It is so sad to see that people think women are so worthless that they do not see the degradation of women in this.

Consent is an interesting concept. I would venture that most women who do this are victims of some sort of abuse sometime in their life. They “consent” because they have been ripped of their worth.

For instance, Stormy Daniels makes a ton of money, but her story is one of being abused as a child.

Everyone who buys these services is continuing the abuse.

As a woman, I rail against the idea that women are not even considered to be human. What is the difference between the US and Saudi Arabia.

WOW Now I can't even believe ESPN. I guess I'll have to watch all the games rather than relying on them for the scores.

Is that truly what you gather from my post?

Why did ESPN’s lead insider tweet out that Kraft was not the biggest name in the sting? Do you believe Schefter on that? If so, please tell me who that biggest name is.

Remember when they cancelled Playmakers? Explain that business decision to me.

I have a (not very close)friend who revealed to me recently that she is/was a prostitute. She only revealed this to me because she was arrested, and we share a business connection, so I was likely to hear it eventually. She is a college graduate who had two jobs (lost both when arrested). She claims she was a prostitute because she liked it. (That is something I cannot fathom doing, even in the event I was dead broke.) She made $400 an hour. I do not believe there were any restrictions on clients other than that they could pay her.
I cannot help but think this 28 year old had to have had sexual abuse in her childhood to have chosen this way to make extra money in a very seedy area near a southern college town. A normal female would not choose or be able to stomach this.
Your armchair diagnosis is probably right. Childhood abuse, low self esteem, and/or she could be bipolar which increases risky behaviors when manic. Very sad. At $400, she was offering “specialty” services. She is very lucky to still be alive. She should consider the arrest a blessing, a second chance, and get in to therapy immediately. My prayers to her.

I think it's probably accurate that people who go into prostitution likely have some childhood abuse/trauma in their past. It's a sad thing to think about - that their clients "benefit" from that trauma, that the client's sexual gratification comes from someone else's pain.

While I'd like to think that decent people don't take advantage of another's pain (wishful thinking), the question in this particular case, imo, is: are the women trafficked?

Are they in control of their own money and do they have a say in whether they are performing these jobs or not? Are they free to leave their housing? Is their housing decent? Are they free to leave the area, to walk away completely from the job? Do they have access to their identification records, money, etc? And, of course, are they physically hurt?

I really don't care if some men want someone to touch their penis and are willing to pay for that. I do care, however, if the person providing that service is doing it because crimes are committed against them (forced labor, assault, false imprisonment).

Let's say I want a sandwich - I'm willing to pay someone to make it and serve it to me, but I sure don't want to be part of a slave doing the work.

What prostitutes are free to do what they want when they want and to keep their money? Which ones do not use drugs to mask their pain?

So. its impossible for a man or woman to engage in sex for money without being on drugs to mask their pain.

Pain and disgust , I imagine.

No, it is not impossible. You're making a leap that I haven't seen one person here make.

My guess would be it's possible for prostitutes are more likely to have freedom and be drug-free when prostitution is legal. I can also envision people being prostitutes (legal or not) who are not drugged, not forced and are simply in it for the money, but I'm not convinced that is the situation in this case, which this thread is about. Maybe they are gainfully and willingly employed in this profession, maybe not.

To be honest, I have no opinion on whether prostitution should be legal or not. It's just not a topic that particularly interests me. In this particular case, which this WS thread is about, what interests me is whether or not this is a situation of trafficking. I don't care about the wankers of old men, but I am interested in making sure people in our country are not captive and/or coerced.

Again, I don't know what is happening with the workers in this case.

How was it with the athlete who was with a Khardashian who went to a legal place?

Go visit Amsterdam.

Women in the sex business are victims . Did you see the price that was charged? I wonder how much the women get?

Could be but the ones who tell their stories or are arrested seem to use something

I don't think the women got any cut from the money in this particular situation. Maybe some spending money once in awhile, but not control of their own finances. Just my hunch.

How can he possibly deny what is on the camera? His naked body being fondled was recorded.

The link I posted just above gives reasons to his defense.

The authorities believe Orchids of Asia and four other Florida spas were involved in human trafficking by recruiting women for sexual exploitation. They say many of the women came from China under the guise of legitimate jobs in the spas, were forced to work in the sex trade and confined to the venues, eating and sleeping in the back of the businesses.

“These cases aren’t about any one defendant or any group of defendants,” State Attorney Dave Aronberg said. “The larger picture, which we must all confront, is the cold reality that many prostitutes in cases like this are victims, often lured into this country with promises of a better life, only to be forced to live and work in a sweatshop or a brothel, subject to force, fraud or coercion.”

Cannot read without subscription. Any highlights?

But it appears Kraft was caught on camera getting services from two women who are not victims of human trafficking: the 45-year-old manager of the spa, Lei Wang, and 58-year-old spa employee Shen Mingbi, also believed to be an operator of the business — both licensed masseuses and Florida residents.

Snyder — who is not involved in the Florida sex-trafficking case and is not representing Kraft — said, “A number of things jump out for me after reading the affidavit. When the police allege that vulnerable women are effectively being held as sex slaves, I would ask why the police didn’t move faster to get these women out of danger?

"the video was probably not legally obtained, the police seemed to ignore the necessity requirement for such an intrusive measure like planting a camera in the premises.”

Thanks.

Women are not considered to be worth much in the US so it is possible he will get off.
