In that case - a boat? Are there any canals or rivers in the area?
Good thinking, the Arizona desert is well known for its complex network of canals, rivers, lakes and retention ponds.

If we're talking about this hourglass (seen it mentioned before in the thread) - It's called a bartack and is very common.

If not, sorry and carry on lol
Yes sorry didn't see it. So many posts

Does anyone know how far a pacemaker has to be from a phone before it disconnects?

One thing that trips me up is the 1:47 to 2:28 time frame. That's an awful long time for kidnappers to remain in the house. Especially if the place wasn't ransacked or showing signs of robbery. What were they doing that whole time? I can't imagine it would take long to subdue a frail, elderly woman and squirrel her out of there?

I’m not sure the tip thing was actually true. It’s just a way to get around explaining the evidence used in your probably sealed search warrant so that it doesn’t leak out when she inevitably goes and talks to half a dozen media outlets.

JMO
Are you suggesting they might have claimed exigency due to a tip, just to keep from showing a sealed warrant to the homeowner? They have to claim in a search warrant what they are looking for. Let's say they find do that and find something critical not covered by the warrant? Any defense attorney who takes that case could get that evidence thrown out pretty easily. And possibly charges dismissed.

Great line of thought, here.

This photo shows the porch a little bit closer up.

About 4-5 tile rows down from the front wall and 5 tiles over, there might be some slight shoe prints, but it's hard (for me) to tell.

I'd expect there to be more smearing and footprints considering the amount of blood and the chaos of an abduction. If it was a straight march to a vehicle, I'd expect a more linear pattern. Was NG struck just outside the door, or was she delayed here for some reason before moving/being moved toward the road?

Carrying someone over your shoulder is really hard to do, though obviously not impossible. The masked man doesn't seem particularly big or strong, so I have my doubts he'd be able to do that. Now, with a partner - one holding the legs and the other the feet - it would seem more doable to me.
Fireman carry. I was trained to do that carry in the military and was able to transport men as heavy as me that way. If NG was carried out the front door this way the blood would indeed drip behind the person doing the carrying. IMO

When you find the exact jacket, what will you do with that information? Why is it important for us to know? What can WE do with that information on this website to advance the case? LE yes. Then they can try to find purchases and receipts etc. I am confident they are already running this down. JMO
Agreed, but this forum has been used by LE before and they may be monitoring it now. So, if some small detail a WS'er finds helps to bring NG home safely to her family then I'm all in. ...and absolutely someone will call it into LE.

I’m not American and have not studied your geography, so I’m not sure how I was supposed to know this.

RE: the jacket and backpack.

The jacket looks fleece to me, and very generic. It's not screaming LL Bean or Carhartt or Nike. It looks like something generic off a Walmart rack or even a Dollar General (some stores have clothing) or an off-brand from a sporting goods store.

Getting the same vibe from the backpack, very generic. Probably on purpose. moo

Anyone have the photo or video of the perp without gun showing and no backpack on? Did they release just the still pic or was there a video along with it?
Photo on FBI website, no video without backpack released

There are so many possibilities here that every scenario has a pretty low probability of being right.

I get the impression this was targeted, as this guy came prepared. His actions with the doorbell camera don't indicate to me that he was overly familiar with that house.

It's almost as if he was told about it.

The ransom thing really throws this off. It doesn't appear that the FBI was buying it because that money was apparently not paid.

The demand occurred late in the proceedings, it was done bizarrely (reaching out to news outlets), and contained absolutely no proof of life. It looks to me like an afterthought, perhaps by an opportunist, or someone trying to mislead the investigation.
Did the guy come prepared to rob, abduct, or murder? Did Nancy ever sleep elsewhere, like at her daughter’s? Could the masked man think he was breaking into an empty home? Did he really intend to remove Nancy, or did things go sideways? Could he possibly have done this solo?

Thank you for this. That website seems to be UK-based, or at least uses words like "colour" and "stockist."

As for "what can WE do with this" thinking...huh? This is Websleuths, lol. Did you make a wrong turn?

Knowing where a jacket is from can provide critical information. Look at any true-crime hobbyist website or forum. This kind of analysis just might be useful.

Just thinking back to reports at the very beginning of this case. Homicide detectives were called in almost immediately and the sheriff did call the home a crime scene. (Granted, a kidnapping could also be called a crime scene, but it sounded like more. And I suppose the blood could have made them think that, but still.) They have never said what the inside of the house showed.

The very first TMZ article on this on February 2:
Per this article, the Pima County Sheriff's Office noted on their briefing today that, "disturbing or concerning circumstances were found at the home, prompting homicide detectives to assist in the investigation."

And:
The motive remains a mystery. Investigators do not believe at this point that the abduction was part of a robbery, home invasion or kidnapping-for-ransom plot, the person said.

Searchers used drones and search dogs and were supported by volunteers and Border Patrol. The homicide team was also involved, Nanos said Sunday. The FBI has offered to help, sheriff's department spokesperson Angelica Carrillo said.

On Monday morning, Nanos said search crews had been pulled back.

"We don't see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene," the sheriff said.

Granted things have evolved regarding the no search, no kidnaping for ransom, etc., but he did call the home a crime scene. And they had no video at that time.

Yes, the posters in this thread would be sure to have a treasure trove of excellent information to help:
  • She never made it back to the house
  • The SIL or one of his evil band members done it
  • She's hidden somewhere inside her own house
  • She's buried somewhere under her own yard
  • The perp took her away in her wheelchair
  • The perp took her away in her wheelbarrow
  • But what about her dog? Did they find her dog?
IMHO, you need to add:
  • The perp rolled her down the street in her wheelie bin
  • The perp took her away in a UFO
    Just trying to help :)

Exactly. So weird.
Looking like he was coming from the yard ... not straight up the walkway.. wasn't there a roof camera on the front?

Which part is supposed to be misleading?
Things stated as fact need to be supported by approved sources in WS forums. These are the rules, which are easily a accessible via link at the bottom of your screen. What people are saying is that you have posted quite a few things that read as if they are givens in this case without a link to a source to back up your statements. Long term posters/ followers here are pointing out that many of your 'as if fact' statements are not supported by the actual known facts of this case per approved sources. Jmo

If you look at the straps on the backpack there is a distinctive hourglass stitching on strap that I don't see on this jmo
Which pack - the X tacking on the straps is present on both.

Really?

The answer to your first question is: LE often follows WS threads and, yes, in the past some WS'ers have passed info on to LE.

The answer to your second question is: somebody on this thread might recognize the exact jacket once it's identified and might know a friend or relative who has that exact jacket.

The answer to your third question is: see the answers to your first two questions

If you are confident they are already "running this down" and also know what type of jacket and pack and holster and gloves and mask and - even who the perp is - for what reason do you think LE released the photos and asked: do you know who this person might be?

I applaud @Mica's search effort and think that jacket is as close as any I've seen

Jmo

These people were thinking outside of the box and only trying to help.

You have already been quite rude in this thread, please refrain.
