Would you by chance know when the trial for Earl Kimrey begins? I've been following this case since the beginning and live in neighboring county. I would like to attend the trial if possible. I can not find Earl Kimrey listed on any court calendar.

I would appreciate any information you could provide.

    Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out. We do not know as of now and I don't believe a date has been set. I do know that a recent case involving an Onslow County man who was headed to trial for the death of his daughter was recently closed when he plead guilty. District Attorney Ernie Lee had previously told me Earl Kimrey's trial would be set once that case was completed. I hope to have answers sometime soon.

    Take care,
    Morgan

Yes, thank you for connecting with this reporter. BUT - there was a trial date set - 11/8/22 -
So - I was wondering "where" I got the Nov. 8th date for trial - so went back looking. It is from this article - which I can not access - but AgeofAquaruis said it was Nov. 8th.

I shall change my notes than...

I will be glad to help Niner. I also plan on attending this trial as much as possible.

Thank you! I shall put your name in my notes than! :)

And we will have our own reporter at trial!! Cool!

Yes, I have November 8th as the trial date too. But, I'm not finding him on the court calendars at all. I'll keep checking.

Okay -! I wish I could access that court site... I used to be able to in the U.S. - otherwise I do not think I would have followed this case.

Yes - it was in that article I just posted above. Hope it is still a go - even if the court site doesn't have anything. I guess we shall find out.

Update, I subscribed to the court calendar notification. I have received all criminal court dockets for 11/7 22 through 11/17/22 so far. No Earl Kimrey listed for any court date.
I'll probably receive one Monday. I'll share.

Cool! Well, than I will have to put a "Maybe" on this trial than. I shall see what you post on Monday.
Thanks!

Article about cases in this county and interview with DA Lee in July 2022:

Lee said over the next couple of weeks his office plans to schedule even more trial dates. However, scheduling can often be difficult and has a lot of moving parts as he has to speak with prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Here are the pending murder trials with scheduled start dates.

Adolphus Earl Kimrey
A man charged in the death of 3-year-old Mariah Woods could finally stand trial this year.

Adolphus Earl Kimrey was charged on Jan. 24, 2018 with first-degree murder and felony intentional child abuse. Kimrey's arrest warrant states the defendant “intentionally” inflicted serious bodily injury on Mariah Kay Woods using chloroform.

Kimrey's trial has been moved multiple times, but Lee said the office plans to start his trial in the fall. However, he added that Kimrey's trial will be based on how things go with another murder case.

I may be getting things mixed up, but the article @Niner posted was from 2021, so I think it was initially a 11/8/2021 court date.

This article Superior court judge grants motion, moves Earl Kimrey murder trial for third time

Says "After a brief hearing, Judge Pate granted the defense's request to move Kimrey's trial date from Nov. 8 to March 21, 2022."

I can't find any updates about what happened after that.

But then I have this in my notes:

3/21/22 Monday, Trial Day 1: Trial was cancelled. New trial date is 11/8/22.

I'll keep an eye on that FB as the family use it and it was the Admin had posted the up to date info regarding court.

A very funny night last night.

I have never understood the incredibly long delay in this case. I realize covid delayed things, but that was the case everywhere, and there have been so many cases here that occured after this (some quite long after) that have already gone to trial. What is the deal in Onslow County?!

I wish I knew! Yes we had covid but so did everywhere. It beggars belief that this is still waiting.

Thank you for your confidence. I'm very interested in this case and the trial. Unfortunately, I received two emails today for court dates 11/9 and 11/10 amended. Still no Earl Kimrey on the dockets for trial. I'll keep bugging people. It is a real aggravation that the DA gagged all media on this trial. Sucks. And I'm being nice.

Well, I gave my honest opinion early after the arrest. IMO, there is not enough evidence to try him for first degree murder. Yes, there is evidence of him disposing of Mariah's body, but it appears, to me at least, that it's a "she said, he said" on anything involving who gave the overdose of chloraform. JMO.
