I don’t see her going to the front door in the middle of the night, as most people wouldn’t, IMO. I think as SG said, she was taken from her bed. That makes more sense.

JMO

I think there are a lot of presumptions based on personal bias. We've had opinions on driving at night, hearing, taking uber to family's house, opening front doors and other patterns a person may do.

Many are basing this in their own personal bias, but everyone is so different. I would love to talk to her immediate family and get a vibe check on these possibilities, surely they would know better.

But, yeah, I do believe she would answer the door even at night in certain circumstances, and if Latanas man knew her, or things about her or her family, he could possibly yell out a convincing ruse to lure her to the door (with the doorbell cam down), startled at night (it is also consistent w/ the only piece of video we have and the masked man's behavior on it IMO). I personally know other elderly people that would come to the front door at night under such pretenses. It's very conceivable to me.

Page 90 of Savannah Guthrie’s book ‘MOSTLY WHAT GOD DOES’ :

‘About once a year, in the summertime, cousin T… orchestrated a kidnapping of my sister and me. It went down like this: the cousins would visit for a few days at our house in Tucson, and then, on the morning they were to leave, T…would wake us up early, searching us in the predawn darkness as we made our escape. We would all pile into her rickety station wagon and head north, the sky streaking with bright oranges and pinks as the sun rose over the colors, desert landscape. Somewhere between Phoenix and Tucson, T…would make a pitstop and let Annie and recall home at a payphone.“Mom! Cousin T… kidnapped us to take us to her house! “My mother would faint shock, protest, how terrible she would miss us, then assure us she’d drive up to retrieve us in a few days.’

(No link, because I own the book and am quoting this short passage from it. Hope that’s alright.)

The cousin’s name was deleted by me. Family is not to be discussed. The mentioning of a kidnapping as a children’s play in SG’s book has been mentioned on MSN and here. Nothing new. However, if we even think of an individual wanting to hurt SG, I would hope LE was and is still checking out that area between Tucson and Phoenix.

It would be roughly here:

It would be worth to have the heli out there and perhaps talk to the native Navajo/Apache. They would have seen a lit up car in the middle of the dark night out in the desert..MOO!!

Just a thought.

ALL IMO

Also, just to add, I go to Southern AZ a lot. At night, even on I-80 a major freeway, many people drive with headlights off! Really surprises me!

I assume they just need to change lightbulbs, or maybe doing something sneaky, right near border. Anyway, if the moon is half or full, it’s very easy to see driving at night in the desert.

It was a full moon when NG was taken.

Hi All. Just jumping into this discussion now. Has there been any commentary about the light source seen on the right side of the video showing the suspect putting the leaves over the camera? I know the suspicion that the “no backpack” photo of one suspect has finally been identified by LE as possibly being from another day, but I haven’t seen much discussion about the side light, or the fact that it appears that someone else is holding it.

Thanks for the info. I have only driven the route during day hours. Also, Pinal County does own a state of the art heli since 2025:

I don’t believe the case is going cold at all, not with all the interest, worldwide. SG’s continued pleas to get NG back. Still very active.

I think they are scaling back a lot, and well they should, 400 FBI was really too many. IMO. Kind of bad optics, unless the perp was caught right away. Other missing persons cases felt badly, not as much help.

I do believe the evidence they have found, and more being tested, will give some good leads.
Plus more leads in the tip line with people to look at. NG’s body will eventually be found by Cajon Navy, desert off-roaders, or searchers/ mountain hikers viewing cliff areas. ( sorry).

I believe the case will be solved.

All JMO
Agree. Somebody may know something, and SG's 1 million dollar reward for NG's return could be a powerful motivator - especially if somebody was undecided about turning somebody in. Since bad guys might do something bad to somebody who turns them in, that's excellent that it can be done anonymously with a Tip ID etc.

