Found Deceased NC- Deanna Cook, 48, Manteo, Dare County, May 2019

We only see what she posts as public - she could post more things that are invisible to anyone not in her friends lists (or subsets of friends). That said, she posts publicly about every week or every other week so not frequently at all.

Still no information on where or when. Comments on the Sheriff's posts about her missing have locals saying where law enforcement were looking or where they believe she was last seen but none of that is confirmed.

This is where the general area of her last whereabouts appears to be but it is unconfirmed

Google Maps

Thanks

Gut feeling, as always, is that the husband did something to his wife, waited 3 days, and then reported her missing. It's also not uncommon for women in that age range to be depressed and to commit suicide. I'm not going to search for stats just yet, but I have read a number of missing men and women discussions here where, in the 50s age range, suicide is the cause of death. Sometimes, with suicide, people find very remote spots and even stage their disappearance as lost or accidentally missing, perhaps in the hope that they will never be found or identified as suicide.

Obvious questions are about girlfriend and life insurance policies.

Was she missing for 3 days, or did she last post on FB on May 19, and not turn up for dinner on May 21?

What does Manteo look like?
Where was she last?

Manteo is on an area of flat land, old and new small businesses and homes, definitely not a fat-cat resort area, but still a relaxing small town for retirees, seafood-business people, and just regular folks. A bit slow -- the "good" kind of slow; a mix of those families who have been there for a century, etc., and some new retirees, teachers, builders, etc.

Here is a brochure for this little town

Thanks. Reported missing May 22 and searches haven't produced results.

Any thoughts on where someone would hide a body in that area?
Is it a possibility that this is a suicide?

The water table is probably too close to the surface to bury someone, but the ocean could take care of a body if someone could take a body out in a boat -- far enuff so that the tide wouldn't bring the body back to the island. A body could be dumped off a bridge, but traffic is fairly steady this time of year -- but maybe not at 3:00am. I don't know about other places on the island to hide a body...

We vacation on Hatteras Island for a week every summer and I was looking at their local news online and saw this. What keeps sticking out to me is they say “last seen in an oversized gray blue t-shirt”. As in, that’s all she was wearing? Like maybe she was sleeping in that when last seen, or? A description of the shirt only, without the inclusion of “jeans, shorts etc” just makes me wonder is all....
I see from her fb she has children - hope she’s found safely

Maybe she was wearing a men's super-large t-shirt that looked more like a dress than a t-shirt. I wear those like a gown sometimes, and they come down to my knees (I am 5 ft tall), and everything that should be covered-up is covered-up. Just a thought -- dunno.

Hoping for the best for her and her children.

I found this -- no more details, but I guess if LE suspects suicide, this is the only way to report it.
So sorry to think that she may have made that decision, but we still do not know much about it.
SMH -- such a shame for her friends and family, regardless of how they lost her.
