm encouraged.

If you couple that statement with all the activity we saw today (which is not explained by simply verifying a tip), then we could actually be very close to a conclusion.

If so, I believe that the offender is very close to home, if you know what I mean.

I said this earlier, but there has just got to be footage of a vehicle of interest somewhere. As reporters have noted, they haven't put out an image, a description, nothing.

The less they share, the more they know.

Of course I'm operating from a different point of view than you are. I'm waiting for a killer to be caught, and a body to be found.
I get your drift. I'm 85% on the same page.
However, I wish POTUS hadn't made those comments as it might spook the perpetrator who could react in an unfavorable way somehow.

Maybe they're taking her car to a location for her to get in it and return home?
Wishful thinking but wouldn't that be a happy ending

Hard to understand the significance of NG’s car being towed from the garage after they’ve been in the house for days…could this be something more than a nothing-burger?
Just my opinion, but maybe LE got some evidence results back from labs and now are curious to see whose dna is primary on the steering wheel. I've always thought it odd NG's cell phone was in the car, when it seems most people would have their phone in the house with them. Just my random thoughts/guesses, fwiw.

I think given the notoriety of the case, the FBI bring involved was inevitable.
the FBI has been assisting all week.. but this feels different. It feels like they have taken over. JMO I'm hoping we will get more info.

Derrick Callella, the man accused of sending a hoax ransom text in the Guthrie case, appeared in the Central District of California court today and was granted release on conditions and $20,000 surety bond.

Of course he was released. The severity of the bond will surely deter anyone in the future from engaging in a similar crime of extortion.;)

Sorry but I can't be encouraged if she is deceased. I said I was on the fence. I don't know what you mean by a different point of view than me - were you always definitive that she was deceased?
