Wait! Hold up, instead of allowing FBI to utilize Quantico. This local sheriff wants to send evidence to a private lab in Florida. I’m so dumbfounded by this Sheriff.

I hope Locals remember this when they hit polling locations
This could be happening or they could be going into blame mode now b/c they aren't doing such a great job either imo...I don't know what is true but it sure seems odd to be saying leaking things like this.

So I just did a google explore search. I did custom dates from 1/1/25 until 1/30/26. The only time her home was searched for was on January 18th, and it was searched 29 times. I am hoping that they were able to find out from where and maybe that is pushing the dates.
Could you share what search term you used for the query? I'm curious now

edited to add - I found it. Screenshot attached, and here is a link to source: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=2026-01-01 2026-01-30&q=nancy guthrie house&hl=en-us

This is outrageous. OUTRAGEOUS.
Who does this Nanos think he is?

The FBI can't bring whatever's happened to light when they're being kept in the dark themselves.

Appalling behavior by Nanos. Unprofessional. Petty. Reckless.
Feel free to insert your own pejoratives.
I'm too speechless to come up with any more.

There. Are. No. Words.

*ETA: I lied. There is one word. RECALL.

JMO.

Can you say more about (1) whom you believe had (2) what to gain from her murder?

Thank you.
Just an idea.

I think NG was taken, and is gone, because the perp thought she might turn him in, for some criminal activity.

She saw something, perp thought less risk to his freedom, if she was gone.

I don’t know what it could be? I thought of drugs in a workers trunk at her house, she saw, maybe even said something to perp, he assured her it wasn’t drugs. Just brainstorming.

I’m not committed to any one theory, of course. All JMO

This is the kinda thing conspiracy theories are made of!

I thought FBI trumps the county sheriff?! I really would like to know why this would be helpful to not release everything they have at this point. They dropped the ball!
No, they are suppose to work together.

But who benefits from a missing person? No inheritance for 5 years when she might be presumed dead.
Exactly this. I don't understand those who think someone in her family would do it for money. Missing is going to delay settling the estate for years when making it look like an accident would be so much simpler.

I will admit none of this makes sense to me. Nothing about her life that's been made public even hints at anything that would put her at risk for this.

Personally I think the biggest deal is that obviously there is friction between local and federal and by this being out there it’s obvious that the local sheriff is holding things up and frustrating the smartest ppl in the room. jmo

Maybe i wasn’t far off when i suggested the tape measure 🤷‍♂️
eh it's probably big egos on both sides being obnoxious and not looking at the bigger picture.

I have held off on commenting on this sheriff for a number of reasons, mostly being that this case is pretty unprecedented and I can’t imagine being in his position. However, after everything that has happened in this investigation, I have to wonder if he is either just unbelievably in over his head or if he’s purposefully messing this up. In a situation like this, I think any decent sheriff wanting to solve the case would take guidance from FBI (like in the idaho 4 case.) To not only ignore their input but to purposefully go against it is at best a little weird and at worst corruption. JMO.

WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (Reuters) - An Arizona sheriff is blocking FBI access to key evidence in the investigation into the abduction of U.S. television journalist Savannah Guthrie's mother, impairing its ability to assist in the probe, a U.S. law enforcement official with knowledge of the case told Reuters on Thursday.

The FBI asked Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos for physical evidence in the case, including a glove and DNA from the home of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, to be processed at the FBI's national crime laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, but Nanos has insisted instead on using a private lab in Florida, the official said.

FBI would trump a sheriff, yes. But a local sheriff's ego would trump the entirety of the FBI.
Investigation is under the authority of Sheriff's Department with FBI Assisting. Agree that this must be about ego. And it's impeding the investigation and making it move slower since FBI will only get the evidence after the private agency that the Sheriff sent the evidence. MOO

Who said hire anyone? The dimensions of lantana man are a good fit for SIL or DE
So you think DE did this for free? I think it is more likely then not at this stage that AG/SIL were not involved, and no I don't think the guy at the door looks like SIL.

yes. Also makes you wonder if he has something major to hide. James Burke of the Gilgo Beach investigation certainly did.
Nobody wants the FBI sniffing around especially if they are worried about what might be discovered.

A lot being said about the possible 'bite light' in lantana mans mouth and so I wanted to post up a run down of the most likely people to have such a light handy.

Common user profiles include:
Pilots (especially general aviation and night flyers) — They use models like the Flight Gear Bite Light with white light for pre/post-flight checks and red light to preserve night vision in the cockpit.

Theater technicians, lighting crew, stagehands, and wardrobe personnel — In tech theater and backstage work, bite lights (often called "bitelites") are popular for climbing ladders, focusing lights, quick changes in dark wings, or when carrying gear.
Mechanics, auto technicians, or anyone working under vehicles/dashboards — Hands are occupied with tools, so mouth-held light helps see tight spaces.

Performers or quick-change artists (sometimes in drag, costume, or low-light creative work) — Soft, teeth-friendly versions exist for hands-free illumination during fast changes or detailed work.

Jewellers and Crafting Hobbyists — Anyone who works regularly with crafts that require both hands to be free during intricate work.

DIYers, electricians, plumbers, or home repair folks — Anyone who's ever held a regular flashlight in their mouth under a sink or in an attic ends up appreciating a purpose-built bite version.

Outdoor/night workers — Like some night fishing setups (though "bite light" there more often means bite indicators/alarms), or cavers/explorers who prefer mouth-held options over headlamps in tight spots.
Many thanks. Look at friends, family, acquaintances, recent service people, neighbors, etc. who might have these occupations, hobbies, activities?

The jurisdictional pissing contests between federal and local agents seem to go hand in hand with the cases that take ages to resolve.
1000%.
I also believe this is why it hasn’t been solved yet. The county sheriff department botched the case from the start. Each second is exceptionally valuable, but we’re going to play games and ego contests. Unless there is an extremely valid reason (doubtful) then there should be a resignation. JMO
