if it is a back camera--not sure the purpose because you can't really see NG's house through all that vegetation. JMO.
But at night you'd be able to see lights on in the house, or a small light outside bobbing around.

So how did the perp inhibit the blood from trailing the whole way across his route with nancy to the vehicle?

Something is not adding up imo
You stuff the bleeding body into a large plastic tote, or just the bleeding part into a plastic bag and tie it off before you put it into the vehicle. You certainly don't have to fool with wrapping a body with a waterproof tarp. :(

I have noticed what is possibly a dark vehicle parked at the front of Nancy’s garden reflecting light from the surroundings in the footage of the perpetrator on the porch , you have to pause the video when he moves away a bit and it’s on the left of him take a picture of that moment then zoom in to what looks like a black mailbox it’s behind there . See if anyone else can see what I see please !

Are you referring to a shape of a dark vehicle at the curb?

There was a post weeks ago that highlighted it but I can't find it.

Can you take a screenshot and circle it?

It seems likely that he didn't know lantana is toxic. The way he went back out and grabbed it looked pretty random to me.

I have lantana growing outside my apartment and until now hadn't known it's toxic. When it came up in this thread I sometimes went out and grabbed it to see if it had spikes or was sticky. Maybe that wasn't a great idea. ;) That said, I gather that most of the toxicity comes from ingesting the stuff.

JMO
Apparently he also either did not know or did not care about the very distinct scent of the lantana plant. That smell only gets stronger, when crushed or rubbed.

I wonder if people in Tucson have nearby summer or winter cottages. For example in some states people may have summer cottages on a lake where they stay for the summer. They are vacant in the winter. It is possible no one would notice a car parked there off season or not think much about it.
Some people in the Phoenix area retreat to Flagstaff, Payson, etc. when it's really hot.

Yes, that's the one I recall.
I'm assuming the FBI must have seen and enhanced it with their expert technology.

I believe the one I am remembering from weeks ago seemed if anything even clearer.

Hey, my friend. I thought that as well but when a reporter asked LE about whether valuables, or bank/atm cards were taken they said they weren't going to be getting into that.

Also FBI Janke stated that they were looking at lots of video - including banks.

I will find that part of the presser and post it.

Sheriff Nanos on whether any valuables were taken or if any atm/bank cards were used after crime.

Timestamp: 5:30

FBI Janke states that they are looking at videos of banks.

Timestamp: 12:35

There's video showing that the blood trail went down the driveway, and wasn't localised. There was a slightly longer clip (just a couple of seconds longer) but I can't find it now. This is pretty close:

Thanks for sharing this clip. The blood trail appears to trail off to the left where the FBI agents were looking on the ground by the stepping stones.

Regarding porch perp using the lantana plant

Lantana is toxic and can cause breathing difficulties, and can cause extreme burning and inflammation of the eyes on contact with the sap

Why risk this ?

because he used it on the Nest cam , if sap leaked , could Nancy have come in contact with it either from perps gloves or some other way
if it caused her breathing difficulties, she could aspirate blood because of the blood thinners hence the blood in the position it was .

Does it suggest the perp was unfamiliar with the flora of the area or that he knew the plant was toxic

He also had a torch in his mouth ,so removal of outer glove would have to happen before he removed it so as not to intoxicate himself accidentally???
I have it. And it isn't toxic in that sense. It smells like cat pee. I trim it all the time. Everyone grows it. I wouldn't eat it. Also, it isn't "sappy". It's wood tends to be brittle. I think a reaction to purple lantana would be extremely rare. I have never heard of it.

There is also a native lantana Lantana urticoides that has little hairs on the leaves (kinda like stinging nettle). However, purple trailing lantana Lantana montevidensis is not native lantana. Purple lantana is native to South America. And to the best of my knowledge purple lantana is sterile.

IMO, the contents of the ransom notes were real, but were NOT written by the kidnapper(s). It was written by an individual that was either at the initial response to the crime scene or someone with intimate knowledge from that scene trying to scam a buck.