LE and FBI are likely still testing evidence, following DNA leads through genealogy, sifting through and separating the comingled DNA, doing further examinations of the cars they have taken away, going through each Walmart backpack purchase and comparing the names to faces, looking through Walmart video, etc. While it's unclear if they have any serious leads right now, I'm also confident that they will solve this.

Good catch. While I easily could have missed the discussion, I haven't heard anybody mention it or discuss it. Could be important info if it indicates a second perpetrator. JMO

If you're talking about what I think you are, the movement of the second 'light' perfectly mimics the movement of the rest of the plant in the perp's hand so it's almost certainly just another part of the same plant

A digital forensic expert (who also worked on the Kohberger case) said something like the offender(s) having turned phones off or put them in airplane mode, digital blackout, could be key. Thank goodness some of these criminals are so very stupid between Walmart and Cellebrite they've made capturing them much easier. Please let that be the case here. MOO

<snipped>

"The loudest evidence can be the lack of evidence," she told Fox News Digital. Said cell tower data, Wi-Fi logs and other digital breadcrumbs could prove critical.

Barnhart, who analyzed the phone and computer of BK, told Fox News Digital that criminals often underestimate how difficult it is to truly disappear in a world saturated with connected technology.

Nancy Guthrie suspect's digital ‘blackout’ may be key to case, says expert who probed Kohberger phone

Just read an article talking about how they will look for who had their cell phone off during the time of the crime.

It’s mob mentality, confirmation bias, and tunnel vision. It’s people looking at things from an emotional perspective rather than a rational one. It’s existed since the beginning of time. Just look at how some people behaved during Covid. Family, Friends, and neighbors turning on and turning in each other because someone wasn’t wearing a mask outside during a walk. And the media was just drumming it up, death tally numbers streaming on the bottom of the screen for months. Working up everyone. A lot of that imo, is happening on this case as well. So so so many people are emotionally invested in this case, I’m one of them btw, so it makes it super easy for people to get caught up in a media web of rumor and accusations. I learned and saw it real time during AB reporting, which I never believed that one.
But then the CP and LD raids happened. Potential med air evacs, someone possibly committing suicide during LD raid, which was even reported by local KOLD news at one point ( since retracted.) I just KNEW that was it, ..They got em’ I was gonna wake up and Nancy was going to be found. WRONG! No, I was honestly ashamed of myself and felt so gross for feeding from the media trough. No, I just wait for legitimate confirmation now. Who the hell knows what’s even going on in this case anymore anyway? It’s almost like it’s being purposely obfuscated. MOO
Right, re AB, who was usually pretty solid… IMO. I believed her, she kept repeating about her strong source, and TC, DE were somehow involved. So I looked into them briefly, realized it was not true!

I’m going to attempt to put photos in on light to which I’m referring. Some of the videos avail online cut off the end of the video when the plant is pushed up to the camera. I believe one of the videos shown on TMZ has a longer segment. The light appears at the end of this segment and moves from the top of the screen to the bottom. It appears to be a light source, not a reflection. I’m attaching ing some still shots here and will look for link to entire video.

This is the video showing light source on right of screen. Look at 40-42 sec mark

Yes, this is what I was talking about. In the video, that spot of light moves in the exact same manner as the perps hand/rest of the plant meaning it's almost definitely a part of the plant reflecting the IR light back. The reason it stops occasionally is because the plant is jammed up against the door/door frame

Recently, SG has offered up to one million for the return of her mom/INFORMATION LEADING TO ARREST AND CONVICTION etc. in alignment with FBI rules. She ALSO is donating 500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

People donate their money to charities all the time. We have a family tradition of looking for results. 4 star financial transparentl filings and a strong mission are but 2 things we look at. Use of donations and salaries relative to their donations and operating costs is key.

Charity Navigator - Rating for National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

How does a donation to this organization improve their outcomes? Would the money be better utilized by forming a trust/ 5013c or something else that could make direct donations to affected families? 500k is a lot of money. What is the target utilization for that generally or in the NG case, specifically since she is mentioned on the charity navigator site. ?

