The only thing is that the first "ransom letter" referenced the Apple Watch's location in the house and it was that fact that apparently led the FBI to at least take the note seriously and consider it. I would think that means that the Apple Watch was in a somewhat not-totally-obvious location in the house, otherwise "her Apple Watch was sitting on the nightstand charging" isn't exactly "only the kidnapper would know" significant information.

That's a good point. I also still don't think SG is an obvious target for money. Yes, she makes on-air talent money. But an estimated salary of 8 million a year isn't an "extreme" amount when compared with hedge funds, finance, celebrities, athlete salaries. I just don't see money being the true motive here. But who knows.

I also don't think it's family. This is way too big of a spectacle. What kind of family member would try to carry off a crime when a close relative is not just a public figure, but national news media. That seems wildly risky. And if someone does get a big bitcoin payoff....how exactly would a known family member suddenly hide their big windfall? Suddenly they have money to pay off debt? Buy nicer cars? Take tropical vacations? Disappear overseas and think no one will notice?

The only reason AG's husband's name has been out there is because AB reported that a LE told her that he "may" be a suspect. Nothing has ever been confirmed. There was a big flurry of comments when it was reported that LE was first seen at AG's house earlier in the week. But then that turned out to be in preparation for the family's first video release. It's definitely shady that the sheriff has suddenly backtracked and is being tight-lipped on who actually dropped Nancy off after the family dinner. But he has also said conflicting info about the church service, what time the family got to the house, how much time they spent looking before calling 911, if the cameras were smashed or not, etc. There's either shady things about the family's timeline, or he purposely is releasing info scattered, or he spoke before having all his facts verified. No idea.
Seems very weird. Either the sheriff is incompetent or deliberately misleading. We do know there was a no-confidence vote for the sheriff.

JMOO---How corrupt could this sheriff be? Could there be involvement? Just missing cameras, not processing the scene correctly, releasing the scene too early---seems to be oddly strange to me. Diliberately done? IDK Just throwing out theories.

My inquiring mind wants to know, if the kidnappers can send a note to the local news station, why can't they also send a generic photo of NG to show proof of life? What would be so hard about that?? I mean, they can print it off and send it along with however they are sending the note or email.

DBM - I don't think this is really adding to the discussion and there's already plenty of noise in this thread.

Yes, Nancy’s car is interesting, and they may have just found out about front end damage on Nancy’s car, maybe when preps took her to desert to kill, bury her( sorry), driving, no lights on, full moon, hit rocks. They returned car, not sure how they got into garage without an alert, maybe opened door manually?
I know I never leave my house keys on my key ring when I drop my car off for service. The person servicing the car could easily go to walmart around the corner during test driving my car or on his lunch and make copies. My address is right on the paperworkso easy breezy. I see countless people all the time hand over their huge set of keys with not even a thought.

So can we stop bashing on Aphrodite Jones now? Good lord.
Right. Aphrodite is a friend and colleague of Websleuths. And an excellent crime researcher and reporter.

one would think she wouldn't say anything that could expose an investigation or throw someone potentially not guilty under the bus yet that's possibly IMO where we are
agree - I have no respect for AB leaking this info AT ALL unless its sanctioned by LE which it appears it is not but who knows.
I am just relaying what is happening on that front.

AB is not one of my trusted go to people - nor is her friend MegKelly.

I'm reading between the lines.....It's a "What would you do?"
I wouldn't be surprised if she has been in touch with Savannah....
Aphrodite Jones is well known
For all we know, Savannah is reading this thread, too. Who knows. But this sounds like a what would you do poll. I'm totally creeped out. But that's just me. :)

is it possible that Nancy tried to get into her car and escape? perhaps a struggle in the garage and the watch was removed and and thrown into the car ( if that's where it was ) ? maybe they then pulled her out the front door so the garage door would not be opened throwing light around. I honestly can't stop saying how much this case is giving me JBR vibes.

i imagine that LE was not happy at all with DJT's comments. Really out of line and self serving in my opinion.
Right, he has chimed in a few times on this case. A chance to get in spotlight!

As a verified insider she is not required to provide either.
I think we just want to confirm if Aphrodite Jones does indeed know that a white van has actually been found and collected. Or, did she just misread that part after seeing LE is looking for the white van and doesn't actually know if it was found and collected.

Not even asking for a source, just want to clarify that she does indeed know, or at least have been told, that the van has been identified and collected. Because that would be new information we haven't seen reported anywhere else.

My only hope is that this level of incompetence is an act...However, with some of the things that have been done thus far, it's hard to hang onto that hope. I'm just thankful that the FBI has joined in the effort to bring NG home. I hope is the sheriff has allowed them to basically take over this investigation.

This is a very good article that details Nancy’s career after her husband died in 1988.

