'And honestly I didn't smell anything'. Another whooper. Who doesn't smell a decomposing body within five feet of 'em?

The jurors won't buy that one for a dime.

  • #542
The gentlemen from the Houston dive team testified (sorry i can't remember his name) that he could smell decomposing body parts in the creek; so, how in the world does AH expect us to believe she didn't know all this was going down? defense must think jury is stupid.

As far as I can tell Sha is no longer in town. Considering she barely looked at her mother while she was on the stand, I get the feeling things are not good between them.

I'm not surprised. I hope Sha can get on with her life, a good life, and nothing like the example her mother has set.

After everything before and after, she gave him $50,000. I'm still reeling at the thought of it. I can just see GH's face & hear him laffing all the way to the bank. Good golly. And you're right, Surfie, what might Sha have done with it? Or perhaps, AH could have bought a plane ticket to anywhere & set up housekeeping without that (IMO) worthless, lying, murdering slug.

I'm wondering how she is paying Gaskins, et al since she has testified that they/she were flat broke and had been evicted. She pawned her jewelry and that $189 thousand was gone. I would love to know where the money came from to pay for a private defense team and not use a court appointed one. I hope she didn't have to pay very much as I am not seeing a very bang up job from her defense team.

I really didn't understand what was going on with the letters. Could someone explain what the point of that was, please. Do people generally keep envelopes from their correspondence?

The thank you card from LA seemed to me to be from right after AH had given her the plane ticket to New York, at which point she wouldn't have known AH on a personal basis yet. Funny that was the only one without an envelope to show when it was sent.

Hi all! Just got interested in this trial about a week ago, and am finally catching up with you all!

Yes, electricity is necessary -- as I mentioned before, my DH has the same saw -- a SKIL brand reciprocating saw. They do not have a battery-powered model. It needs that 'lectric thang. And you can bet if those houses are vacant, there is no 'lectric in them. Oopsy, Mr. Def Atty.

How loud is the saw, borndem? If AH was in another room, could she hear the saw in the bathroom?

TIA!!

OT////You all who are in the storm affected areas, please continue to check in as you can so I won't worry about you. I'll do the same. In the meantime I'll be praying that none of us lose our power as I can deal with most anything but that. However, I have learned hot to make a darn good pot of old timey percolator coffee on the grill due to so many hurricanes that knocked our power out for weeks at the time. But I don't want to have to do that in the snow and ice.

Not Born, but yes!! We have one too and it's loud. Can be heard all over the house and it's a pretty big house. So I know she's lying about that. I think pretty much everything that came out of her mouth today was a lie.

Live now! Judge reading movie synopses!

Ripley movie: says storyline has no parallel to this trial. Most of the viewing would be information which is irrelevant, confusing, and of no probative value.

People can testify as to parallels in Ripley's character to GH.

Stepford Wives up next. Both of these films are Hollywood, contrived. Reading reviews of the movie. Mentions all the reviews that said how funny and hilarious the movie was.

This case is not a comedy and there is no probative value to the movie. Objection sustained.

And now... back to the Dunn trial for a while. Yes, he'll be testifying. I'll catch up on this trial later and during breaks.

:seeya: CarolinaMoon! Re bold - do you have a link to a WS forum thread for this one?

TIA!!

I just watched about 5 min of her testimony on WRAL, boy, she is a piece of work...the voice, the feigned naïveté...I feel so sorry for her daughter. I HONESTLY hope she is convicted...too bad she's not eligible for the death penalty. I am heartbroken for Laura, that she had the misfortune to cross the path of these 2 soulless villains.

I just watched AH's testimony on WRAL - and having never seen her before - no exposure to the trial of Grant, etc. - I just have to say...

She had YEARS to formulate a good story. All those empty hours in jail where she could plot & plan and match up the weak points of her story, with the documented facts.

She could have done SO MUCH BETTER. Not that I'm complaining - she's made the State's case much easier to prove - but how can this woman (and I use that term loosely, no pun intended) really think that the jury is going to buy this bullchit? The painfully looooong and drawn out poopy explanation, ew. What self-respecting woman would let her house have a stopped up toilet for a couple days?! Knowing that she had a visitor coming (Laura) and knowing that she was sooooo intent upon appearing perfect...I just find that the most unbelievable explanation ever. It's pathetic.

Not only that - her "chick-fil-a" story, although rooted in truth, annoys me as well. Mainly because - they are so broke they are pawning everything but the kitchen sink...they are buying giftcards on AMEX to buy groceries - and she's eating out? That just shines a light on her personality - she does what she wants, when she wants to, and the final cost, monetary or otherwise, be damned.

Ugh. Her existence annoys me.

& on a totally shallow note, why should a cold, lying ***** like AH get blessed w/ good bone structure-if I were sitting in jail my hair wouldn't look nearly as good (it doesn't look that good now). I just get the feeling that she has sailed through life, on looks & maybe charm (although I'm not seeing it) & she expects to get off on this charge, thanks to her acting ability...I hope she is cruelly surprised by the verdict.

Exactly!!

They're going through a custody battle and she knows LA is coming but thinks it's fine to have a stinky bathroom?

I wish I had watched the GH case because this one has grabbed me in the last two days. Did AH testify against GH?

AH is cutting Becky off and it's driving me crazy. I want BH to tell her to please allow her to finish her question. I also want to slap AH out of that chair. I'm not a violent person but I absolutely detest this woman.

bbm

She did once, and not kindly. It was fairly early in the cross, and our BH was just warming up... "Please wait until I finish asking the question." Cold stare from the ADA.

I'm laughing at her testimony about Grant ("who's a little guy"), when they're headed back to NC, he's carrying the machete & his little knife, & wearing one of the kid's hats? & acting very paranoid- they really did deserve each other didn't they?

  • #557
I noticed that too. She interrupts before the question has been asked. I think it's a tactic for taking control of the question and answer.

She hasn't quite perfected that one yet, has she, otto?!

I heard this part of her testimony today and was wondering about that as well. Let's remember, the body parts were dumped in the creek and found without any plastic bags. To collect some of the parts, they put a sheet in the water under them and hauled them out.

No way she wouldn't have smelled the remains, she had to see them, unless she was totally turned away from Grant.

If you missed Amanda's trial testimony today, 2/11/14, you can scroll down in the linked article and click on 3 videos.

The trial videos are to the left of the article. 3 Parts = 3 videos . . . at this time. WRAL also posts the videos in the Archived section on their website.

WRAL - Raleigh, NC

Raleigh, N.C. — Testifying in her first-degree murder trial on Tuesday, a soft-spoken Amanda Hayes told a jury of three men and nine women that she did not kill her stepchildren's mother and had no involvement in the July 13, 2011, death at her Raleigh home.

It wasn't until six days later, she said, that she realized Laura Ackerson – who was involved in a bitter child custody fight with Grant Hayes – had died.

By that time, the Hayes and the children had taken a trip to see her sister in Richmond, Texas, and Grant Hayes was looking get rid of the 27-year-old's dismembered remains.

The couple was outside late one night, Amanda Hayes said, when he told her what had happened and that "none of us were going to make it back to North Carolina" if she didn't help him figure out a way.

I don't see Amanda crumbling under questioning. I would like to see the prosecutor set her up in a clear contradiction.

You mean like the way Boz did with the PI!? Ka-Pow!!

I'm sure BH is working on just that, otto. She's already shown her to be evasive and contradicting some explanation, at least. And not subtly.
