Can anyone clarify the temperature in Celsius across the days and nights the week the kids went missing? I imagine that it was cold and damp in the trailer. Perhaps there were times they slept in the vehicle for heat? Carbon monoxide poisoning in the car or trailer?

If you give me the dates, I can ask Chatgpt for the historical weather.

Thanks for remembering me but I don’t recall any of Maleyha’s family members mentioning visits to the trailer, where she lived prior to the children’s disappearance.

The kids went missing when NS was beginning to see Springlike temperatures. They just came out of winter and the snow was beginning to melt. Conditions were perfect for kids to play outside after a long winter and put some ground under their feet.

I very, very much doubt that they would sleep in the vehicles for warmth. Firewood for the wood burning stove is free. Vehicle fuel is expensive.

I was thinking more along the lines of how you can keep a car warm with a candle in the case of an emergency. During a brutal ice storm in Ontario and Quebec years ago, power was out for days. A number of people died from carbon monoxide poisoning bc they heated their places with bbqs, heaters, etc. Firewood is free, but some woodstoves don’t throw heat very far, it may not have been sufficient to heat the whole trailer.

Oh, I am sure that a wood stove in a trailer would be more than sufficient, and would be usable even during power outages. During the Ice Storm, folks who had wood stoves did quite well. Wood heat is really wonderful, comfortable and warm. You can cook on the wood stove, or dry your boots and mittens.

There are lots of safety standards for wood stoves in mobile homes to prevent accidents.

If someone suffered from CO2 poisoning, would not the first thing to do is call emergency? I guess I may not be following what you're getting at.

Missing N.S. children’s grandmother starts a fundraising campaign for guardianship

It has been almost 10 months since Lilly Sullivan, 6, and Jack Sullivan, 4, were reported missing from their home on Gairloch Road in Lansdowne Station, N.S., on May 2, 2025. Jack would now be five years old.

Their grandmother, Belynda Gray, has taken the lead in keeping the search alive and pushing for answers.

In the meantime, she has launched a GoFundMe as she seeks guardianship of her grandchildren. That guardianship would allow her to access documents she currently cannot, including reports from Child Protective Services and the children’s school.

It is sad that she must go to such a length to access any records of CPS involvement prior to the children going missing but I can't say I blame her and once she does I hope she will make that information public.
I recall her son relinquished rights re custody of the kids when Maleyha left him and was about to fight for sole custody, isn't that why he apparently stop seeing them ?

Is custody by a parent different than guardianship?

In my country there is a distinguished factor between the two , custody is to whomsoever care a child is under , guardianship is legal rights as belynda is fighting for .

I would like to know if her son still retains those rights and if so why is he not pushing for that info to be given to him and therefore enabling his mother to see them without having to ask the public for funds ?

I believe that guardianship has more to do with legal rights to act in best interest of the minors than specifically custodial arrangements. I do believe her son gave up custodial rights to the children if I remember, but this is more about chasing records. Quite frankly, I don't care who does it if it gets the information she is looking for. I think the odds of her winning are slim to none but can't help rooting for her because I feel these children were let down by the adults they lived with. JMO

If her son only relinquished custodial rights would he not retain legal right though is parental guardianship ?

a good question. that I don't know the answer to. I would think so, but maybe he has no interest in pursuing (how sad if true)

Yes this was the thought I had especially if his mum could have easily obtained insight through him having an automatic right for access to reports if he retained guardianship rights