Nancy worked for the U of A from August 1990 until Jan. 1, 2007, first as spokeswoman for University Medical Center and later as associate to the vice president of university advancement.

As part of her duties, she coordinated the Center Stage program, which brought in musicians from the university and beyond to put on monthly lunchtime musical performances at the hospital for staff, patients and visitors. She also served as program director for Medcamp, the U of A’s annual introduction to the medical field for select Arizona high school students.

In recognition of her work, Nancy was elected president of the Southern Arizona chapter of the Public Relations Society of America in 2000.

Retired U of A vice provost Elizabeth Ervin said she was working in marketing and communications for the College of Fine Arts in the 1990s, when Nancy was brought in to help them broaden their reach “beyond our own walls.”

She said Nancy would lead regular committee meetings on how they could improve and expand their messaging at a time when the university’s various departments were doing great things but in an isolated, “siloed” sort of way.

Ervin said she and her colleagues looked forward to those meetings because Nancy kept them upbeat and fun. “She was a good leader,” she said.

You never would have guessed the woman was in the early years of a new career after the death of her husband.

“She was always extremely positive,” Ervin said. “She has an amazingly positive spirit.”

Former reporter Carla McClain said she often interacted with the public relations team at University Medical Center during her career covering health care for the Tucson Citizen and the Arizona Daily Star. She described Nancy as level-headed, accommodating, gracious and “totally upfront.”

She was just great to work with. She understood what my job was as well as her own,” McClain said. “When you encounter good people in life, you know it right away, and Nancy is a very good person through and through. There’s a kindness and an aura around people like that.”

That’s what makes what’s happening now so unfathomable, she said. “This is a woman who I’m certain has no enemies,"

Cyber security PhD student checking in here. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the digital trail (even behind a VPN server) is what might help to take them down. Our federal cyber capabilities are extremely powerful.

Would adding a photo/video/audio file be easier to trace? Is there a way to truly delete the info attached to it?

Hard working, strong, successful lady. She overcame untimely death of husband and raised some pretty successful kids. Id say her life spoke well of a good person doing her part in the world to make this crazy place a bit better. All the more tragic, unfair and infuriating. This is someone's mom, grandma, church friend, and former colleague. Prayers she is ok and whatever [link removed] brought to justice.

Question for people with knowledge of car mechanics. If a car has not been driven for a long period of time is it possible it will not start easily?
i wouldn't think that would be an issue on a 2025/2026 vehicle which is what i read here last night that hers was....

I question his ability to go to his mother-in-law’s house, stay there for 40 minutes, kidnap and drive her somewhere, return home and sneak back into his home with his wife (Nancy’s daughter) or kids even, not noticing he was missing. Plus he’s been a family,y member for decades it seems. Suddenly he turns heartless and does this to his wife’s mom? serious doubts about that. MOO
Could it be that the whole situation was a lot longer? That something happened over the dinner time and we are focused on just the late night return to the house? IF it was the family, that opens up the time frame significantly.
Just trying to think outside of the box. I have no real theory, this case has thrown me for a loop for sure.

Of course, just my (current) opinion.

before this has everyone chasing their tail and we go in circles again.... I think the phone being found in her car is NOT correct.

Her phone was found at her home.

The articles that said 'in the car' said it was said on the Today show on Tuesday (I don't even want to link the articles) I listened to it last night, I heard no reference to 'in her car'.

Link to the today show if anyone wants to take the time to listen to it lol

law and crime video posted here upthread yesterday has MIke King of profiling evil stating her phone was in her car. made me listen twice bc of that.

Just a lot of conflicting info JMO

I agree with you in that most articles do not say it was found “in the car”, but just throwing this thought out there 😝
I consider the garage of a home part of the home, so “found at her home” might still fit since the car was inside the garage, afaik.
Maybe that’s just me, jmo.

It must be a very difficult decision! One can never know what they would do if put in the position the Guthries are in… but if the ask is 7 mil, and I can say ok, it’s one year salary for us- is that worth it? If I have 10-15 more earning years to make it up I think I would take the gamble. If Nancy is returned it is no doubt worth it! Either way, I would trust the authorities will do all they can to apprehend the ransomers.
And if she is not? I would not want to cater to such horrific evil. Unless i was given solid proof, as in bring her right to a designated spot in person. And even then I would need the fbi to get the money back. I hope it is not a choice they would have to make. It kind of reminds me of the wizard of oz where he was all powerful making demands until Dorothy finally discovered he was just a man behind a wall. Hope LE can bring this or these cowards out soon. Moo

Did Nancy normally take Ubers to her daughter's house? They don't live too far away. Could have the lights/cameras been damaged between the time she left and time she arrived home? Finally, and while I am sure she is a very independent woman, I wonder why she was actually living alone considering how very frail she was according to her family- not that it makes a difference now but a thought I wonder with this.
