Police suggest a family member played a role in the disappearance.

I'm sooo thankful this has quickly been found not to be the case at all.

I don't think I could take seeing another traumatized parent or parents be cruelly vilified in the worst most nightmarish times of ther lives when their young precious children have been abducted, and know they are in such grave danger.

The wait, the unknown has to be the most terrifying time of all. Praying for the best outcome, yet knowing it may not happen.

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but the ice cream came from a Sonoco convenience store according to the article.

That makes more sense since there are photos of them in that store and she is looking at ice cream. The confusion is from reporting then, because I posted another article upthread that stated they had just come from getting ice cream at a custard stand. A gas station convenience store and a custard stand are not the same. However, this is probably irrelevant at this point.

“The police think our family did this,” she told NJ Advance Media. “They think I did something to her. I didn’t. I love my daughter. I would never do nothing bad to her."

I had no idea they were suspicious of her..

Also..
“While police initially said they had no evidence of an abduction, they noted late Tuesday that during “interviewing and re-interviewing” witnesses they gained information that led to the Amber Alert.”

Clearly no CCTV but also seemingly beneficial because it sounds like multiple people had input. Oh and also... RED PANTS AND ORANGE SHOES!!!! Someone knows who this is.. they just need to hear it and come forward!

While I don't necessary disagree with a family connection, I don't believe the mom is involved. I do think it's most likely someone local, however. That park and area are frequented mainly by people who live or work in the area. Or go to school near there. Somebody has to know it's there and where the playgrounds and parking lots are, etc. The zoo (and perhaps the beach area near the lake) are the only reason people from out of the area would be visiting that park.

I've had my kids there at the zoo when they were little, and my daughter's senior class had their end-of-year picnic at the lake many years ago. It tended to be a safer place to visit in those days. IMO

IMO, this sounds like a stranger abduction. I hope there is video that may have captured the license plate of the Red Van. Praying this little girl is, will be, found safe.

I have no doubt the FBI is going through all of the video footage they may have at the convenience store to see if they can find the abductor in any of it including any footage that may be outside or on the sides or the front wider area view. Or all available footage in the area.

I remember another case of an abduction years ago. That little girl had gone to buy candy with her family, iirc, and she ran outside to wait in the car which was parked on the side of the building. When the rest came out she was gone.

The abductor had seen her going into the store then saw her come out alone. Like most, she was found later, raped, and murdered.

I'm sorry her name escapes me at the moment.

So maybe this pedophile first spotted her there?

It does show how children can be abducted in a blink of an eye without any warning, and no time to react.

Perhaps just from the way they were questioning her, what they were asking her and that they were questioning her at all. She may not understand that LE has to ask certain questions as protocol in order to narrow down what happened. I'd be surprised if they came right out and told her she was a suspect. Or that her family was.

At least this time they didn't waste days, weeks or even months harassing her or her family, when the abductors were still walking around dangerous, and free to possibly harm other children, which has happened way too often in these same set of dire circumstances.

Ugh, I feel sick.

Same here -- my heart sank when I read the article. Her chances of survival, based on what we're seen here and on other cases on MSM, are not good at all. We may see a change in search patterns and type of activity of LE today. I'd like to know how Dulce reacted/acted while going with this person to the truck...
Hoping for good news, but also thinking in real terms.

The missing child case turned into a possible abduction on Tuesday night after Bridgeton police said they interviewed and re-interviewed witnesses who were at City Park around 4:20 p.m. Monday when Dulce disappeared.

Alavez Perez told NJ.com that the girl’s father is in Mexico but still has family in Bridgeton.

During the search Tuesday, an ice cream vendor played his truck’s jingle in the hopes it would catch the girl’s attention and give her direction to follow.
