From what I understand, the age of consent is 16-18 in Mexico, depending on the state, and there are no close-in-age exemptions like there are in the US. Imo
Says "Updated as of December 2018" . Unless federal laws have changed since then. I tend to think Wikipedia would update that of so. According to the link many states still have 12yrs old as age of consent. And aside from if laws change recently or not, seems that becoming a young wife or mother is embedded in their culture regardless. Might take decades or centuries to counteract that. At one time child brides were legal here in the US as well. We have since then evolved and understand young girls should have better opportunities appointed to them.
