is 5+ miles away considered the same neighborhood?
No. As a local, I would say they are very different neighborhoods and type of neighborhoods.

But would he know the camera was active just by looking at it?

Maybe he knew the subscription was inactive, but somehow the camera alerted him that it was on? A shutter click? I wonder if there is any way for a person to notice that the camera is activated.

Or maybe someone said "there won't be any cameras," a poor translation of, "the camera subscription isn't active." And so just the mere sight of the camera threw him off.
It was reported earlier that there is often a light that comes on when motion is detected, probably so anyone in the dark could find the doorbell to ring.

What's crazy is that the neighbor who apparently sent neighbors a message asking them to send any video captured from January 31 - February 1 actually had the correct evidence link, that clearly showed the url domain was for the sheriff's department! What a mess!

Tweet with the neighbor's letter that was NOT from Pima County, but DID include the correct url to submit video - before Pima County got around to asking!
Meanwhile, Pima County Sheriff later tweets out a link, advising people to be careful to confirm who links are sent from. And includes a link to submit evidence, but it's just a scrambled letter url link, which was non-working (that was on a post which has since been deleted) for 50 minutes. Also, ironically the sheriff department's X account still does NOT have a blue checkmark, at least not on X! (It probably does on the Neighbors App).

Pima County Sheriff's Department
@PimaSheriff

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department periodically uses the Neighbors App to contact residents with home surveillance cameras. Requests will come from “Pima County Sheriff’s Department” with a blue checkmark. Please verify legitimate posts before sharing.

@PimaSheriff Investigators are requesting any video showing vehicles, traffic, pedestrians, or suspicious activity
from Jan. 1-Feb. 2, 2026, near E. Skyline Dr. & N. Campbell Ave. (2-mile radius). Submit footage: bit.ly/

5 miles in 19 minutes, he'd have to be going what at least 100-200 mph.
Um... 60 miles an hour=60 miles in 60 minutes. I'm not a math whiz but, if I'm not mistaken, driving 40mph, you would cover .6 miles per minute so you could cover 5 miles in under10 minutes.

Do we have proof that Nancy wears hearing aids? I had to skip a ton of pages but haven’t seen anything that says she wears them.

I had similar thoughts about a worker she may have accused of fraud or theft.... someone who wanted her silenced.
Did she have "friends," "acquaintances" that her family knew nothing about. Maybe she shared info or gave $$$ to family unknowns. Older people seem very vulnerable to scams. Maybe someone took her per your reasoning.

Why isn't the family offering their own reward? I get that law enforcement doesn't want to be flooded with bogus tips, but 50-100k really isn't that much money for someone to snitch. I'd want serious, "get out of town" money if I was going to report a dangerous criminal.

I said that because I thought I read the video released today (with the man with 2 backpacks) was filmed 5 miles south of Nancy's house, which is the opposite of Nancy's neighborhood. Maybe I got that wrong...
someone carrying backpacks 5 miles south isn't...IMO...going to mean much. rich or poor, people carry them here

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Perp has info that the camera is inactive, but sees the light and gets worried that it's still on. Wants to knock on door, but camera will let NG see him and ruin his ambush. Improvises with flowers to temporary block camera so NG can't see him; NG opens the door blind to the danger.

Wow! They probably increased the reward now that they at least have some more slightly specific information. I wonder if the tent today was more photos + using brick count and other means to determine the suspect's height. I think someone mentioned on here, they may have even used a person and had a camera staged to re-enact what was captured on video so that they could compare height and size against what was shown on video.

Quoting myself: “When I think foot of the bed I think a bench. How many people have a dresser 3 or more feet away from the foot of the bed”?

How many women who wear Apple Watches charge the watch on the dresser near other jewelry? Nightstand top is cramped up with lamp, cellphone, landline, book, glass of water etc.. Foot of the bed is odd to me because I can’t see anyone using a bench to charge electronics? What else could be at the foot of the bed beside a dresser? If it was a dresser where NG charged her phone why say foot of the bed?

Taking ransom out of the equation (using only what we know) the perpetrator (s) benefit is unknown. What did they get out of this? It seems deeply personal but the masked perp throws me off unless he's hired.

It would be nice if there were cameras, but probably not at a smaller shop.
Goodwill in my area is very large, I’m pretty sure they would have cameras, would not save images for long.

As others mentioned above, cash purchase.

I doubt Goodwill “ inventories” like Walmart, Amazon etc. They attach a tag, same price, for instance, all tank tops, whole row of them.

I think Thrift would make the most sense( for the Perp, if smart), but some think Walmart was the perps store for some items. He could have still used cash if he physically walked into Walmart.

I think that she didn't survive the first day of the kidnapping. And I also think that it would have to be the work of at least three people. The 2 kidnappers, the driver, and maybe an informant who knew the house or was there. I also think that they probably have a video of him or them taking Nancy out of the house. But it's too sensitive to make public.

I don’t like that it says:

“information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”

Most rewards I see offered say “safe recovery” or something to that effect. Something that indicates the reward is for an alive person.

Investigators took the tent down after about an hour and drove away in unmarked vehicles with a large pelican case labeled "video forensics." They also carried what appeared to be a laser measuring device.

I have a friend who works psych ED and she has had two patients tear their pacemaker out. She said it wasn’t as bloody as she expected, but it’s still a mess. One guy walked up and handed it to her. I don’t think that’s what happened to NG, but it’s not impossible.

QUOTE: "I think they removed her pacemaker and disposed of it" <<< considering that would be a 1 to 6 hour surgery depending on the individual patient's circumstance, I doubt that was the case...just saying 🤷‍♀️ 😇
