NJ - Mystery drones seen nightly

My initial thoughts, were some are possibly UFO... Yes, I said it. moo

UFOs are socially acceptable in my region. There is an article in the bizarre news thread about where we lived years ago and we are a short, presumably, UFO trip now. The UFOs occupants are quite the pest on the mountain in the article.

Was having coffee outside a few minutes ago and a sort of chunky two seater type plane flying low puttering on in roughly the same route but in the opposite direction…if that was him going somewhere last night and returning this morning….

I swear it looked just like a regular drone but giant. I’m not into aviation but the little planes at night have more delicate lights a couple fixed and a earnest flashing one, I think.

All imo

Slightly off topic. Been to that realm of thought before myself. Fishing late at night in a boat & heard a terrible sound, followed by a very large glow over top of the lake dam & an electrical fizzing type of sound. Left the lake an hour or so later to discover the road home was blocked by emergency vehicles. Someone had driven down a curving road (also coming down a steep hill) & had gone off the pavement, overcorrected, shot across to the other side of road & hit a transformer, unfortunately killing the driver. Had to unhook boat & do 3 point turn on that same steep curve (that was fun) due to road blocked off.

''CHATHAM, N.J. -
That buzzing coming out of New Jersey? It's unclear if it's drones or something else, but for sure the nighttime sightings are producing tons of talk, a raft of conspiracy theories and craned necks looking skyward.''

''Federal officials echo Austin's view that many of the sightings are piloted aircraft such as planes and helicopters being mistaken for drones, according to lawmakers and Murphy.

That's not really convincing for many, though, who are homing in on the sightings beyond just New Jersey and the East Coast, where others have reported seeing the objects.

For Seph Divine, 34, another member of the drone hunting group who lives in Eugene, Oregon, it feels as if it’s up to citizen sleuths to solve the mystery. He said he tries to be a voice of reason, encouraging people to fact check their information, while also asking probing questions.''

My thoughts:
1. the government would never allow this to happen - which means they are government drones.
2. the government doesn't want us/anyone to know they have the drones - so they are probably advanced tech surveillance drones
3. they are being used to search for the united health ceo killer (flying over NY/NJ) OR are a deliberate attempt to distract the public from something else

My theory

Some in government know what they are. They may possibly be linked to government contractors who are selling laser-based anti-drone systems.

Perhaps they're hoping to persuade the US military to buy more for use in the US. They may also be trying to persuade states or cities to buy some civilian version of them for their local PD.

Some folks may have also seen these "air taxis" around NYC that ferry passengers from Manhattan to local airports.

I used to read books about UFO sightings years ago. A particular story from KY stood out for me, unfortunately, I dont remember the details. It was fascinating though. May have to do some research later. moo
This?
or..

From casual reading on the subject, here are theories I’ve read ( my apologies if this has been posted previously— trying to bring myself up to speed)
1) Due to the upcoming inauguration, drones are being used to assess for threats including dirty bombs) ( makes sense if DT has been threatened by Iran)
2) The drones are tracking the movements of nuclear weapons in our arsenal. In the past this was done by helicopters and military police, but now drones are involved. Apparently it is normal operating procedure to move them periodically, not sure if this might be in response to a threat.

Both of the above would explain why the feds seem so lackadaisical about the drones— they know full well what is going on but don’t want it publicized. I don’t know why they wouldn’t share this with local authorities other than fear of leaks.
Pure speculation.

Informative article; however, others may not agree. ;)

In that article, there was a link to the new FAA webpage about drones. It was created yesterday. It's an interesting read and answered some of my questions about drones in general.

Great insight. This absolutely makes a lot of sense. Seems they're doing testing. moo

LOL. Probably Amazon trying to deliver packages cheaper and faster.

Google using drones for delivery.

I think that it is technology, freaking people out.

@BrianEntin

The runways at Stewart Airfield in New York were shut down for an hour last night because of drone activity in the airspace.

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is asking Congress to pass a law that allows local and state law enforcement authorities to take action.

Naval Weapons Station Earle in NJ confirms “several instances of unidentified drones entering the airspace” above the naval station.

But they say “no direct threats to the installation have been identified.”

How do they know they are not a threat if they are unidentified?
