A reckless driving charge in VA can be as simple as a speeding ticket (in this case 13 over the posted speed limit). Not that the ticket isn't deserved but most people assume a reckless driving ticket is for DUI or DWI and it wreaks havoc on insurance costs. Most of these in VA are usually amended to speeding or in this case defective equipment.

Last week a fellow searcher and I searched a dozen bodies of water. These were possible dump sites along rail lines that cut through portions of Tuckertown Reservoir. These areas are near where I located the stolen Chevy Lumina I posted about back in January. I've been given a new area to concentrate my search efforts by the lead investigator. I cleared several bodies of water earlier this week in this area. Many more searches are planned for July.

On another note, Van Ly Lam, Vienchan Lam, and Jonathan Lam have court dates coming up next week where their trial dates will probably be set. Most likely in August. I have been informed that the felony obstruction of justice case against each of them is very strong. They could spend up to 25 months in prison if convicted. Hopefully reality will set in and one of them will finally talk.

Where is Nancy?
My search for Nancy is still ongoing. After discussing the case with the new investigator, I now have a region of interest to search based on his in depth review of the case he conducted after taking over. I have been to this region of interest several times clearing ponds and now have a couple more reservoirs to sonar map.

The next court date for the Van, Vienchan, and Jonathan is August 18th. I plan to be there. Hoping they get trial dates scheduled for their Felony Obstruction charges in this case. Maybe one of them will finally talk.

I am splitting my time between searching for Larry Burton and Nancy. The new region I am searching for Nancy is close to where Larry went missing.

Looks like some additional charges were added when they served the warrant for his arrest.

Care to add some context to this shocking news? Was this an OD and he disposed of her body? Who is this woman, any idea?

The malice aforethought in the first degree murder charge makes an accidental OD and concealment seem unlikely. I can’t find anything on this current charge yet.

This is all we know at this time. Local news has not even reported on this yet. He was arrested yesterday afternoon. The warrant is for First Degree Murder. This is not an OD coverup. The name of the victim is listed as "AMBER MARIE SCHIMMELPFENNING". I am not finding very much about her.

I am in close communications with Nancy's Family. WE are hoping that Van Lam (brother), Viechan Lam (sister), and Jonathan Lam (Nephew), who are all awaiting trial for obstruction of justice in the disappearance of Nancy will finally com forward and tell authorities where Nancy is. All of them helped to dispose of Nancy and the Honda Pilot.

I’m new to this thread - brought in with the latest news. @Vern_S is certainly one of the heroes. Thanks for keeping us updated and well informed but, more so, thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of Nancy and her family.

What a horrible tragedy he was allowed to do this again.

Here is a quick synopsis of the case.

Nancy Bunly went missing almost a year ago along with a Black Honda Pilot that belonged to the boyfriend, Ricky Lam. It's believed that the boyfriend killed her and that the boyfriends brother, sister, and nephew helped to cover it up by helping him dispose of Nancy along with the boyfriends Honda Pilot. The brother, sister, and nephew are awaiting trial for felony obstruction of justice charges in this case. I have been searching for Nancy since November of last year.

I know the cover-up of Nancy's disappearance has caused a rift in the Lam family. I was in court with Nancy's family during a pre trial hearing for the brother, sister, and nephew (the sisters son). The brother sat on the opposite side of the courtroom and did not look at or speak with the sister or the nephew the entire time. Now would be a perfect time for any of them or all three of them to cut a deal in Nancy's case.

Thanks for the synopsis! I did read the thread before replying and updated the truncated post you replied.

I am sure the family is very appreciative for your support. It is insane he tried to do it again. Any other skeletons in his closet, I wonder?

Interesting! Was this the Aug 18 hearing? Did they set any future dates?

Sorry for another post, but I have many questions about his latest victim - the first being whether she reported missing?? I didn’t find anything. (He seems to pick younger women to date/kill.)

At least there’s hope he doesn’t get the opportunity to do it again.

This was the June 30th hearing. I believe the trial date was set for Oct 6th at the last hearing

All I know at this time is that the arrest and warrant documents I posted here appeared online yesterday.

There is a second Warrant listed with the arrest record. Looks like he may have used a .22 to kill the woman. The date of offense with this warrant is the same as the murder warrant.
