The “impeccable” LE source, whom AB had known for a decade, is the oddity here. If you supply details of a live, high-profile case to AB, you know exactly what’s going to happen.
True. AB appeared on Megyn Kelly's podcast and the two were talking about this matter. AB said something interesting - that the journalistic standard used to be 3 sources. But over time, the standard has changed based on the "value" of the source - that is, some sources within some contexts are much more reliable than others, Megyn gave as an example the director of the FBI as a high value source - and oftentimes now only ONE is considered adequate when using a "high value" source (not just for AB on her podcast, but for MSM as well).

It's too bad because even high value sources make mistakes (or are themselves reliant on sources that these journalists might consider "lesser value").

ETA: I cannot remember if "value" or "high value" were the precise words used, so consider that my paraphrasing since the general point still is made.

With the search for Nancy Guthrie now in its third week, the Guthrie family – including all siblings and spouses – has been "cleared" as suspects in her disappearance, the Pima County sheriff said.

I wonder if Nancy’s wallet was found in the house with all her credit and debit cards accounted for.

I'm not sure if there's been any discussion of the suspect's shoes. I went through the footage and grabbed a few screenshots. A couple of things stood out to me:

1. No visible laces
2. Flat heel/ molded platform sole
3. Traditional-style moc toe construction
4. Contrasting outsole, likely rubber
5. Toe spring (or bumper)
6. Non-leather material. Probably canvas or mesh.

I don't know how helpful it is, but the closest match I could find was the Carhartt Men's Haslett Moc Toe Boot in black canvas..
Can you determine if these shoes look older and worn previously? Or new looking?
Are these shoes worn more for sports, leisure, work, outdoors, etc?

The sheriff revealed that his brother, who was in hospice, died on February 2, just one day after Nancy was reported missing, a news outlet reported on Sunday, February 15.

The local authority made the revelation while firing back at "haters" who questioned how his department had handled the investigation, pushing back on claims that the crime scene was cleared too early.

"My officers were there for almost 20 hours, and they processed their scene, got it done, and brought in all the evidence," he said. "Then the FBI came and did their thing."

Sheriff Nanos if you are reading this I am so sorry for poking fun at you early on. I had no idea what you were dealing with privately on top of all you were having to deal with publicly. I believe you want justice for Nancy and I hope you are close to getting it.

Agreed… I’m tired of all the bashing of the sheriff.
He is an elected official and is subject to criticism like anyone else. It comes with the job. What locals say IMO are things that have been noticed over the years. He is controversial here. For this case, it remains to be seen IMO still

(FWIW, I used to sell shoes)

Nice catch! Thanks for this post as I also briefly noticed his shoes. But with your enhanced photos, I agrees they are Mocs of some sort. What about Toms?

Does anyone know why they would choose to send the glove to a private lab instead of directly through the FBI? Is that standard in some cases? I’m just trying to understand the reasoning.
It was said private lab was quicker than fbi,it might not have been prioritized because of possible backlog but they will over see it

It's weird how, after attempting to bang the camera (it looks like), he turns around and appears to scan the bed on one side inside the entry area (which was all stones) before stepping down outside the entry area to grab the Lantana planted on one side (outside that little portico area). I wonder if he was communicating with someone who told him to go further out. Wish we knew whether they have audio.

Great attention to detail. I’m interested in the 3rd picture. I can’t make it out but It looks like a possible emblem/makers mark to me or is it possibly a scuff.
This gives me the creeps every time I watch it. Here’s what perplexes me— he knows there is a cam, which is why his head is down as he very slowly walks forward. Then he goes to use his gloved hand to block the camera while trying to remove it. That doesn’t work well, so he thinks a plant stems will help? I’m sure he didn’t want to get his face too close the camera while trying to exert the strength to break it. One would think there would be a lot of better ways to do this.

Just thinking about it, I wonder why he needed to go to the front door anyways. If he entered through the back door to get inside then he didn’t have to break this camera from the front. Before taking her out the front door, he could’ve placed something over that cam to break it without ever being seen.

Othram is private lab that has helped solve so many cases and may have more sophisticated technology.

Well. Not certain but in my opinion it is likely that if found by the perps it definitely would have been something that they would grab.

I agree! I imagine SG is pondering if her Mom's global visibility from being a guest on her show may have something to do with this. Speaking of which, I wonder who's idea if was to showcase NG on SG's morning shows. Would the employer have come up with the idea? Of course, to the employer, it's all about ratings. IMO television personalities exhibiting older folks to the general public is as risky as letting them get to know your children on camera.
MOO
It sure is now,sad

I really hope no one ever judges you as harshly if you went through the exact same scenario. I think we all owe him a little bit of grace.
Talk about a high profile case. Dude held up pretty well all things considered.

Can you determine if these shoes look older and worn preciously? Or new looking?

My 1st impression when I saw the shoes was they looked like HeyDudes. A loafer type slip on shoe. I’m not necessarily sold on that though.

100 percent. I can’t watch it. I’ve seen the original video 4 times. That’s enough. I can study images and videos from the chest down. His covered face and eyes are legitimately terrifying to me. Makes me sick to my
Stomach. I just scroll past quickly. I agree with you, and I have no idea why this person did what they did. Prayers for Nancy and family

Canvass of gun stores done 'several days ago'

Kelly O'Donnell
Kelly O'DonnellKelly O’Donnell is Chief Justice and National Affairs Correspondent for NBC News.

A federal law enforcement official said today that agents conducted a canvass of gun stores "several days ago" as part of the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

The official said that no canvass was done today. If a specific lead requires additional canvassing, it could be possible, the official noted.

"Things are still very fluid and we are out on many leads," the official said.

The federal official noted that this is part of the regular investigative process. The official further cautioned that too much public exposure or reporting on specific steps being taken by law enforcement "whether accurate or inaccurate, gives the perpetrator a window into the investigation. That's not helpful."
