GUILTY NM - 11 children found in "filthy" compound with little food, training to commit terrorism, Taos, Aug 2018

Cellmate of Amalia compound suspects: 'We're all just mothers missing our children'

*eyeroll* the cell mate also admits to not knowing what evidence was presented in court. The female suspects, specifically Jany, seem like manipulative wackos.

From the link:

One defense attorney says it's been difficult finding a place for them to live in Taos. He also said they are hoping to find some charitable organization to help pay for temporary living.

Shocker. Call in the Feds and DEPORT!

Not sure what you mean by shocker bc I actually was surprised ICE is involved. I didn’t expect for immigration to be an issue in this scenario. Anyway. She is apparently in federal custody.

I am confused about the multiple wife situation though. So MSM is making it like Jany’s “visions” are the reason the adults made the move to NM. But the property was in the other guys name. So how far in advance did they plan this move? Siraj was still legally married to his wife (mother of the victim) when they left GA. Was this a polygamist situation, was Siraj cheating, etc. Bc since day one, MSM has referred to Jany as his wife. Idk, I’m just confused about this.

I'm surprised more aren't illegal aliens.

I'm surprised more aren't illegal aliens.

Siraj and his siblings were all born and raised in Brooklyn. So at least 3 of the 5 adults are NYers. Idk about the other guy but I don’t really have any reason to believe he’s not a citizen at this point.

Thank you to YESorNO for posting the court videos. Although I did not make it through all of them, I did watch opening and closing statements and I did watch part of the beginning of testimony. First of all, I can see why the Judge may have felt the women should be released if it is true from the opening and closing statements that absolutely no evidence was presented regarding abuse or extreme neglect on the eleven children, and since there was no connection made with the firearms training, since abuse and neglect are the charges. What happened to those news reports of no water and starvation? If true as stated in closing argument, why was there no evidence of this presented? Even if true that this evidence wasn't presented, the men should have been treated differently, they owned the guns. They likely did the firearms training and instruction to kill others, shoot up schools, etc, the planning etc. This in itself is abusive to these children and a danger to the community.

I haven't read New Mexico's code section on this new bond detention issue; but, I am having a hard time accepting that a "clear and convincing" standard should be used like this in a criminal proceeding at such an early stage in proceedings when the goal is to protect the community and secure attendance at court. The State is still in the evidence gathering stage and should be afforded some leeway. Although I understand the public's anger with the Judge (Mind you, I am one of those), after watching part of these videos, I now understand why she may have felt compelled to do what she did. Not defending her nor promoting violence against her or anyone. Violence and threats aren't the answer. I still look at this differently than she does. But the State may not have given her enough given the standard set by the statute created by the New Mexico legislature. I can see a probable cause standard set, as in preliminary hearings; but for the life of me: "clear and convincing"???? Give me a break. The public of New Mexico, should be up in arms (figuratively) against the New Mexico legislators who created this Statute!!!! They should be pushing them right now for change.

Taos judge grants release for defendants charged in Amalia compound case

Further, Leveille told the kids that targeted individuals who did not accept their beliefs were to be detained until they were converted. Otherwise, they were to be killed, Taylor said the children told him during the interviews.

Snip

The child witnesses also told the special agent that Siraj Ibn Wahhaj had instructed them in tactical weapons training, including speed reloads, tactical reloads, moving and shooting and "room clearing."

Snip

Prosecutors also found a book on the property that described how a person could "physically and pyschologically" prepare for killing other people. Another book provided instructions on how to create an "untraceable AR-15 rifle."

Snip

Another exhibit, photographs taken of a handwritten journal allegedly containing other detail about the group's plans to the stage attacks, was successfully barred from the hearing entirely when the defense objected.

Snip

Children inside the trailer were also holding ammunition, he said. Hogrefe described a tense and difficult effort to convince Wahhaj to surrender, however, telling the court that he initially refused to cooperate with commands and told law enforcement children were inside the trailer.

BBM. Wowza.

I didn’t watch any of the court videos so this might be old news but some of the things in this article were news to me.

Well - I just checked the court site, and none of their names are coming!

Are they ALL released? They can't be - Siraj should still be in custody??

He definitely should still be in custody.

In spite of the judge’s decision to release the defendants, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, the son of controversial Brooklyn Imam Siraj Wahhaj, will remain in the Taos County jail on an outstanding Georgia warrant for allegedly abducting his 3-year-old son in 2017. The 40-year-old also faces one count of custodial interference.

Remains found at New Mexico compound are missing boy, authorities say
They've announced what we already knew. The body was the missing boy.
"New Mexico forensic investigators announced Thursday that a highly decomposed body found at a desert compound in New Mexico has been identified as a missing Georgia boy whose father is accused of kidnapping him and performing purification rituals on the severely disabled child."

I found this article that says the conditions of release have not been met. So those who got that ridiculous bond should still be in custody.
Conditions of release not yet met for compound suspects
Among other things, authorities must find safe living arrangements for the defendants before they can leave jail. They also must wear ankle monitors and have regular contact with their attorneys.
"The conditions for their release have not yet been met," Taos County spokesman Steve Fuhlendorf said Wednesday evening. He did not elaborate.

Article in post #195 also states:

"The New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner said in a statement that it could not identify the cause of Abdul-ghani's death because his body was found in advanced stage of decomposition."

This means these people will walk on this little boy's death unless somebody talks. Or can they tell from bones whether he was malnourished? Sounds like we will never know if he died from a seizure from not being given his medications. I hope federal charges of some type are coming. Threatening domestic terrorism or something. Give us something!!!

Michael Weinman, a member of Taos’ small Muslim community, said Friday that arrangements had been made for a motel room for defendant Lucas Morton, but the motel backed out. He said he’s concerned that’s “going to be the story everywhere in Taos.”

He said word had been sent to Taos-area churches to ask if they could help find accommodations.”I think helping prisoners is an obligation of all religions,” he said.
