The way that reads he was gathering stuff up in the BACKYARD.

Yea passionflower I caught that as well.

First they pulled around the back of the house and circled the cars around a woodpile and then they pulled the cars around in a circle around the tree in the front yard.

I found that strange - never heard of anything like that during a vigil.

yes very odd

Here is the story and the video. It will answer your questions.

It was a gathering and they released balloons.

The car circle was to try and gain some privacy from the media, is my take on it.

HICKORY, N.C — Friends and family of Zahra Baker held a private memorial Sunday afternoon.
Close to two dozen of Zahra Baker's closest relatives, including her father, met outside the house where the 10-year-old was reported missing more than a week ago which has been unoccupied since that day.
They formed a ring with their vehicles near the wood piles outside the home and some could be seen writing on pieces of paper while others wrote on balloons. Some notes read “we love you”, “Zahra, we miss you” and others urged readers to call police with information.
After 15 to 20 minutes the group gathered together with the mostly pink and purple balloons and released them into the sky. While Adam Baker gathered belongings in the backyard the group built another ring of cars around the tree in the front yard. They taped more pictures to the tree, and hung angels.
As quickly as they came, the group left.

Seeing the video, AB was not upset and looked like he could care less what people were doing.
The cars are parked really wierd........nice gesture of angels and balloons.
But for a private MEMORIAL it is sad.

My daughter was just acting a fool, throwing a fit and complaining about her homework. I was getting SO frustrated and have been feeling short-fused today.

Then suddenly Zahra popped into my head, followed by Kyron. Then I become so incredibly thankful that I HAVE my child to annoy me. I'm no longer short-fused but blessed.

Please, God, please help to guide LE, searchers, etc. Please help them to find these children. No matter the outcome, we need to know where they are so they can be at peace and so that those who love them can have some sort of closure.

There I go with my assumptions again. I assumed that his ersponal belongings were being gathered (staged) in the backyard so the LE could see everything and then once cleared he could load it up into the car and head on out.

As I said, pure speculation.

ETA He may instead have been gathering up work/tool sort of items that belong either to him or his employer

Is it just me or is the term 'memorial' too soon to be used...why not vigil....sorry don't mean to be nitpicking I just find that odd.

This may be trivial but its really bothering me. WHY would they circle the cars around a wood pile in the backyard? What significance does that wood pile have? And then to move the cars and circle them around a tree in the front (now the tree in the front I can understand) - but why circle cars around a wood pile?

I have heard it described both ways depending on the news outlet - some say vigil, some say memorial

Are there pix of them around the woodpile? Sorry, I'm sure I missed them.

hold on - I gotta change the channel. Sheba from Illinois is on, must have recovered from her back surgery.

I am guessing "memorial" was the reporters word.

  • #92
IDK....it just seemed "off" to me, forced or something. Or photo-op for some.

Was this memorial suppose to be like leavings thing for Zahra? or to say good bye?
But then the balloons?
The cars in a circle, adults about 20 of them.......
and dad gathering up things?
wierd the way it comes together.........

The hit was not on the wood chipper itself but the engine, and they determined the blood could have come from a cut on a worker’s hand.

And this is why training like this is a bad idea. Dogs should not be alerting on bandaids, pads, tampons, urine, feces....

I recognized AY and his fiance standing with AB. And BS was there. Anyone know why the big tree removal truck from AB's employer was there? Is he using that truck for transportation? Was there another employee from the company there?

It seems as though everyone who knows AB since he's been in NC is rallying around him. I wonder if they all believe he is not involved in Zahra's disappearance? :waitasec:

I'm sure I'm not going to be too popular when I saw this but... I get really irritated when people use memorials as an excuse to let tons of balloons go. Those balloons end up litter that is very harmful to animals. Especially when they float out into waters and can eaten by water animals. It kills them but not quick. There is a lot of suffering. It blocks digestive systems and they starve. Leaving items to remind people of that person I can totally understand. I just hate to see animals getting injured in the name of someone missing or passed away.

I am puzzled to as to why there is a memorial too. I thought the family are still hopeful for her return?

And her closest family are back in Australia, not here. Maybe that term was just used by the reporter to bulk up his story but it certainly is not the truth.

The angels were beautiful and I know they're watching over Zahra where ever she is!

Okay, well there goes my theory that someone took her to get her away from the abuse in that house.

Where were the angels and balloons when she was alive and not missing? The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
