GUILTY Netherlands - Malaysia Flight MH17 shot down in Ukraine. 298 aboard. 7/17/2014 #4

"So pull all the evidence together – what do you have?

- The data from air traffic control’s secondary surveillance radar provides MH17’s course and coordinates to within 500 metres.

- The flight data recorder can show whether or not a component or systems failure, or pilot error that caused the loss, and can pinpoint the aircraft’s position even more accurately.

- The specifications of the SA-11/SA-17 missile launcher demonstrates that it is quite capable of destroying an airliner, and that it can if necessary be operated by an inexperienced team, without the safety of an IFF-capable radar.

- Evidence gathered from the wreckage will be able confirm whether the missile was an SA-11/SA-17, and help pinpoint the location of the missile when it was fired, and perhaps even confirm if the system was exported abroad or produced for Russian use.

The evidence is there to be found, and once all of it is available, it will provide a compelling case against whoever fired upon and brought down flight MH17."

Well, this professor is a bit out of touch with the practical reality IMHO.
Most of the points that he mentions have already been done, or are being done - for instance, the info of the black boxes has been available for a while. Did you know that, Professor??

They way I experienced it, the investigation into the crash of MH17 started within a minute after the plane went down.
The night from July 17 to 18, I stayed awake on the internet, and before dawn, it was pretty clear what had happened, and how.
(I made it on time for lunch with a friend and I was surprised that the Dutch MSM had not picked up the story. The friend knew about the crash but nothing more.)

Last week, the Dutch Parliament debated with the PM about the decision to halt the mission in Ukraine.
To my surprise, serious MP's were worried that the team had been unable to reach only a small part of the disaster area, they were worried that many remains were left behind, they had not heard of the salvage done by 800 Ukranians, and they were not aware of the open source investigation.
As if the investigators would have to scour the entire area with magnifying glasses, almost like in the days of Sherlock Holmes.

:websleuther:

It was all the more surprising, because both the repatriation team and the investigation team had made known previously that they based many decisions on satellite info and sources from the internet. But somehow, our dear MP's missed it all.

"THE funeral of Newcastle United fan Liam Sweeney, the first British victim to be identified from the wreckage of Flight MH17, has taken place.

FAMILY and friends arrived under gloomy skies on Thursday to commemorate the life of the 28-year-old, who had been travelling to New Zealand to watch his team play.

On Sunday, family members of both fans laid flowers in the centre circle of the stadium and a minute's silence was held before the home game against Manchester City kicked off.

Canon Robert Spence said he deserved his place in Geordie mythology and a Newcastle scarf and shirt had been placed on his coffin as a sign of his commitment to the team."

NU.nl reports:

Translation:

Dutch Foreign Secretary Timmermans' determination to fulfill mission MH17
The Netherlands remain "determined" to gain access to the disaster site in Ukraine, where flight MH17 crashed over a month ago.

Foreign Secretary Frans Timmermans (PvdA) made this known in Kiev on Thursday. At this moment the situation on the site remains "unabatedly very unsettled and dangerous."

"We are well prepared to continue our job on the site, as soon as the situation permits this," the Foreign Secretary wrote on his Facebook page. "That's why I think it is important today to make clear to all parties that The Netherlands are and will remain detemined and committed to fulfill our mission."

Timmermans spoke in the Ukrainian capital about the situation in eastern Ukraine with representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Red Cross .

"The people of the Dutch mission have briefed me," says Timmermans, who was told, among other things, that severe fighting continues on the crash site right now.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 http://www.themalaymailonline.com/m...to-observe-mh17-day-of-mourning-as-one-nation

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will drape itself in black for a national day of mourning on Friday (Aug 22) as it welcomes home the remains of 20 citizens killed on downed Flight MH17.

Malaysian King Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Prime Minister Najib Razak will attend a sombre ceremony at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, followed by a minute's silence observed nationwide for the victims - the first to arrive of 43 from the country.

Malaysians have been asked to wear black, the national flag will be flown at half-mast, and businesses, government agencies, and citizens across the Muslim-majority country have been told to refrain from festive activities out of respect.

The first Malaysian remains are expected to touch down just before 10:00 am local time (0200 GMT) on a special Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam, where they had initially been taken for examination and identification.

A military guard will convey the coffins from the plane, followed by the minute's silence during which millions of Malaysians will pause, with schools, road traffic, public transport, and even cinemas expected to come to a standstill.

Malaysians across the country of 28 million went silent at 10:55 am (0255 GMT), about an hour after a Malaysia Airlines flight landed with the remains of 20 people killed when MH17 was blasted from the sky by a suspected surface-to-air missile over Ukraine on July 17.

The 43 Malaysian dead included 15 crew.

DUTCH PM RUTTE: NOT ALL VICTIMS MAY HAVE BEEN RECOVERED

Translation:

We must seriously take into account the possibility that not all victims of Flight MH17 have been recovered, but we do not know this for sure. Prime Minister Rutte said this during his press conference.

When asked what is his message in this to next of kin, the Prime Minister said. "We will do everything to salvage all the victims and bring them back, but we do not want that the number rises to 299 or higher." Rutte was referring to the highly volatile situation around the crash site, where the Ukrainian army and the pro-Russian rebel fight each other with weapons.

Russians Open Fire in Ukraine, NATO Reports

KIEV, Ukraine — Russia on Friday escalated tensions with Ukraine to the highest level since its stealthy invasion of Crimea in the spring, sending more than 200 trucks from a long-stalled aid convoy into rebel-held eastern Ukraine over the objections of Kiev and, NATO said, conducting military operations on Ukrainian territory.

NATO officials said that the Russian military had moved artillery units inside Ukrainian territory in recent days and was using them to fire at Ukrainian forces.

U.S. says Russia must pull convoy from Ukraine or face more sanctions

KIEV/DONETSK-IZVARINO BORDER CROSSING Russia (Reuters) - The United States demanded Moscow remove an aid convoy it sent into rebel-held eastern Ukraine without permission on Friday, accusing Russia of a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of its former Soviet neighbor and threatening more sanctions.

Moscow, which has thousands of troops close to the Russian side of the border, warned against any attempt to "disrupt" the convoy, which it said was purely humanitarian. It did not say what action it might take if the Ukrainian military intervened.

NATO's top military commander said the movement of trucks looked like a disguised attempt to reinforce separatist forces.

The Western defense alliance said Russian troops had been firing artillery across the border and within Ukraine in a major escalation of military support for pro-Moscow rebels since mid-August, a de facto charge that Russia was already waging war.

White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes said that if the convoy was not pulled out, the Russians would face "additional costs".

"We have seen the use of Russian artillery in Ukraine in the past days," he said, when asked about the NATO statement.
