New "Dateline" - 2010.11.12 Kyron Horman case

I really think Kaine would have accomplished more if he had held off with the divorce and the RO, because alienating a spouse and taking away their child is NOT the way to get them to talk. I think he hurt their chances of getting her to tell anything she knows. Terri has been backed into a corner now and she can't come out fighting, because that would make her look even worse. She really has no choice but to keep her silence and wait until they charge her with something.
And it is not always true that innocent people have nothing to fear. Many people have been convicted of crimes they did not commit. It appears that LE does not know what happened to Kyron so what are they going to charge her with? No evidence of murder.
I appreciate Dateline for trying to present a fair and balanced report, it's important for people who follow these cases to see both sides. If this case was brought to trial now, and I were on the jury, I could not convict her based on what I know.
Kaine and Desiree believe Kyron is alive, maybe they think Terri handed him off to someone else and that is a strong possibility. I hope for everyone's sake that is true.

Coddling her wouldn't bring any answers either. Kaine did the only thing he could do under the circumstances; that was protecting his own life, and the life of his remaining child.

More inconsistencies... The gym friend says that Terri was often emotional and lonely, plus looked a wreck and tired every day. Part of that could describe a hangover, but why on earth would she want to go work out like that unless it was for free childcare. It definitely does not fit with Kaine saying that she spent her time there flirting.

exactly. Women who go to flirt with men at a gym get all dolled up with the nicest looking work out clothes, make up, hair, etc. If she looked a wreck, I wonder why she even bothered -- if only 2 get a break from baby K?

Just my opinion.

A couple of things caught my attention in this special.

1) CL(Kyron's praying friend) said that he saw Kyron and Terri that morning bringing Kyron's project in. Originally it was reported that Kyron's project was already there and Terri had the truck to bring it home, right?

2) Terri's gym buddy saw her at her regular gym on June 4, not another gym?Wasn't it originally stated that the gym she went to that day was different than the one she went to regularly?

3) Terri's gym buddy made a point of saying that Terri regularly looked exhausted and "unstable"(thanks grandmaj and JBean!). That is a weird way to describe someone's regular appearance.

Good morning all
Jmo

Good morning!

How does one look unstable. Unstable as if you can't walk, or unstable in the head -- as in babbling incoherantly? What an odd statement.

Again, if she is innocent, what can be used against her? Where? Please show me. And why are you referring to the Miranda rights? She has not been arrested or charged with anything. Many of you here are claiming her innocence, yet on the flip side swear whatever she says will be used against her. It makes no sense.

If I was falsely accused (as many of you are saying she is) of a crime I did not commit, I can tell you now come hell or high water, I will do my damndest to fight and prove my innocence.

Bullied? By whom? Please, do tell! I'm very interested in your theory!
Ya know, especially if you are innocent, you need to invoke your rights ASAP and listen to your attorney, which may include keeping your mouth shut.

To be clear, I'm not a Terri supporter at all, but I am a supporter of people - citizens invoking their rights, and it doesn't mean they're guilty; it means they're smart.

Pretend for a moment that police are looking to talk with you after a crime, and wanting to clear your name, you have a chat with LE without an attorney present.

LE: AlexisFresca, what time did you leave the house last Friday for work?

AlexisFresca: Around 9:30am.

LE: That the time you usually leave?

AlexisFresca: Yep. Everyday.

This is what you remember happening, it's very clear and set in your mind that you left at 9:30am, just like always. Now let's say your next door neighbour Mr Tom tells LE that he saw you leave at 10:30 that day, which he found strange, because it was off your usual punctual schedule, as far as Tom remembers you've never rolled out your driveway so late.

Did you lie to LE? No, you were mistaken. But it doesn't matter, because LE will rightfully see this as a lead, they may even lie to you, trying to get you to divulge information. Now you may be flustered, scared, and babbling because you're desperate to clear yourself. Maybe to LE, you're digging the hole deeper because nothing coming out of your mouth makes any sense. And now perhaps you're a PoI, and your employer, friends, family, etc all get wind of it.

What now? Eventually the evidence would clear you, because you're innocent. But your life is now turned upside down.

Again, I don't know of Terri is guilty or innocent, I'm just putting my opinion here.

And I certainly respect your opinion on the subject.

:)

ETA: If I were falsely accused of a crime, I'd lawyer up and let him do the talking. My mouth would stay firmly shut unless otherwise advised by said attorney.

I also feel I should say I have nothing but respect for LE, so much respect for their authority that I'm not going to have a little sit down with them all by my lonesome and "hehehe, hahaha" a few minutes, then have them change gears and fire questions at me, after I'm nice and comfy with my Pepsi and cookies.

Just sayin'

Exactly...Kaine, Desiree and Tony all gave Terri the benefit of the doubt for three weeks, even though they now admit that things she was saying didn't add up. They were concerned that LE wanted to talk to her so much in the beginning. But they waited, hoping against hope that her story would check out and LE could move on to who *really* took Kyron.

I can't imagine what an acceptable threshold would be for deciding that someone would finally get their story right for LE, but for me, I'd think it would be after LE told me that they uncovered evidence that the person tried to have me killed. At that point, it would have to dawn on me that this person isn't going to talk.

