AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

When do you think SG will return to her morning job?

She was on medical leave to undergo vocal surgery and according to this link, she was set to return to the air on January 26th, 2026. Nancy celebrated her 84th birthday on January 27th, and just a few days later, everything hit the fan.

The SIL claim was clickbait. Neither the SIL nor AG are involved. If authorities even had a tiny suspicion they were, then they would have search warrants. I know crime stats show there's a connection between last person to see a victim but LEs actions prove they are not suspects at this time.
Can you provide links ? ^^^
Tia.

It sounds like you're commenting opinion as fact, but I haven't seen this stated in msm anywhere at this time ?
LE's actions prove quite the opposite, in my opinion.

No one has been cleared yet, afaik.
LE do not have viable suspects or persons of interest at this time.
That doesn't mean there aren't any, though.

IF AG/SIL willingly allowed LE to search their residence, LE wouldn't need warrants.
And it appears that might have been the case, but not sure yet.
It's a bit early to say for sure that LE aren't looking at them.
At least their actions don't seem to be focusing outwards.

Hoping for a break soon, either way.
Nancy needs to come back home !
Omo.

Just to provide some color and possible new possibilities to consider. The "gem show" is currently going on in Tucson. This is a HUGE event that brings tens of thousands of people from around the world every year.

Relevance is that thousands of out-of-towners are there. This could provide easy cover for a planned kidnapping. The police are also extremely busy although the bulk of the extra security work is done by the Tucson Police Department rather than the Pima County Sheriff Department based on personal observation over many years. There is usually an uptick in crime during the show but it's generally just private deals gone bad, hotel room petty theft, and so forth.

Also, someone mentioned upthread that the state police should have been in charge from the start. I disagree. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS, state police) primarily does highway patrol. It is the sheriff's office that usually does investigations. Both are competent agencies but neither has the tools of the FBI. I think Sheriff Nanos has admitted some mistakes in this investigation but I personally think we should cut him some slack. This quickly turned into a high profile investigation after initially seeming to be a search for an elderly person that wandered off, something they unfortunately deal with every day.

Thank you for this.
Is this newly released information?
Another poster stated earlier that someone had talked with her pastor and I asked them for a link since I hadn't heard that but they never got back to me.

My question is why did the New York Times state that a friend contacted the family when Nancy wasn't sitting in her pew?

Is there virtual pews?
My opinion is that the New York Times transposed the Sheriff's initial statement and took liberty with words, saying they didn't see her in her pew.

No fact checking occurred, obviously.

But in just a single service to notice that NG didnt comment so the person makes a call to the family? If I missed a friends chat comments in one service, I would assume they didn’t feel well, took a weekend trip or even missed an alarm. If they didn’t show up for the following Sunday I would check in with them.
I just don't find this suspicious. We're hearing church friend, but this could have been a long time friend of Nancy's that she saw frequently. If they always watched this live stream at the same time and chatted (text or online) the disappearance was noted. Probably not a huge deal, but then Nancy didn't answer any of her attempts to communicate. Maybe she's not feeling well and sleeping? So she texts Annie and probably says something like "I hope your mom is feeling okay, I didn't hear from her this morning." Annie starts texting/calling and doesn't get an answer so she heads over. This exact scenario has happened in my family (hearing aid was out, no kidnapping) and nothing about it seemed odd to me. Whatever Annie found was so alarming that she called 911 within 6 minutes.

All speculation, of course.

Can someone tell me WHICH Circle K provided the surveillance video? MSM consistently reports it is one on Oracle Road. As a 40+ year Tucson resident I struggled to remember one on Oracle. A quick google maps check did not find one either. There are a few close to Oracle though.
I checked the other day and I believe it’s this one.
2332 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705

I do think AB’s law enforcement contact felt that the SIL may be a prime suspect. And the official saying that to a reporter (AB) knew it would be reported. Hard to fathom the LE officer’s intentions here.

I know an elderly woman who's 87 and she and friends call each other each morning to let the others know they're still alive, so you never know.
How depressing. 😔 But I get your point.

They have searched the house but didnt need search warrants.
If they didn't have a search warrant than anything they found would likely be barred from evidence at trial.

Any evidence or rational argument for your claim that the SIL thing is clickbait? Any evidence that AG nor SIL are involved or that there were no search warrants? What actions have LE taken that "prove" they are not suspects at this time?

That was all your opinion you are posting as fact.

I have looked is there a help F&Q Section with what sites cannot be used?
You can use the search function—type in “Fox News”, looking “everywhere”, then filter to posts from @tricia. However, Fox News is now allowed for this thread!

The more I think about it, I think the ransom requests are from a third party who has nothing to do with the murder or kidnapping.

If you kidnapped some old lady and wanted money you would move the earth to prove to the family that you had the person. You would ask them Secrets only they would know, there would be dozens of things I could think of. Not the location of an Apple watch or some BS broken floodlight. If anything maybe some law enforcement person leaked that location and someone used it to craft the ransom. In the digital age all he would need is a way to cloak his internet location and a bitcoin wallet.

I believe its this one Google Maps

Based on local news reporters being on scene and appearing to report from the Grant Rd side by the dumpsters

Have you seen the video where the store clerk is showing the footage of Agents (or officers) at CK to a female reporter ??

In the circumstances, surely TC would've been publicly cleared if there wasn't even a tiny suspicion ???
It's inconsistent. I've seen police do that, and I've seen them not do that (they publicly cleared several people who had been accused on social media in the Idaho4 case. My sense here is they probably would, just because of the media attention and the impact of what AB put out.

But I've also followed cases where they haven't done that, when in retrospect they should have.

So them not doing that is not a definite sign of anything.

In the ones I have attended online basically you have a camera showing the service and then possibly a chat underneath but that is in Ireland and England. I guess it could be different in America.

From here on out I'm never giving another hypothesis without a "confirmed" fact.

No, the FBI does not automatically investigate a case just because they are asked to
. The FBI only has the authority to open an investigation if there is a potential violation of federal law and the case meets certain internal criteria.

Just because in the end there’s not a federal prosecution doesn’t mean there wasn’t a strong indication of POTENTIAL violation of federal law initially.
And POTUS stated early on that he was making All Federal LE available in this case. Trump says he's "deploying all resources" to get Savannah Guthrie's mom Nancy home

Yes, if seniors and elderly live alone, they often have buddy groups who check in with them every day. Our city has a program for seniors or elderly people who live alone and want to be on a list for a daily check-in call if they have no other people checking on them. It's a program provided with funds from the state of Ohio. But lots of people have relatives, church buddies, neighbors, or others to check in with them.

edited to add: for seniors or elderly who live alone

I don’t understand why the FBI is involved. They think this is an interstate or national level case because it is the mother of a TV host? It seems like if this is going to drag on for months, they have to justify why federal taxpayers have to pay for this long investigation when so many benefits have been cut for the common man. They should probably trust local LE to take it from here. MOO
