who locked the 4 locks back?
Did they say no forced entry or all the doors were locked when the family arrived? Who said the doors were locked? Why would any abductor lock doors? Totally nutty. JMO

I know it’s been mentioned the SIL went to a bar after dropping N off at her house. Where is the bar located? How long was he there? Did he meet anyone? Was he drinking (no judgement, just thinking it might escalate anger/boldness). When did he arrive home? Hopefully the bar, DOT and neighborhood cameras will show something. LE is awfully quiet and no longer asking for help/tips from the public, makes me think an arrest will happen in the next few days.
Where did you hear this? Do you have a link?

If i open the door to let someone step in, i need to be out of their way. I would standing over by the I below the picture. They couldn't get in if I stood in the middle or by the missing nest cam. They would need to go ahead of me then turn and do something to harm me while I am still outside. Ok...I am with you so far. I am standing on the porch bleeding now. I need to stand there kinda still for a minute to make the position of the blood work. I can see that too. Now to account for the sputum in the blood and the spray....If I am punched in the nose in that spot and I continue to stand there wouldn't there be way more blood? Maybe I am just a heavy bleeder. A simple cut/scrape doesn't work because of the sputum, right?
Was there sputum in it?I don’t think it was a spray, just droplets as if falling straight down.A bloody ,dripping nose would do this.I don’t think she stood there for long.Hit and carried or pulled inside as she was starting to re-enter.

So much appears to have happened with the investigation over the weekend, where do you think we stand?

1) As far as Annie Guthrie's car that's reportedly impounded, would they be looking for blood and download data from the on-board computer showing any movement during the early Sunday morning time frame of the crime?

2) Nancy Guthrie's Subaru impounded to see if someone was hiding in the car while the garage was opened? Maybe looking for touch DNA on handles foreign to the family?

3) Guessing that the septic tank check was just a precaution since no proof of life for Nancy and no body found elsewhere?

4) Finding the camera on top of roof was bizarre. Again, there was probably no subscription service so even though camera found and not smashed this time, data written over top of the time period in question probably makes it useless.

Anything else significant I missed? probably so

Thank you again Tricia for linking this early press conference to rewatch. Very interesting.

"I believe what happened was at 9.45 in the evening her children left her off... At some time earlier [sic] that morning they got a call from uh, somebody at the church who said hey your mom’s not here…um, the family went to the house. I’m thinking they spent some time looking for her themselves before they called us, so I’m guessing maybe they got there around 11. So they did some searching and they realized hey we need some help, and then they called 911”

So one question I've been pondering - about where the information came from that the family spent an hour searching before calling 911- is The Sheriff himself.

Ie he could also be the inaccurate source of the 'church' phonecall. Not saying he is, just that it's possible.
That has been debunked. Of course I don't have a link, but it's been shown the gap between the family going to check on NG and calling 911 was closer to 5 minutes. JMO

Agreed. I believe the same. Arrests “soon”, so they have advised SG not to pay ransom. LE is onto something now.
If someone has NG, would they really kill her, or when they realize there will be no money, would they just let her go? Letting her go is a risk because she can identify places and people.

Hope this isn't the case, but maybe they signaled cadaver and there's no need for them to be brought back? The opposite possibility is they didn't pick up anything.
I'm a K9 handler - tracking dogs (the ones that track humans movements) are not typically also trained as cadaver dogs. I am *not* saying there are not K9s who do both, but typically they are trained very specifically for exact jobs (tracking, HRD, narcotics, patrol/take down, bomb). OT a bit but my K9 is a bloodhound who will track you down for miles, even through water. Our team also had a bloodhound who WAS also trained as an HRD (Human Remans Detection) dog & was able to locate a body completely underwater. Scent is fascinating.

THAT SAID, it's possible those initial K9s were tracking dogs and I know when my K9 loses the scent on the ground she will do "air scenting" and initiate a "proximity alert" indicating she can still pick up the scent but there's not a clear track to follow anymore on foot. This can happen when someone is put into a vehicle or perhaps removed from the ground in another fashion (picked up/carried/etc)

In a desert setting - scent is difficult because of the wide open space. Wind carries scent and in flat open spaces there's nowhere for the scent to "pool" and the wind can blow the sand. It's just difficult to do, but in areas that still have houses, landscaping, etc. K9s can be extremely helpful.