I agree. This is someone that has sympathy for Terri's position. I wish she could have followed up with that, because it's REALLy odd to describe someone looking like that "always."

Trt, my memory and notes differ. I didn't hear her say that Terri "looked" unstable, or that she "always" seemed unstable. My memory and notes are that she was saying that Terri was emotional (demeanor), then said the word unstable.

My memory and notes are that she said Terri "looked" exhausted, and that was kind of separate from the emotional/unstable/wearing emotions on her sleeve stuff.

The last Dateline had a transcript posted a few days after it aired. Hopefully we'll get both a video and a transcript for this one too.

ETA: Looks like JBean transcribed it:

For grandmaj more:
Terri would actually wear her emotions right on her sleeve, like she like Terri looked a wreck.
Kate Snow says the gwen ,a friend of Terri's from the gym, paints a picture of her as someone so troubled it showed.
Gwen: terri was often emotional, yaknow um unstable a little bit, ya know um tired, lonely.
Kate Snow says that Terri shared with gwen how unhappy she was in her marriage.
Gwen says:It wasn't an easy situation and it was very difficult for her. she was struggling to try and make things work out. ya know and obviously it just wasn't working out.

I thought she looked that way at the first press conference....

I watched the Dateline show last night and was totally riveted to the screen the whole time.

I have come away with one nagging observation:

Gwen described seeing Terri at the gym on June 4 and said she look tired, exhausted, unhappy, etc. I realize Gwen said she looked like this a lot of the
time, but what concerns me is how she looked that particular day of June 4.

Because we've also heard from someone else who saw Terri that same morning, Andrea at the Fred Myers. This would have been only an hour and a half before (or something like that) before Terri showed up at the gym. My memory of what Andrea said is that Terri was talkative and unusually outgoing, and even showed her pics of Kyron taken earlier that morning. I got the impression of a very "up" Terri who was going out of her way to
to be friendly...not someone who was feeling awful and was obviously unhappy.

What I'm wondering is what happened between Andrea's unexpected encounter with Terri at Fred Myers, and Gwen's encounter with her a short time later that would have created this drastic change in Terri's demeanor.

Just driving around????

It's so subjective, what we see, what we think we see. Gwen, the woman in the gym,saw Terri very often. They worked out together. She said Terri always looked exhausted. The other woman probably did not see her as often. MOO

I was shocked to see that Kaine appears to have shaved both his head and his eyebrows... It gives me pause when I think about what must be going through his mind .... MOO

My T.V. doesn't work.So I will have to wait to see it here or somewhere. But I went somewhere else where they said what was going on as it was happening as they were watching it.I probably won't be watching any more of these shows any more. They just said new information. So I thought there was going to be more leads and I'm a little disappointed there wasn't.I think I will just wait for LE pressers now.

Thats all fine and well. But I will give you a scenario. You, Suzanne, need someone to watch your children. Terri Horman is your only option. Do you trust her enough to hand over your children in her care? Based on what you know about her up to this point? Why or why not? This is a serious question, btw.

I've been following this case in general but I haven't read all of the threads (so many)!

But I caught almost the entire episode of Dateline last night. The part I missed is how she hook up with her "sexting" buddy? Can anyone save me hours of searching, pretty please?

Couple of things stuck out to me........

Her appearance.........her actual physical appearance. In some photos she was very attractive. In others, she was shockingly.......just bad looking. I suspect that it was from having a new baby (I recognize that look) and her drinking.

For a woman that is used to positive attention.....looking bad, being ignored at home and the stress of the situation probably made her increasingly unhappy. She still works out and flirts and I suspect she was trying to get the "old Terri" back.

I know that most people think that she is guilty and I wholeheartedly agree. It's the totality of her words and actions that leaves little doubt but unfortunately, little proof.

My question is why Kyron? What happened that day to make her snap? If it was planned-- surely it would have been planned better as far as alibi..........but what made her leave WITH KYRON? Why not just leave him at school where he is taken care of......

I guess what Dateline did was say.......It's POSSIBLE that she is innocent........but boy, it sure doesn't look good.

Didn't they say her HS guy friend has contacted her via FB since Kyron went missing? I think they did.

Watching him speak, I turned to DH and said 'I wonder if he is the Next Husband candidate?'.

Interesting thought! I hope he's a man who thinks things through. If I were him, I'd start reading up on MC and what happened to him recently. :innocent:

Okay, that's the last one. Before this becomes an issue, let's get back on topic.

Discuss the show. Now. Thanks!

Kaine's physical appearance is very much altered from how he looked last June. He looks like he has lost at least 30 lbs, and not all fat, which was scarce on him to begin with. You can see what a toll this has taken on him physically. I just can't imagine. If he doesn't start eating, he will be a mere skeleton very soon. I just don't know how he and Desiree get out of bed every morning except to try to find justice for their son.

I agree. I wasn't able to watch the episode, but saw the web exclusive with Kaine. He does look less vigorous than he did in summer. Is it just me or does he also have no eyebrows??
