He never left the scene, charges were never filed, a warrant was never sought for his arrest that we know of. He was not arrested. He was detained.

He answered questions, so we know he participated in a custodial interview. No way did they not mirandize him if they believed he was potentially involved. If they provided him advice of rights, he then necessarily waived them to participate in the interview. He could have requested to stop talking without an attorney at any point. Catch is, they’d just have to stop talking to him. He’d still be detained on scene until the search was done.

JMO
He was detained for two hours without anyone reading his rights. This happens all the time. He likely spent the entire two hours protesting his innocence without even thinking of asking for a lawyer. That makes him look even more innocent in my eyes.

IF AG has a ring/nest camera it would probably show their car leaving the area OR one of the neighbor's ring camera would show AG car going down the street to return NG to her home. JMO
I agree. The story has changed so many times that it’s hard to know what’s accurate anymore. I read that the SIL dropped her off, but I haven’t seen anything confirming that with camera footage. Was there ever any verification? I don’t recall reading that it was confirmed she was physically brought home, and that seems like a pretty critical detail.

Right... and I would imagine it would leave a notification on the phone or in the app that it is out of range or it lost connection.

The wording in the timeline is a good clue that this is what LE saw IMO

Pacemaker APP shows DISCONNECT from phone.

Can anyone explain what the camera disconnect at 1:47 is?

Is 2:12 the person on video that was retrieved? If so, it seems like 2:28 for the pacemaker to disconnect from the phone is fast. Just 16 minutes to remove her from the home.

When they said this guy had been detained for questioning in this case and wasn't necessarily a suspect, I knew this lead might not pan out.

Good news is that they have the video and images which should lead to a lot of tips.

This case is very….strange. IMO. Everytime I see a “breaking development” that ends up not being the case; I feel like it’s giving “hoax” vibes. I don’t think it’s a hoax but that’s what it’s giving me at the moment. AMO

No! The MEDIA made such a show of this dentention. Imo. The police didn’t interview the mil in the street and report the guy’s name. the police should not have media following their every step and interfering.
They are doing their job investigating whatever leads they have. This is frustrating but it’s the media that are increasing the fury here imo.
I understand the media does what the media does, and it isn't always responsible however this is nothing new and imo LE (federal and local) at this point appears to me to not be managing this well. This guy in the video imo does not seem that astute and yet..here we are. This is JMO but at this point if I had means like SG I'd be trying to see who I could hire (she may have reach to some of the experienced top level FBI agents were let go more recently perhaps one of them could provide services and would have an in with an agent who is still there with info)...Again jmo and I understand that there is info we also don't have at this point, but based on what I see it isn't confidence inspiring.

I’ve seen all sorts of nonsense on social media stating that it’s a “Mexican man” (which could be right or wrong) but IMO you can’t even tell if the person is male or female even, so how can you tell nationality through a mask?
Facial recognition software can make certain determinations using measurements of facial features then compare to a database of measurements then make a probability of the nationality even through a mask. Software can be trained to analyze facial features to estimate age, gender, and ethnic background. These are not absolute identifications but rather statistical probabilities based on datasets.

I wonder if police were tracking their detained person of interest's car for a while now, but stopped him today because he was headed toward border to flee to Mexico....
I gather if he his wife and kids weren't delivering Door Dash then when his car was seized LE would have found evidence that he was fleeing and not a customer's groceries.
The car was returned to the family.
imo

The person who was detained (now released) and the person on the CCTV look nothing alike imo.

The eyes have a slight similarity - but I am sure the person on the CCTV is white and has a fuller build than the person who was detained.

I do hope the person detained gets the support they need obviously it’ll be a huge shock to them to be plastered all over the media
The person in the video was bundled up in layers. That could make someone look bulkier than they really are. Also, many Hispanics have lighter skin tone so I don’t think we can say the person in the video was definitely Caucasian. Not saying it was this person they detained and released but the person in the video is not necessarily bulky or white. MOO

El Paso airport announced closed for 10 days last night for national security concern. All flights canceled. Now reopened this morning. Has to be related! MOO
I don't think it's related at all. There is another big national and controversial issue involving flights to El Paso that has nothing to do with a celebrity's mom.

My Opinion

Then again, the media presence makes it harder for police to abuse POI in vulnerable communities, or to arrest a scapegoat just to make it seem as though they’re achieving something.

It’s not the media’s fault that this case hasn’t been solved.

I noticed the "bulk" too. And I can't stop thinking the eyes are a woman's.

Yes, at this point Media is interfering. FBI didn't release the name of the person detained. The mother-in-law did after being asked by media during the interview at her house.

They are not mutually exclusive. Both the media and LE complicating the case IMO.

Looks like the websleuths servers are getting to finally take a deep breath this morning. Much like the rest of us 🤣

I think many posters will be over tired after yesterday's adrenaline filled news reports particularly with the hope Nancy would be found alive. Today everything is an anticlimax and people are tired and irritable and more likely to be finding fault with the investigation and news reporters.

Does anyone think we might see anymore police searches in the same area as yesterday or in other locations?

surely the threshold for signing off for an arrest warrant is quite high. You can’t just legally detain someone without something quite compelling. Or so I thought. Poor bloke has been catapulted into this media storm.

This guys eyes look nothing like the pictures, different eyebrows and everything. Feel bad for him.
I feel bad for him, too. He’ll be surrounded by suspicion until it’s resolved, and so will his wife and children

I don’t find it strange at all. She’s an independent woman, not a child or an invalid who needs supervision.

“Ten minutes away” is 20 min round trip for someone picking her up, plus time to stop what one is doing, get ready, etc. and perhaps she was just being considerate of their time.

We don’t know what other tasks and responsibilities AG and TC have on weekends - maybe a child’s activities, errands, DIY - and even a lost 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon can eat into a working person’s precious weekend. Why NOT take a quick Uber instead?
It may have been at NG’s insistence; we don’t know
