Sheriff Nanos said there were multiple cameras.
In the official timeline they specifically said "doorbell" camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m.
Yeah, sorry, I should have been more precise about the point I was trying to make.
Earlier, in response to
@MassGuy, I said it was unlikely that there is any video from the doorbell camera after the 1:47 AM "disconnect" event on the timeline. I was assuming that the disconnect correlated with the doorbell camera being removed from the mount and disabled or taken out of range, and that after that, it was gone for good. If the newly-revealed timestamps on these images are correct, then I was obviously wrong about that. The doorbell was apparently still on the wall well after 1:47, and was able to upload video during that time.
Given this new information, if it proves true, there are a few scenarios I can think of, some more likely than others.
- The doorbell camera did disconnect at 1:47, but for a reason unrelated to being removed from the wall. Maybe a wifi jammer or other RF or internet disruption, maybe just random coincidence. At some point after that, it re-connected to the network so that it could upload the images we have seen of the unknown subject. This re-connection could have happened before, during, or after the subject was on the porch. At some point after that, it was physically removed (which we know because we've seen the now-removed empty bracket on the door).
- The doorbell camera did not disconnect at 1:47, and this was an error on the official timeline. Maybe there were multiple Nest cameras, a different one disconnected, and the notifications were confusing. Or the time was written down wrong. Or the clock was incorrect on whatever device investigators saw the disconnection notification on (assuming a notification is how they knew the camera disconnected; it's possible they got this information via other means).
- There were multiple "doorbell" cameras, one disconnected at 1:47 and one stayed connected, to capture the images of the subject.
- The time stamps on the images of the subject are wrong, and those were actually captured before 1:47.
If I had to guess (we see how well this has gone for me so far), I would say it's the first option. But who knows.
I'm sure there are more possibilities, and this is all
just my opinion based on the scant information we have. But the most likely scenarios suggest that
I was wrong in my prior post, and I apologize for that.