Real kidnappers would find a way to provide proof of life. That's how you get paid!!

Opportunistic scum have NO WAY to show proof of life, so they go radio silent because their bluff has been called...JMO

The inside crime scene was managed and very few people get access. I'm certain that if it was someone privy to the details of a crime scene that would demand the FBI take a ransom email seriously, that those folks would've been ruled out very quickly.

I've mentioned before that proof of life is an antiquated axiom in which we have been conditioned for aeons by movies, television, and talking heads. It isn't necessary, and modern tech like the advent of untrackable digital currencies, hidden proxies, and AI platforms give an almost impenetrable advantage to professionals to snuff negotiations and make an initial sweeping demand without follow up.

It is not fair to judge. How many times is she supposed to pay somebody just because they sent you a letter and no proof of life? As difficult as it is, if LE had good reasons to believe they were not real, it was wise not to pay them. Pay a scammer and end up with an endless supply of scammers sending you ransom notes. On the other hand, if they advised me against paying and the notes turned out to be real, I would be clawing some people's eyes out. But that's me.

Again, I don't think the FBI would coordinate a global media event and have a desperate, grieving, and shocked family go through all of that if they didn't confirm that it was a legitimate ransom demand from the people who took Nancy.

Yes, but it's manageable. I need to trim mine. It's no worse than smelling like sweat on a hot day! Lots of plants are pungent smelling...
Don't think he was planning on going out to eat in those clothes.

In the screenshot you posted it looks to me like they are inspecting some kind of “animal” droppings? The one agent to the left runs it trough her fingers (even smelling it..). Just saying.
I have a theory the porch guy his favoring his hand, arm and leg on one side because he either fell over the pile of rocks, or stumbled into some of that trecherous landscaping; cactus, yucca, not sure what other spiny, pokey, pointed plants are in the yard, but all of it can hurt you. Perhaps they thought there were scuffled prints off the stepping stone path are were hoping it was a blood trail?

All of us are obviously only theorizing, since none of us actually know the truth of what has transpired.

But one issue I have is that the Guthrie family did beg, and said they WOULD pay, and yet there is no Nancy.

This IMO suggests that the ransom was a) inauthentic or b) authentic but NG had passed already, and they were trying to finagle the money regardless.

And just plain cruel is what the kidnapper(s) have already proven themselves to be, just by taking her, so personally I expect nothing kindly nor compassionate from them.

Just my opinion, with respect for the opinions of others.

Concur.

The FBI has a standard protocol of not paying ransom demands and advising others not to pay them. This is for obvious reasons and not a bad policy from a broad perspective. However, I feel like these kidnappers made it clear what the terms of a return were and that they wouldn't re-engage to negotiate nor provide anything else other than the follow up email reinforcing those terms.

My view is that this is a different kind of kidnapping for ransom, adapted to modern tech that gives a kidnapper the ability to redefine the contract without having to follow up with "proof of life" or anything else. The loved ones either pay or else, in other words.

I think what you see there is the reflection of this sign on N Cer Chica that is right opposite NGs house. If you look at the aerial footage, the front door path points to that area, you can even see the tall cactus in your image. All MOO though.

Now, could that be a shorter vehicle under that reflection? Maybe. But I don't see anything in other clips of the video. (I just added one)

Tiny red circle is alcove entrance, med circle is cactus you can see to the left in your image, large circle is the back side of the sign. All courtesy of Google.

The sad reality is that house is now much more secure empty than it ever was when it had a vulnerable 84 year old NG living alone in it.

The old adage "better late than never" probably doesn't apply here. Sad.
This truth is achingly sad.

Where is Nancy? I can't believe we're still here talking about this - 34? 35? days later 🥺

  • #43,440
was the home empty at the time?

The crime map just states Larceny (All other). It doesn't specify whether someone was at home at the time of the Larceny.

It also doesn't specify whether the Larceny was committed inside the home or outside the home.
