OMG how sad..poor girl I thought maybe she just needed get away for awhile. I can tell you this though whoever put her on Ft.Bragg has to be familiar with the base. You just don't drive on a military base to dispose of a body. On Fort Hood in Texas just 2 weeks ago they found a female body also on the base. They are not saying anything but that they suspect homicide. She was also found in an area that someone not familiar with the base would just ''happen'' upon.

Fort Bragg is an open base.. anyone can drive thru the base with exception of a couple of off limit areas. I have family that live in the area and frequently drive thru the base to get to fayettville. There are some very remote areas on the base with little or no traffic. Its possible that she was found in one of those areas

With her bookbag found right after she disappeared and her jacket folded neatly underneath it I wonder if she didn't meet a military guy there and something went wrong. I wonder if they will ever find out who murdered her.

I think the dad did it.

Um, do you have any evidence to support this accusation?
Not trying to be unduly argumentative but the quoted post did not sound like an accusation to me in the strict sense of the word. Sounded like the member posted an opinion of who did it. The sentence used the expression "I think . . ." and was not simply declarative. It might be interesting to hear the reason behind the opinion.

So would I. But it upsets me a lot when people make comments like that on public forums without having anything to back them up. I mean, there's a very real possibility that Pamela's father or other relatives will read this thread. What if her father was NOT involved in her disappearance -- how's he going to feel when strangers are saying things like that?

Missing teen
" . . .Pamela Walder vanished January 22, 2005. She was a tenth-grader at Terry Sanford High School. Police say they located Walder's book bag at Fort bragg in the days after her disappearance, but there has been no sign of the girl. She had only been in Cumberland County for about 18 months. . ."

That's why we have threads on the forum for discussing the case and other threads for support concerning the same case. Unfortunately when a missing person is found the threads usually get moved to the located section and then the lines between support and case discussion can become blurred, in my opinion.

Perhaps at this time we need to make sure there is a case discussion thread apart from the located thread for this case.

Note: I just went and created a case discussion thread for the case. Hopefully this will help resolve the issue.

I am thankful that they found this child, for her grandparents peace of mind if nothing else. Wish that it could have been a better ending. May she rest in peace. And I hope they find who ever did this to her.

Just to clear my name, then no more discussion, the link in post 15 leads to an article that states Pam disappeared after some very strong words between her and her father, according to her father, and that the police consider him a POI. Also he said "you were always part of our hearts" when speaking about Pam who was a missing person at the time and considered alive, by the police. Also in the post just before mine Bobbisangel says "I wonder if they will ever find out who murdered her". So my post was my opinion of who I thought murdered this poor girl. Next time I'll use quotes. Also Pam was living with a father she had only gotten to know after moving in with him about 18 months prior and who's house she was getting ready to leave to move back west, which is where her grandparents live.

I'm not trying to be insensitive or insult anyone, but does Ft. Bragg have a lot of cases of rape?

I think there is a somewhat high incidence but then I am not that well versed in the crime stats from the area.. I do know there have been a lot of other serious crimes committed on and around the base some of which involve some of the military personnel. For instance the was a crime not long ago of a guy stationed at Fort Bragg who allegedly shot the husband of the woman he was having an affair with.. though there was conflicting stories as to which of them was the actual shooter. Other similar stories such as this one are occurring as well... Another thing to note here is that the area has a lot of farming and a lot of migrants and illegals living in and around the Fort Bragg area. not pointing fingers specifically but there are more sources of possible criminals than just the base... as well as every other criminal walking around there. According to one website there are 2 sex offenders living in Fort bragg and 280 in Fayettville..according to another site there are about 9 rapes and 250 murders in Fort Bragg but in the surrounding area there are 550 rapes and 150 murders.. take from that what you will..

I still believe that she must have met a serviceman somewhere and become involved with him. Her bookbag was found with her jacket folded neatly under it like she had set them there while she waited for someone. I can't figure anyother way they would have been left there like they were with the jacket folded underneath the book bag. Maybe he picked her up and she neglected to grab her belongings. She could be dead somewhere or still with him. It doesn't sound like she had any strong ties anywhere.

Update...

Remains identified as missing teen

Fayetteville police used DNA testing to identify the remains of a teen who's been missing for two years.

Pamela Waldher's remains were recently found on the reservation of Fort Bragg.

Waldher, 16, had been classified as a missing person but her case is now a death investigation. She was reported missing Jan. 23, 2005 from her home on Glen Canyon Drive. Several days later, her book bag and coat were found on Fort Bragg....

http://www.wral.com/nc-wanted-father-fiercely-defensive-after-teen-s-disappearance-death/1809645/

Pamela Waldher was a teenager at a crossroads when she left her grandparents' home in Washington state in the summer of 2004 intent on establishing a relationship with her father in Fayetteville... But within months, Waldher reported arguments. "She would call us at home and say, 'It's just not working out. I want to come home,'" her grandmother, Shaleen Waldher, said.

In January 2005, Pamela Waldher disappeared...

Police interviewed Garcia, but he was never charged with any crime. To this day, he fiercely defends himself. "Those people who consider such allegations viable, let alone reasonable, should themselves seek counseling because the speakers are utterances of such drivel," Garcia said.

How did this Terry Sanford teen die?
Nolette and Detective Mike Ballard have worked on the case at different times while assigned to the Homicide Unit. They stop short of calling Pam's death a homicide, but they have investigated it as such.

Police never identified a suspect, Ballard said, but they hold out hope that they will eventually find Pam's full remains — and, if she was a homicide victim, find her killer.
