AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

This has probably been asked/answered multiple times, but I have not read where SG was at the time of her mother's disappearance or when she arrived in Tucson. Presumably, SG was preparing to go to Milan to cover the Olympics for the Today
Show. I know that she had vocal cord surgery and had taken time off from her hosting duties to recuperate. Was she at home (in New York) or had she been in Tucson during her recovery from surgery?

Yes, but LE has to work backwards to get to that and I suspect that's exactly what's taking them so long. If they're starting from TMZ's server and working backwards for the IP of the original sender they're going to need a lot of warrants in a lot of countries to track IPs from node to node.

If they have a suspect starting point then yes, a warrant to that suspect's ISP will show an initial request to TOR but nothing after that. The ISP has no means to track through the nodes as the query travels world-wide. It's kind of the whole point of TOR nodes.

Having said that it would definitely be a red flag if someone under investigation was using TOR browser at the time the ransom note was received.

My opinion only.
I have been wondering if the videos from the family, spread out like they are in time, is a delay tactic to keep the kidnapper occupied while they do the needed legwork on the messages.

Something else that is bothering me...

The language is off, "We understand..." why would you need to say that? Both SG videos use that language. According to people who have seen the letters they are very well written and organized, why would you need to confirm understanding but not mention what it is you understand?

What do you make of the FBI basically confirming the contact in DC's complaint?
Just protocol.
They may be speculating on it but keeping it bookmarked.
ONLY MY OPINION.

Information we thought we knew but which is now no longer fact:

The door was locked/unlocked - no official info

There were signs of forced entry - no official info

The back door was wide open - no official info

Would the FBI include it in a criminal complaint (against the hoaxer) if it was false?

Presumably not!

I see your post with link to those docs now, hadn't seen it before! Thanks!

ETA: the end of my sentence lol

Still considering a home invasion/robbery gone wrong, but the taking of Nancy -- alive or not -- is sticking in my mind as a problem
So all that is left is a ransom kidnapping or just someone who wanted Nancy gone ?
Again hoping LE are building a case and have an idea.
Imo.

If you’re new (or newish) to SAPC, we’re so glad to have you here! If you will be joining us for one of your first times at SAPC, here are a few things you can expect during our service.

Worship lasts about 60-70 minutes and includes prayer, music, and a message to grow your faith. Please engage however you feel comfortable.
We also offer livestreams of our 9:00 am and 10:45 am Worship Services. Click here to watch online.
Children are invited to participate in worship and/or attend Sunday School on Sunday mornings. We also have a playground for after the Service.
Plan Your Visit | St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church

I wish we knew if NG regularly attended the 9am or the 10:45 Sunday service.

I am looking into the confusion surrounding the parishioner who first notified Nancy’s family of her absence. While few details were provided—and the information was eventually omitted from the press conference's updated timeline—the timing is critical.
Many believe the family was called(we're still uncertain how they were notified whether they went by Annie's house or called her) at 11:00 AM, but I find that unlikely. An alarm wouldn't typically be sounded only 15 minutes after a service begins; it is more probable that the call occurred after Mass ended and Nancy’s absence was confirmed. Based on the church website, the timeline becomes much clearer:
Contemporary Mass: Early morning.
Traditional Mass: Starts at 10:45 AM.
Assuming Nancy attended the traditional service, which typically lasts 60 minutes, the Mass would have concluded around 11:45 AM. This creates a very narrow window between the end of the service and the moment the family arrived at Nancy’s house to discover the scene.
It is likely the family made several calls while en route, which may have served as an additional red flag. Furthermore, we should consider if Nancy used an automated medication dispenser; these devices often sound an alarm or alert a designated family member if a dose isn't taken, which could have been another factor in the family's quick response.
But if she and her friends attended via Zoom, multiple things can happen at once.

The concerned person could have texted while viewing the service, or stepped away and phone AG, as early as 10:50 if she didn’t see NG online.

I’m in a lot of Zoom meetings and depending on the group, we sometimes log in 5-10 minutes early to chat before the official proceedings begin. If this was the routine for a cohort of NG’s friends, they would have noted her absence AND been able to call or text AG well before 11am.

Pretty sure they also have a 9 a.m. service. JMO

Nancy's church Catalina Foothills Church (CFC) in Tucson offers two Sunday services: a Traditional Service at 8:45 AM and a Modern Service at 10:45 AM. Both services last approximately 60 minutes.

I'll chime in as someone who has served on every kind of committee at church - if someone is signed up to do something Sunday morning, an absence is definitely noted! Did she serve as greeter, coffee hour hostess, altar prep. Was she in t he choir or scheduled to read scripture, etc? I know she can't walk long distances but it's not out of the realm she can still volunteer to serve at church.

If not, I would think a friend would wait until service is over before alerting a family member. I mean, people are sometimes late, ykwim?

Having said that, I have doubts about the call from a church friend. Did it really happen? idk

I was under the impression that Mrs. Guthrie was missed at Sunday school first.

If her friends had expected her then and she still hadn’t arrived in time for the regular service I can see them becoming concerned enough to go ahead and call to check on her at that time.

All imo

I saw this. I wonder what the abductors think now that everyone is watching the bitcoin account.

The second letter could've provided other instructions or another account altogether ("we understand" and "we will pay"), but with the information we have it is not a good sign to see that account still empty.

JMO.

She was in NY. She had been on Today the week prior and was supposed to be on on Monday morning, as well.

She was leaving onTuesday morning for Milan.

Sen. Mark Kelly said she called him on Sunday as she was leaving NY to fly out to AZ to ask for help with everything with her mom.

No, not the usual targets. But their targets are anyone they can get money for.

I don't think cartels are the most likely perpetrators but I am firmly behind a kidnapping for ransom as opposed to a family member.
Due to the disruption of cartels normal business (drugs) into the United States, might they be exploring new revenue streams IMHO.

Yes, it rings true to me, too. But it seems LE is distancing it from the timeline and that makes me hop on the fence about it.

Id be curious if TC took any phone calls or made any phone calls during the 10 minute ride with NG in the car. A phone call that would have been revealing of something hidden such as an affair or something of that nature. Bluetooth connect speakerphone, etc? I wonder if LE has looked at his phone log?

I'd think the business model would be to get the money swiftly, while this is lingering on.

Regarding the blood on the porch. It was her birthday weekend. Someone could have sent flowers and when she went to get them she could have cut her hand or whatever body part, picked them up and went back in. That could have happened that morning or afternoon. The day before. Who knows. The fact that it was pretty isolated is puzzling.

I’m wondering if the big clue is with the phone call from a church goer to, presumably, AG. When did it come in? Is there a record of a phone call to Nancy’s phone from her kid(s). What time did they call? When did they go over? There has to be a reason why police totally took that out of the timeline. They initially said there was an hour between arrival time at Nancy’s house and the 911 call.

Did Nancy tell them she wouldn’t be going to church the next day because of the prior night’s dinner? If so (we probably will never know), did AG show little concern and just assumed Nancy slept in?

Sooooo much to contemplate!
I want to know if there were more blood drops further down the porch or inside the house….seems like there would have been at least a few more spots…..

I was under the impression she attended virtually via Zoom or similar. Do we know?
