In those pics I posted above, doesn't it look like someone is in the back seat of the car?

Yes, we've been wondering the same thing.

Definitely one person in dark/light (depending on the camera) colored clothing on the passenger side to the right and possibly another sitting directly behind the driver.

If you google NC gangs...you will find it shocking. It is a hotbed of gang activity according to things I have been reading today.

The 52 Hoover Crips gang started in LA, but has branched out all across the country. There are many, many offshoots...but they are as dangerous as the original.

My gosh, I can't believe it. I never realized such a thing was so rampant in NC.
Just amazing.

Break in the Case:

Police release ATM video:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,336149,00.html

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina police on Saturday released an ATM surveillance picture of a person of interest in the case of a slain student body president and said it appeared to be a random killing.

"This is our biggest break so far," Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran said at a press conference of the picture, which was taken from an ATM surveillance camera.

Police were seeking to identify the person of interest, who allegedly used a financial transaction card belonging to Eve Carson, a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student who was shot to death early Wednesday on a city street not far from campus.

Thanks for the update. Can't the FBI run this picture on DMV records in NC?

I hope they arrest this 🤬🤬🤬! I don't know what I was thinking, but you're absolutely right, Paladin and SS, no one will rat on him, not even for $25,000 'cause they would be killed for it!

It may be harder to bring him in than I thought.

Where I live, we have been dealing unsuccessfully with it for as long as I can remember. At least the past 20 or so years.

The only shot they have is if they have a mother that will turn in her own son.

Well, just because you are in a gang, that doesn't mean that you don't have aquaintances beyond your gang! I pray these pictures get national attention and someone will turn him in. I wish I knew him, I would all too happy to call and turn someone in for such a horrific act.

The article about the crips says they're a nation wide African American gang.
I am naieve, but I didn't ever think about gang members in Chapel Hill area!

Scarey world we live in!

I've never thought about gang members being in Chapel Hill either. I used to live pretty close and go shopping there on Saturdays.

Durham is much rougher and not all that far away. Same for Raleigh. Maybe this guy doesn't live in Chapel Hill.

Well maybe the sound of the $25,000 award money will push someone to turn him in. I hope so.
Hope there is someone out there wwho will do the right thing!

My husband and I both are Carolina graduates. And we now have a daughter in school down there. in fact she just got home alittle bit ago, spring break!

We lived in Cary for several years before my husband was transferred.
I'm sure you're right, SewingDeb. Durham and Raleigh are so close.

There's evile everywhere, no one is immune!

this is absolutely correct! a teacher (from before he was a drop-out if he is today), a store clerk, a neighbor, a co-worker....someone will recognize this guy and turn him in. with the national attention this case is getting this guy will be caught.

the time of the first 911 call which came within seconds of the shooting and the time of this ATM transaction will let us know if that was Eve alive in the back seat.

We must have been on the same wave length as I had been looking for that exact hat from the Hoover Crips, too. Good find!! Note the way the bill is off to one side, too. This is another sign.

However, being gang related means chances are there won't be anyone coming forward to turn them in. They don't snitch and people are afraid to testify against them...because it means they risk retalliation.

This also could mean the murder in Auburn is related tho. It could have been a gang initiation on a larger scale.

They are not related. OR maybe this one an Auburns and Bri are all related.

I think one of types of people you describe will be the ones to turn him in not a gang member. I believe the tipster is anonymous anyway. We interact with lots of people that we may not realize recognize us.

Great find sweetmop. Those are the clearest pictures I've see yet.
If this nastyazzedpunk randomly chose and killed Eve, it makes her death even more sad, if that's possible.
My money is on him taking her car after shooting her.

We noodled on this earlier with mrsmush, CP, and SS. Looks like a male-sized peron in the rear passenger seat and mrsmush thought there was an "M" visible in the driver's side rear window. Did anyone hear of the car being a crime scene? I'm thinking she was shot outside the car, where she was found.

izzy is right; the time stamp will tell us if she was alive when the ATM was accessed. With at least two people involved, and her being shot in an awakening upper-class area, I can't figure out the timeline on exactly when and how she was taken. If the 🤬🤬🤬 got her at her car, got the PIN, and killed her there, it is mighty risky driving the car and then bringing it back to near the scene of the killing. Even stranger to keep her until the ATM transaction then take her back near where her car would be known and shoot her there. The location of the murder and the high-profile of Eve seems more to be sending a message of a targeted hit, with the ATM a ruse.

Somebody wanted very badly to have her found in this prominent location and took significant risks to do so.

Thoughts??

I just had a thought about the ATM and why he might have kept her alive until then. It could be because he wanted to make sure she gave the right pin number. If she was already dead, he'd have no way of getting the right pin number. Just thought I had from reading your post.