Trying out this theory: NG arrives home and gets notification of a delivery. Yes, I know it's late but it's also around her birthday so maybe it seemed plausible to her. She opens the front door to retreive what she thinks is a gift/flowers, and is hit on the head.

Probably not likely but I'm trying to make sense of the front stoop scene.

Regarding the blood: Maybe NG's arm was brushed against hard or she banged it / scraped it against the door. In the older population, skin tears are so common and can bleed quite a bit, while are just minor abrasions.
Also, it might be the bleeding is more profuse due to medication she takes. I am just offering my opinion here based on past experience with elderly relatives and, more recently, with my husband: he nicked his finger while doing dishes and it looked like a crime scene. When we washed his hand, it was the slightest of cuts...I sent him to the doctor to follow-up; he needed a supplement to help with that.

It happens, but I am sure the CSI would have identified the age of the blood stains (and who wouldn't clean it up ASAP?) and possibly if it was due to a puncture or a slower bleed.

Opinions, all opinions.

The vast majority of women in the house on their own are cautious about opening their door after dark, unless expecting someone /a delivery. In the middle of the night it must have been something exceptional to make her unlock her door ,especially in her night wear unless it was someone she knew or an emergency . I have wondered if it was someone impersonating a police officer.
and not having a hearing aid in....

She would have only been a couple of feet out of the house, if she were holding the door open, and she had someone she knew entering.
I understand what you are saying, but I don’t know anyone who steps outside to let people in here. usually we just back up. Especially, in the dark. There are rattlesnakes, coyotes, and javelina out there. I even had a javelina give birth right at my front door.

You would hope LE in these 'missing person' or 'searching for a body' situations use heat-seeling drones early on so they didn't have to rely solely on naked-eye visibility.
I wondered if heat seeking equipment was used. Maybe find her nearby, early on that way. If she was driven out of town to desert, too vast to check out there.

I just keep thinking, if my nose bleeds I'm either holding my hand up straight away to stem it, or it's falling down onto my shirt. You'd have to be standing pretty awkwardly IMO for the blood to just fall straight to the floor and land like that, unless someone was holding my arms behind my back in which case my body would naturally lurch forward slightly.

Edit - grammar (fat fingers!)

Letting her go, if she is alive, is INSANELY risky as there will be evidence with her that could potentially identify kidnappers/locations. I personally don't think she's still alive, and I'm still not sold that ransom demanders are actually kidnappers but even "dumping" her body is risky at this point, though somethings going to have to be done at some point. Or already done.

This sounds more plausible!

Looking at that front door, I keep thinking that maybe the door hit her arm and that is how she started bleeding. This would make sense if she was made to open that door and smash that camera so the perp didn't have to go near it. Didn't leave a trail because she was only partially out the door, no shoe/footprints.

Thanks for the helping me make sense of this in my own mind lol I kept thinking that door hitting her arm would definitely break the skin and cause bleeding, but thought maybe when an amazon package or something was delivered. Making her smash the camera makes sense to me now.

sputum in the blood complicates this for me. Not just simple as cut/punched/scratched and dripped

  • #14,156
That does make some sense because if any images were captured, it would be of HER dismantling the camera. But the blood does go away from the stoop and down the walkway in drips iirc.

Family has been criticized because they immediately did not call 911. Agree that the family would check around first. Her car was in the garage. Check inside. Outside. Walk around. Then, call 911.

I mentioned this awhile back - from the picture I saw it appeared to be droplets that landed straight down. There didn't appear (in my very not at all professional opinion) to be splatter or cast off or "movement" in the drops. It looked, to me, like something or someone was stationary when that blood dripped.

With Kindness and Respect to All: Today is no doubt going to be a busy day on WS. Please list your source if reporting new information. It takes too much time trying to verify undocumented claims, causes confusion, and wastes everyone’s time reading through unproven facts - not to mention Trish’s time and that of the Mods. In other words, please don’t send everyone down a rabbit hole. Opinions are great, but unsourced information is not acceptable as fact. Thank you!

but they said she went in through the garage
Correct, that's what they said. But all they seem to know is the garage door opened/closed.
