AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

If it's real, we can definitely say the person demanding $$ has no morals. An 84 yr old woman, and they want money to rescue her? What has become of ethics?
Real as in they know the kidnapper? Well, in that case, the right thing to do would be to contact FBI quietly, get the perp arrested and collect the money. Given that they are not doing that, they are obviously an accomplice or the main kidnapper. Assuming this is not a scammer looking to make a quick buck.

Next press release:
We would really appreciate it if the perpetrator would just turn themselves in. It would really help us out.

That is institutional failure.
I think this is a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. Individual agents are being sent from around the country-they are far from their organizations chain of command. So when they arrived in Tucson they probably were a little bit lost as to who they report to. I think this is more so what's meant by this statement.
There are so many groups working on individual leads and probably report to some middle manager that they don't know directly who their information is going to.

Not necessarily that nobody knows what's happening.

I’ve seen some strange and messy cases before but this one has to be right up there..

It just seems a complete mess from the outset - mistake after mistake from law enforcement

How the hell do you return the house to the family over a week ago - only for today decide the porch needs a white tent around it

No direct sources on why they think these items are the brand listed, but grabbed larger images for anyone that wants them.

They think the jacket is 2XU brand, the gun holster Uncle Mike's, the nitrite gloves Hyper Tough, and the backpack Ozark Trail. I know there's been some chatter about Ozark Trail. All four of the items I just listed appear to be sold at Walmart. They think the ski mask is Rothco, which they've found online.
I don't want to have to delete but please we need you to link back to your source.

A person who values money over morals. They walk among us.

Family needs to hire a PI. It's past time.
Problem with that is.

They wouldn’t be privy to any critical information that’s already been obtained.

They certainly are within their right to do it and i wouldn’t be surprised if they are frustrated.

But i don’t believe it would be of much help in a case like this.

I haven't heard that the family has hired any attorneys.

It would probably be a smart move to do that right about now, even if innocent.

I hadn't heard of The Daily Mail UK but I just Googled. Results indicate that it's an unreliable source and tabloid-like, so I wouldn't put much stock in that they're "reporting".
