Oh great. Why the heck are that SAR dog's ribs so visible? Does starvation help them search?

Ribs are visible because the dog is jumping, and ribs are easily visible because Malinois are built that way and have thin fur.
Look at the breast and the hips, they are OK.

re bold - OMON - they are the ones who shot at the Latvian barricades in 1991 - which my brother was involved in - wondering if this guy is the one that shot dead one of his friends....

H! I am sorry to hear this about your brother's friend!
These guys have been around for a while.
I read on Twitter that some are looking into the separatists / Russian friends who alledgedly brought MH17 down with a BUK-missile, and it is supected that one of them may have been involved in a massacre during the war in Bosnia. Not everybody is convinced, but somehow these villains always seem to find a way out and a new job. There is an international market for mercenaries... :(

Antyufeyev is wanted by Latvia and Moldova on heavy charges.

More has been said about Putin's involvement in Ukraine and the minions he uses to create chaos.
I can only find my own postings :blushing: but there are more by others ... sorry! :blushing:

I keep wondering when the victims will be sent home. I read that they have identified a Malaysian victim, and a Dutch victim ... possibly they have identified even more.

But then I'm thinking that they may wait till all remains have been identified, as so many were so badly damaged.

The wait must be terrible for the families. It is good that they are starting to have memorial services for their loved ones. They need support and something to hang onto while they wait.

Australia's head of the MH17 recovery mission, Angus Houston, has disputed media reports that shelling has come close to the search area overnight.

…. Retired Air Chief Marshal Houston said it was fired from five kilometres away and presented no danger to investigators.

Air Chief Marshal Houston said two of the six main crash areas had been covered in the search for human remains.

"When we get into areas where ... there's been fire and the like, the search takes a lot longer, it is a lot more intense and when we're out away from those areas progress is a lot quicker," he said.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said at the weekend that it would take "at least a week to get the job done".

Hi, the families have a choice in this. If they want to be informed each time a victim (relative of theirs) has been identified, that will happen. They can also choose to wait until all their loved ones have been identified. The Dutch being who we are, it should also be possible to change one's mind halfway.

The public will only be informed in general terms once the family has been brought up to date.

Newsweek ran an interesting article on Russian government, which I think paints an ominous picture for any hopes of the situation in Ukraine being settled peacefully soon.

It makes me think investigators just need to recover all the human remains they can, and get out of there as quickly as possible.

ETA: And this was an interesting article about Russian media coverage of the crash.

Let's hope he keeps it, both for Oski and for Pierre Crom.

DAY 4 OF SEARCH - IN PICTURES BY PIERRE CROM

crom4.jpg

NOS.nl reports:
http://nos.nl/op3/artikel/682879-fotograaf-volgt-de-zoektocht.html

Photographer follows the search

For the fourth day in a row, Dutch, Malaysian and Australian researchers were able to work at the scene of MH17. Side by side they walked through the corn and sunflower fields, searching for victims of the plane crash. Like yesterday they were looking around the village Rozsypne. Initially, the team had planned to search a diferent location, but that turned out to be too dangerous. Also, the fleet of vehicles left later than planned and the search was interrupted to seek shelter from the fights. Photographer Pierre Crom followed the team closely.

I can never look at sunflowers the same. Ever.

A lovely way to think of them can be .... each sunflower as a beautiful living reminder of the beautiful souls on the plane.
Mo, Evie and Otis Maslin's parents gave out packs of sunflower seeds at their children's memorial service yesterday.

The world is one step closer to locating the separatists who shot down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17.

The owner of a Volvo truck that reportedly smuggled a BUK missile into Ukraine that downed flight MH17 has been found — and now fears for his life.

“Yes, of course. It is easy to recognise. We know our vehicles. Yes, it is ours,” he confirmed.
“It is the only Volvo with such a cabin”.

New evidence suggests pro-Russian rebels are responsible for the attack after the man, known only as Vasilijus, told Lithuanian website alfa.it the vehicle was stolen by them on July 8.
