The same could be applied to her hearing aid. Assuming she wore it during the day and took it out at night, a NY Times article said they were in her home. Would indicate she did make it home and was in bed.

I believe this is the article but it's behind a paywall. If you search 'hearing aid nancy guthrie NY Times, you can see it's mentioned it was found in the home. (no idea if it is true and AFAIK, it's the first mention of it)

Thank you for this. 7 Days, No Suspects: The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie "Guthrie's family rushed to her home, the authorities said. They found her phone, wallet, hearing aid, daily medication and car. "

This entire investigation needs to be retooled fast.
Everything that was done for the last week was half-@SS because nobody, Pima sheriff, FBI, family knew exactly what kinda crime they were looking at, so there was no focus on anything.

I remember being similarly frustrated (and admonished!) in the Idaho 4 case, and then BAM! an arrest. Lots of folks (like me!) went from "clearly LE botched all of this!" to "Dang these folks are good!". Needless to say, I try to give LE (and myself) a lot more grace nowadays.

Re DJT comment. I’m just guessing, this was during the time, discussions were pay or don’t pay ransom. He may have asked FBI to pay( at least a small amount to keep convo going), or full amount if FBI thought it was a valid ransom note, at that time. FBI eventually determined, ransom was a hoax.
DJT would have loved to have brought back NG alive, as all would. I took his comment with a grain of salt.

He has offered. all help possible and wants a great outcome. Unfortunately based on DJT track record it is often more for the victory laps he takes afterward.

the story is now NG and friends meet to watch a NY based service. They meet at friend's home. So this is evolving. Not sure what the truth is.
missed this development, can you point me to a link or give me an idea where in the thread this info is linked so I can check it out? Only one I can find is Fox news or outlets quoting Fox news as their source. Fox news digital is not allowed via TOS. TIA

Welcome to the conversation. I myself do not believe AG and SIL are perpetrators or involved. However, there must be a motive for what happened and it's probably financial.

Some will point out that there is apparently a great financial disparity within the 'G' family. AG and SIL are also saddled with day-to-day responsibility of keeping an eye on NG. The other siblings live thousands of miles away. Over time, in theory, resentment can build. A resentful person may think it would be nice to get a slice of NG's estate sooner rather than later.

For myself, I think if AG and SIL were involved this case would have been resolved by now.
We moved beside my husband grandparents and the only close relative in town. I never felt it was a burden. We had many great times together and our daughter loved them dearly. They were active, until the last few years. I loved them.

I’ve not seen any reference they were in financial straits. She’s a poet and he’s a science teacher at an exclusive school. Maybe they are very happy with their finances.

The difference is the Idaho 4 were already murdered. This was/is a kidnapping case and much more urgent.

I don’t think I expressed myself very well concerning LE. Thanks for pointing it out.
I have no doubt LE was working hard the last week, but I think they were being pulled in too many directions, and could not focus on things because of the kidnapping think.

Just a thought, but sometimes things that sparkle like glass, diamonds etc, might show up better in the dark when a sudden light source hits, speculation, imo.
I’m in a dark sky area of CA, and if there is a LE investigation, rescue of a stranded hiker with helicopter, I see bright lights used at night.
Even if someone has a party at night, It’s ok to use bright lights outside at night. I think the cut off is 10 pm, they go later sometimes😉
So JMO, surely if there is an emergency, Lights would be allowed.

Very possible some might. When you interview a friend circle or distant family members you get a lot of hearsay, but information that might peak your interest.

Say they interviewed a few friends and they reluctantly disclosed that AG hated her mothers guts or has been arguing lately, and her husband is very controlling and she'd do anything he said. Well, there's no smoking gun there but it would certainly give you an inclination on how to proceed.

But people are reluctant to disclose such things, and sometimes they divulge when pushed but qualify it with "but I don't think she'd ever hurt her...." etc. Some people are more guarded and don't have a huge friend/family circle -- it is something we haven't really heard much of and as an investigator I'd really want to know.

I would imagine they did personal interviews, maybe even some financial forensics, phone records of the family members, but again you have to tread lightly in this victim/potential suspect balance.
Yes this makes sense. I was looking at this from public statement point of view. No one is posting on social media that they know AG would never hurt anyone. No media outlet has had some neighbor on saying they always saw NG, AG, and SIL having a great time together.

This is one of the most media covered cases I've seen in a while and yet zero interviews by the media. Nancy Grace would have had half the world on by now making character statements. I haven't even seen a viral Facebook screenshot yet of anyone giving their opinion who knows them or even lives near them.