In your vast experience, how effective is this organization in giving their resources and what resources do they make available to families aside from entering names in a national database?

I am truly curious as to what this organization accomplishes over any time period.". Ongoing support, flyers, boots on the ground, monetary help for the family? Geared to missing minor's families? Young adult families? Age criteria? Other guidelines? Thanks for any verifiable insights you may have. JMO MOO
I like your idea of a separate fund to go directly to victims.

I’m also thinking, after this ordeal, and losing her dear Mother, SG may possibly make it her new life mission to work with missing people.

She could also work with NBC ongoing doing specials on related topics.

I suppose Nancy could have been in bed, taken out of bed, and then injured because there must be blood that is not in her bed.
"We know she went to bed." - Sheriff Nanos
Nanos mentioned that he wonders whether she got up to go to the door, restroom, or to the fridge.
AB's source said the blood drops inside match the blood drops outside. They are passive blood drops falling from a height meaning Nancy was either standing or being carried when she was bleeding.

The only way I can see her going to the front door is if she got an alert via the doorbell nest cam app and she went to make sure her front door was locked.

But, yeah, I do believe she would answer the door even at night in certain circumstances,
But it's said she had mobility problems, and needed help to get to her mailbox up the path.

Do you think she had a walker for use in the house? Or maybe walked with a stick?

If so, she may have not got to the door in time for a delivery person. Maybe she just lets packages get left at her porch, unless a signature is needed. No rush then.

And for a perp that was knocking/ringing the bell....would they become impatient? Would it make them angry, as if they are being ignored? Maybe they already knew NG has mobility issues?

My opinion doesn’t matter here but I want to offer this for anyone not knowing what its like not to hear anything. When I retired I went to work part time helping the elderly. I worked with a woman, 86, who could not hear anything at all without her hearing aids, and with them, she had only slight hearing. I cleaned her home, paid her bills and cooked her meals every day. Her only son lived out of town and would not pay for overnight care for her, though she could truly afford it. She wore a life alert necklace but sometimes would push it by accident or roll over it at night. She never heard the alarm and kept it in another room.

One morning I showed up for work and her front wooden door was smashed in and the lock on the glass door broken. Of course, when I yelled her name there was no answer,. I screamed, got in my car and locked the doors and called police. I wasn’t about to walk in that home alone. The 911 operator transferred me to a policeman, I was frantic, and he says “Oh yes, we were there at 2 AM. Mrs. (name not necessary) rolled over on her life alert during the night. The alarm company called us and we had to break in the door to get in. She was sleeping soundly and was startled when we woke her.”

I went in the home and she was back in bed sound asleep. Needless to say, I had to get a carpenter that day to buy a new door and lock and install it. When I called her son, he was unconcerned. I told him to come into town NOW. It took him a few days but i quit the day he arrived. I told him what I thought of his lack of care of his mother. I have always wondered about her. She lived another six years.

I do not believe Nancy ever heard anyone or answered a door. i believe, as Savannah said, she was taken from her bed that night. As for the 41 minutes the perp was in her home, he was either looking for something valuable he knew about, or there was a SA.
Either way, I am praying for the Guthrie’s.

ETA: If Nancy awoke she may have tried to run or fought him and he hit her, making her bleed. That could have been what caused him to take her with him.

I’m interested to see if neighbors are hospitable to the legitimate journalists, but decline space for the more obnoxious YouTube/X “reporters”…
I think that's probably the case.

  • #39,780
makes sense......I'm wondering if they knew how mobile she is/was? BC its one to two person job to carry her to a waiting vehicle
Exactly. If she was unconscious or deceased, the weight would feel heavier/more cumbersome. I think originally they may have envisioned walking her out with support from them. If they had been watching her or had an insider giving them information, they probably knew she walked with a cane, but was still able to drive so not completely mobility impaired.
