That is what I have been telling people. Serial rapists, insane soldiers coming back from overseas killing their wives, shootings, crackheads... fayetteville is a really scummy town for being such a small city. You can go to raleigh which is many times larger and the crime is no where near as bad.

It would be interesting to do a study to see who the crimes are being committed by on the crimes that have been solved. I know there's been several serious domestic crimes that involve soldiers. Also, I agree, that some soldiers are going 'nuts' due to the repeated deployments in quick succession that have been taking place for years now. It's too much and the soldiers currently serving are giving their lives but it's too much for them psychologically. They can't become crackheads while in the Army and still stay in because they undergo regular drug screenings. Do you mean they stay in Fayetteville after they leave the Army and become crackheads?

There are non violent ways to get sex - just saying. NH does not wear a uniform.

Im starting to see that its a shame!
the more your read the worse it gets!
why is the area so bad?

not sure... as I said there are a lot of drugs and prostitutes which leads to a lot of theft. As i imagine most military towns a lot of the soldiers are young with disposable income which leads to a huge party atmosphere. Never ending date rape and fighting/assault. Typically infantry which is the lowest soldier so they are deployed over and over again. Army special forces are there which they have big egos and leads to a lot more fighting. Soldiers come back from overseas and snap. There's a lot of spousal beatings, abuse, and murder if you watch the news.

I didn't look up the address to the bar, but spring lake is like 10 minutes outside fayetteville. You have spring lake, pass through fort bragg, then fayetteville. doesn't take long to get anywhere in fay after you enter.

Back when I was at Bragg, Spring Lake was not the place you wanted to be.:twocents:

I am terribly concerned for our soldiers. I'm a child of the Viet Nam war. Our soldiers were spit on when they came back to the states. It isn't the same today, however they are not being helped as they should be. Some are homeless, some are not psychologically sound, and they attempt to move back into society.

I mean seriously, how does one who is taught to hunt and kill to react when returned from active duty?

I posted this yesterday, but I'm posting it once again -

Hiding in plain sight: A serial predator haunts Fayetteville, NC
http://www.examiner.com/article/hiding-plain-sight-a-serial-predator-haunts-fayetteville-nc

Reading that makes me sick to my stomach. Is it the police doing a lousy job? I mean, some of the rapes have got to be related. Why wouldn't they be if they are getting away with it? This article basically screams to predators that it is the perfect place to commit a crime.

yes, a lot of them just stay. They get caught up in the party atmosphere. Goes downhill from there.

Yes indeed it does, but those who live around the area need to be made aware. Dr Godwin is a geographic profiler and has been doing this for years, and he needs to be heard.

I agree that the article is great. What I meant is that the information makes me sick. I makes me angry at the police and feel that they are not working hard enough or properly or whatever they need to do to solve some of these cases. It seems odd to me they act as though they have given up and there is not much more they can do.

And the DNA can still be extracted from THOSE items, if not thoroughly contaminated. Forensic Files should be required viewing for every person on WS.

Most of us do watch those shows because we have an interest. But without hands on experience, the real-time facts of a crime, accurate media portrayals, etc. How do we know?

I've watch Forensic Files and marvel at what can be done - I'm just not sure every case in America is given that much detailed attention. Some of those cases are cold cases that have been taken down from the shelf when somebody had the time.

Don't get mad, help us learn and grow and share your expertise with us.

p.s. burned clothing is still more complicated to i.d. than found clothing that's intact.

IF you are living at Fort Bragg military base, do you have to be home at a certain time or can you stay out till 4 am?

Oh I know this. This goes on all around the country and it's just swept under the rug. I wouldn't even know how to get the word out to those who live in these vulnerable areas to be on guard. It's a terrible situation and one that needs to be addressed.

I'm not Todd, however I've been doing this now for years online because I don't have the resources to do otherwise. We the public, are the first people that LE calls when they need us to watch out for a missing person, or the info needed in those cases, yet we are the last to be heard when a case is highlighted and they need help. We can and would help LE if only they would give us the chance to do so. My rant is now over....

It's almost as if they would get more accomplished if they hopped on these forums and read all of our theories to get ideas of where to look, what to do, who to go to etc.. It's as if the human life isn't as important when it's not their own. Sorry..I'm just disgusted. The poor girl was just trying to have a fun night of karaoke and it can happen to anyone.

The incident report was taken by FPD and she went missing off post. No, I do not believe the military would have a say over this.
If there was another soldier involved they'd be on it like stink on poo. :twocents:

I'm sure that at times they do have people who monitor these forums, at least that is my hope, because the tunnel vision that many in law enforcement have would begin to dissolve. And honestly, it seems that human life isn't valued anymore, and until a crime comes to their own then it finally sinks in.

We as a people, can't just go out and have a good time anymore, or even go about our daily routines. We must constantly be vigilant and teach our child and their children to do the same, and it's a daunting task.

Oh for cry'n out loud - picture gone, FB gone.

Now it seems like the agency is covering their own arses.
Whatever happened to accountability?

I'd read that article earlier, but was too annoyed by some of the quotes in it to post it. ;)

Not sure how Fayette Observer hires their reporting writers, but that was a horrible piece of journalism. All over the place, and seriously... at least one of the quotes in there is quite rude and shouldn't have been printed at all out of respect for Kelli's family.

Thumbs down for that piece.

My poor family. Between school and going back and forth with this forum, they are being neglected. I will be back since I am obsessed with getting answers. Until then I must go give hubby and kids some attention:).
