AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Trying out this theory: NG arrives home and gets notification of a delivery. Yes, I know it's late but it's also around her birthday so maybe it seemed plausible to her. She opens the front door to retreive what she thinks is a gift/flowers, and is hit on the head.

Probably not likely but I'm trying to make sense of the front stoop scene.

sputum in the blood

I think it's telling that there were no statements directly toward their mother in the newest video. I know it's all carefully scripted, but the lack of messages of love and support really stood out to me, as if they already know she's no longer able to hear anything.
This is a really good point. The previous family video spoke directly to Nancy. This one spoke only to the supposed abductor, about Nancy, not to her, which does seem significant.

No, I don't think anyone knocked. I get package notifications without the delivery person ever knocking. At least where I live, deliveries are left at the door and I get a photo of the package. Then I open the door.

It's just an idea to make sense of the blood in that spot.

jmo
So you think it was a delivery driver? Or the kidnapper was hanging around outside waiting for a package to arrive and hope NG opened the door?

I think there is a strong possibility that you are right. She was in fragile health to begin with.

Amateur opinion and speculation only
I think she was carried out of home because there were droplets, not trail of blood or footprints.

They are stretching out when the ransom payment will be paid( maybe never). LE believe NG is no longer alive, no rush to pay, and ransom may be a scam.
Looking for NG body in septic tank. Other nearby hiding spots( grid search)
Have they changed the deadline? The last I read it was still at 5pm today.

Yes the apple watch, keys and wallet were shown on a nightstand. If i remember correctly the front door was left unlocked and the back door was left wide open
Shown or found? I don’t remember seeing any pictures of the crime scene. Can you share the link for that?

Regarding the blood, if I remember correctly, it has never been stated that the blood drops/splatter happened that night. She easily could have gotten a bloody nose earlier in the day, like when checking for the mail or waiting for the Uber (which that could be verified). Also, keep in mind, a bloody nose could look like a massacre just happened or it can just happened.

Was there sputum in it?I don’t think it was a spray, just droplets as if falling straight down.A bloody ,dripping nose would do this.I don’t think she stood there for long.Hit and carried or pulled inside as she was starting to re-enter.
zoom in on the picture you posted. some spray over to one side (I am no expert. Just looks different from other drops)

Just thinking if she was up (bathroom), heard a noise a the door - no knock - she may have opened it.
NG has been described as sharp as a tack. There’s no way I see NG opening that door after 10pm unless she absolutely knew who was on the other side.

My theory is the blood drops aren't from that night, and the perps entered via the garage or other door entrance through keypad. I've thought all along it was someone who was linked to NG via contract work such as housecleaner, handyman, etc.
I would go along with that except I find it really hard to believe NG wouldn't clean up blood from her front step, if it happened previously. She has a beautiful home and is a well-put-together woman. Most people would clean up bodily fluid outside their front door, imo. It's unsightly, at minimum.

Unless it happened as she was being picked up by Uber that night and it was just an "oops" injury that is coincidental to the crime. (I don't think so, but we don't know.)

Wish we knew what the Uber driver said about the ride and what door she emerged from.

Now that I think about it, do we know she Uber'd from her home or was she elsewhere??

Where did you hear this? Do you have a link?
I agree they appear to be passive blood drops as she stood at the front door area bleeding. There is what appears to me to be a projected/impact spatter to the right of the mat - meaning a force coming in to contact with an already actively bleeding source. Although, it is possible that it could be aspirated blood from a couch or sneeze while actively bleeding. Hopefully LE tested that area to determine if there was air/mucus mixed in with the blood. Poor Nancy.
Yesterday on her podcast, The Nerve, Maureen Callahan was discussing Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance with Ashleigh Banfield.

Maureen said she read that the blood drops on the porch had been tested and the blood came from Nancy. Also that there was sputum mixed with it, that suggested it had come from her mouth or nose (as opposed to a cut on her arm, say).

Just throwing this out there, maybe someone else was tipped off to go to N’s house when she was at AG’s to remove the cameras/damage floodlights etc. Then they meet there later to remove her from her house? I know a camera detected movement outside around 1:40am approximately, so that would mean another camera still was activated (not removed). What would be the reason to search the sewer tanks yesterday? When they searched the septic tank a day or so before that? Why wait and not check it out at the same time? I don’t know if this means anything or not? They brought the K9 back over the weekend, they must have a reason why they wanted to check out. Did they take the K9 to the backyard and inside the garage/house?

I think a deputy said they were checking sewer water flow to see what direction water was flowing. Maybe to find a body as it floats down the channel, corners, where to look next?

I have not seen any info that has changed in hat deadline. I am a nervous wreck. I wonder if the family has already paid since they have the bitcoin address.

I think it's possible the real bad guy(s) who harmed NG did not (at all) anticipate the ransom extortion demands. On a much smaller scale this happens to families of missing people that got a little bit of news coverage. It's horrible. Perhaps at first it was somewhat of a relief, but now, it's got insane attention and naturally brought in investigators that they probably never even knew existed within the federal government looking at this. This case is first absolutely tragic, second, IMO, very interesting.

If I am not mistaken, on the first video of the front porch, where the blood is visible, there is a small Amazon pouch tucked into the corner across from the door on the right side.

My recall might be faulty. Our cameras point at the person who comes to the door, and at their back so we can see if packages have been left where we've designated for drop off.

Opinions with a smattering of "is this fact? Please verify?"

I have wondered if someone did fake AI voices of family members?

Statistically, I just think it is a lot more likely that Nancy was either deliberately or accidentally killed by someone she knew rather than dying after being kidnapped by strangers. I also believe that the ransom plot bloomed out of her death, because they were desperate to send the investigation off looking for strangers and not at them. The ransom letter came much later than the experts think it should have, and I think that's the reason.

Who is them? Hopefully, we are going to find out sooner rather than later.

I agree completely. I believe that Nancy was killed (possibly accidentally) by someone she knew and I think the ransom note was sent to distract. It sounds like there are details in the ransom note that would only be known to someone who knew Nancy and her house.

I hope and pray there is an answer soon and peace for the family.

She was on blood thinners so she might be accustomed to getting bumped and bleeding on the regular. She's old. I'm a lot younger and wouldn't bother to clean up something outside. Pretty sure she has help to tend the house, yard, pool. If it happened at night, she might hose it off in the daylight, but by then she was gone.

I'm assuming she Ubered from her house, but don't have proof.
