What?!?!?!
Keystone cops. FBI has to wait for head to make announcements. Trump makes non-understandable comment. Never seen an investigation like this one.

Clip-on light makes sense. They are small and he could also remove it quickly, but when it's clipped to something, you have your hands free.
I think the backpack has 2 built in lights, at the top of each strap. When he turns them off, it looks like he's not wearing a backpack anymore because it blends with clothing on the camera. But if you look closely you can see the tension of the straps still there against clothing.

Wait I think they may be clip on lights on the backpack straps. Not sure if built in.

No way he could shoot a gun with those gloves on.
Absolutely a good point. It would be difficult and cumbersome at best to draw and get a finger in a trigger guard.

He switched from concealed earlier in the frame to a low hanging open appendix carry as he approached, thus brandishing the gun and removing all doubt to anyone watching what his intentions were. That is strange. Even hitman and pros or common burglars would not let the person behind the door --or if someone came upon him outside by chance-- their nefarious intention. You see a guy with a mask, gloves, brandishing you immediately react defensively. So it seems mainly for intimidation.

The whole get up seems thrown together to me. Reflective stripes on a backack, really? Mismatched holster. Bulky nitrile chemical proof style gloves? Pros dress a certain way for a reason. "High speed, low drag." All black is a cliche for a reason.

Sadly there are numerous people who would have observed how vulnerable a target Nancy is. I hate to make it about myself but this is why I’m glad my 35kg German Shepherd is with my elderly father during the day. So many Amazon drivers etc come and go during the day.

My dad also has mobility issues and would no doubt be seen as easy to overpower. But my boy is very protective and his bark is extremely off putting I’m sure.

Seems female and about average height for a woman and 10-15 extra pounds. Good clues with their posture, gait, clothing, backpack, possible glasses, bizarre gun/holster...
It's funny how we all get a different vibe.

My take is that this is a medium height to medium-tall male of medium build. From the first images released it looked at first glance like a larger stocky male. But once I saw the second video that was released I saw someone with a long, confident stride up the porch step. And the movement made it look like a couple of clothing layers rather than body fat or muscle.

The awkward step down and awkward left-ward lean to pull out the flowers in the first video released (but later in actual time) seemed due to the gun holster now positioned to the front, impinging on bending that hip (and no doubt not wanting to accidently causing it to fire!)

The "moustache" looks fake to me, as an additional disguise.

The video and photos are truly alarming. Prayers for the family and for Nancy Guthrie especially. The eyes jump out in the photos. Wonder if they can use eye detection technology similar to airport technology to get any handle on this scary individual.

Doorbell cam disconnects at 1:47am. NG's phone (found in the house) disconnects from her pacemaker at 2:28am. What happened in the house for 40 minutes? Doesn't take that long to subdue an elderly person and leave with them. Was he looking for something?
ETA: someone pointed out that he might not have entered at 1:47am (when the door cam was disabled). May have gained entry later.

Ding ding ding! This happened the very next morning after the last ransom deadline passed.
I thought they only just got the photos and have released them straight away?

To be fair, I could know that person and I would never have recognized them. That whole mask obscures too many features.
Agreed. Perhaps someone might recognize them a bit by build and the way they move?

Posting link to original FBI video.

My thoughts/observations. Perp walks up to door, no visible gun--turns around to what would then be the left (if your standing in the doorway looking out). Has an awkward bend, where the right hand is not visible, then proceeds back to where the flowers are and reemerges with the gun showing.

My question is, when he/she did that awkward bend, were they pulling the gun out from under the jacket?
Rewatch that video, the gun is there the entire time.

Maybe this guy used the threat of the gun to get NG out of the house and then onto the front steps, waiting for the getaway car to pull up the blood fell (perhaps there was a scuffle inside at some point)?

I'm a bit hung up on the fact that he tried to get in the front door when it looks like there are multiple other possible entry points to the house that would be less likely to have a camera...

EDIT: On the NBC coverage, an ex investigator said the guy could have camped in the area and walked in at night, then waited for a vehicle to come
Camping out? As in nearby? I visited my aunt many time in the desert area of Tucson and every night around 4am would be awakened by coyotes howling. Also she told me about the javelinas that often walked around the streets. Not to mention rattle snakes etc. Braver person ( or more naïve) than I’d be to sleep out under the stars there. JMO.

Maybe something like this
Who would have thought?
They think of everything these days.

I have those elastic headlamps, but wear them on my wrist when I'm in my yard or walking. You can wear them around your neck too. Never thought of sticking a flashlight in my mouth, but who knew?

True...actually makes sense there would be radio communication
Had to be some kind of communication for driver to show up and move fast

I don't think it looks like a woman. They very clearly seem male imo, especially in the videos of them walking up.

So freaking creepy. It could be *anyone* that was aware of Nancy. I hope people are watching the news and someone recognizes him. 😞

The pacemaker may have moved far enough away from the phone at that time, meaning she was not in the house for those 40 minutes?

This mask has a Clip on light under the bottom lip, I just can't get a good visual. I don't know of any ski-masks with that attachment
omg i have been googling!!!!! I can't seem to find anything, I think what others are seeing as a moustache is part of that as well

It's hard to tell, but on the video it looks like he enters the portico from the left. So the vehicle is probably on the left out of camera view. Also, on the video, you can clearly see him turn off the flashlight in his mouth as he approaches. Most likely with his teeth since his hands were at his side.
That's a good observation. It's strange to deftly operate a light with one's mouth.

I'd be drooling all over the place. hopefully, they find some saliva.

Here is do not see eyebrows at all. It looks like the shadow from the top of the mask eyehole.
A mask will distort the face if it has any tightness to it
