New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella quashed speculation that the shooting was politically motivated. He stated on Sunday that the evidence indicates the shooter's motive was not political. The AG believes the shooter yelled things to create confusion and panic during the shooting.BBM:
Exactly.
Traveling to and entering a public premises with a loaded firearm (deliberation/premeditation) and shooting at people with a lethal weapon (purposely) while shouting political messages meets that statutory definition of first degree murder.
Charges should and I predict will be upgraded.
JMO.
I think it's possible the shooter also believed yelling slogans in the news would lead the investigation away from himself.
Formella said statements that Nadeau reportedly made during the shootings – which lasted less than a minute – such as “Free Palestine” do not indicate any hate-related motive.
“There have been reports he made certain statements such as ‘Free Palestine,’ but based on the evidence we gathered…we don’t have any evidence at this time that indicate Mr. Nadeau was motivated by hate-based motives.
“In fact I would say the evidence leads us to believe it is more likely that Mr. Nadeau was trying to make a number of statements to create chaos in the moment,” Formella said.