I’m leaning to the theory that the kidnap for ransom is bogus. Some individual who is a rather sophisticated cyber expert saw an opportunity to get some money but now can’t produce “proof”of having Nancy (alive or dead) and the effort has stalled. How did this start? Nancy answered the doorbell in the early hours and either personally knew the person and felt comfortable allowing them to enter or it was a person that presented as a law enforcement official who had a plausible story that led Nancy to let them inside (report of break-in and we need to clear the house; delivering a message concerning family emergency, etc.). Once inside they immobilized Nancy in some way (tied up, knocked her out, etc.) and spent some time inside searching for valuables - jewelry, cash, etc. Has it ever been reported that any items were missing from the home? Perhaps Nancy had a medical emergency during this time and died. Seems the perp/s would have just left her there and made their escape if this was the case. Or, they perhaps thought they could not leave her there alive if they believed she could identify them and forced her to go with them, murdered her and dumped the body somewhere in the desert. The perp, I would guess, is either a family member, a friend of a family member, an employee who came to the home on a regular basis or a friend of same, a maintenance worker who had done work at the house recently or friend of a worker. Perhaps the employed workers just talked too much about valuable things in the house, Nancy’s wealth, etc and the people listening just took that info and ran with it.

I was watching a live stream outside the home last night until it got dark. It is a channel not approved here but I find it interesting. Guy puts in long hours so as to not miss anything "popping". There was a homeowner that came out and started yelling at media to get off their property. Got me to thinking. If you saw the cars parked on side of road and camera equipment and so many standing around on your r quiet street I would think it would be very unnerving. Some are operating noisy drones over people's homes...many with bright lights doing news reports etc. I have. to think that there should be a curfew on that street as well as AG street so these people can get some peace. Some crews are there all night. One guy mentioned should get food trucks out there. They are getting door dash deliveries. I bet neighbors will be asking for some limits as this could go on for some time.
Unless they are private roads, we have the right to peacefully assemble.

And you've got to have respect for LE when they are getting criticized constantly for lack of progress.. but we have no earthly idea how much information they already have but they are exercising great caution in divulging anything that would alert the perpetrator(s) to change their behavior because LE is onto them.

With this large team they have to have something... or they can maybe at least totally rule out certain people.. But they won't go public with that for obvious reasons.

I "feel" like we are going to get an arrest or POI this week.

(snipped)

A recent interview with a former FBI agent who visited the scene pointed out how struck he was about how dark the neighborhood is due to Tucson's low light ordinances. He said it was a security nightmare, but people live in the illusion of a "good neighborhood" (which is what my friends still on the job call a neighborhood "where the bad guys shop")

The problem with the darkness mentioned in the article is that Nancy was taken when the moon was 1 day from being full, so the desert would have been light enough for someone familiar with the area to easily navigate without a flashlight - moving like a shadow. NOW, last night, in a different moon phase, of course, it's dark. The night of the event however, was a bright night unless weather and clouds made it otherwise.

IF family is not involved, and I'm thinking they're not, and having seen the statistics suggesting a youth from the neighborhood, I'm leaning toward a neighbor or former neighbor who grew up playing in the surrounding area.

I also lean toward a former neighbor, based on the trespasser seen earlier, as he would have needed to check out the planned route to see if fences or other landscaping had changed the route since he'd last been there.

I've been reviewing some of the crime scene footage and taking screenshots.

Not seeing any signs of forced entry on the doors or side gate, although it's true the Sheriff never confirmed there was forced entry.

I think NG's lastest message was to the ransom-note writer to let him know they don't believe him and are moving on. He will not have a payday.

Yes and when I mentioned that yesterday, I was made fun of. I said yard worker. Regardless of their title, they would know an elderly wealthy woman lived alone and may have known she was related to a top news star at NBC. I mentioned maybe that person owed a cartel and received rude responses. As many years as I have been a member here, I am still amazed at how hateful others can be.
Funny, it’s not so funny today. Glad LE is finally gettting dna from

Yes, I edited my comment to add that since her home was built in 1975, it was always in need of repairs. Big and small!
Whether it was a new construction or built a while ago it needs maintenance to look as neat as it is.

We've seen a plethora of pictures in the property. I have a slightly larger property in the woods of the N.E. and it's constant work.
The low maintenance desert-scape can be deceiving --it needs work (lower maintenance is more accurate). Her house and landscaping looked very neat. There were many things on it, multiple AC units, even a condenser on top of the adjunct house or casita. There's also a lot of ornamentals planted in brick or stone planters around there that look very neat. The pool looks immaculate the lawn is trimmed neatly, the hedges and ornamental bushes are pruned. The recently sealed roofs are as clean as you're going to get.

So there's a lot of components that need attention for that property to look that way if the resident is an 84 year old cardiac compromised person with limited mobility.

Snipped by me.

Maybe someone who knows more about this can help me out. Does this actually reveal that they got DNA from the scene? Or could it just be something they're doing to cover their bases in case DNA shows up somewhere? I'm not convinced that it is as clear-cut as the retired Las Vegas police lieutenant makes it sound, but maybe it is. Are they not allowed to collect DNA samples from people unless they already have something from the crime scene to compare it to?
I don’t think it necessarily means that foreign DNA was found in NG’s home or vehicle or in key places outside the home (such as camera mounts on house or on camera found on roof). It could be strategic: ask those who are known to have worked at the property who will voluntarily give DNA and take a closer look at those who are resistant.

Yes, it was on Fox news. Tricia has made an exception and allowed Fox for this thread. It does appear to be based on one source, but to me it sounds convincing.

Nancy Guthrie was expected at friend’s home, not church on day she vanished: source''
